The magazine apparently claims that they're real-time, according to a blogger who uploaded the scans.

Yeah, but they could always re-release a Revolution version with improved graphics or some new feature that the GameCube version doesn't support. Regardless, games like Final Fantasy IX was one of the best selling games when the PS2 came around, and it saw a boost in sales that week.

Either way, the game looks better -- and it already looked great.

"6GB HD Dual Layered, Custom Panasonic Optical Discs"

Bull. Rev discs are 12cm, they confirmed that. A DVD at 12cm can hold 9 GB, a HD disc 30 (HDDVD) or 50 (BRD).

Consider me ignorant if I am, but never did Nintendo say DVD, as the media they were going to use. It wouldn't be the first time they took an existing product, and dumbed it down for a legitimate reason (GameCube Optical Discs for example).

Look, I'm going to put this bluntly;

Han Solo is probably were Noble~Feather got this information in the first place. He was a member of the G4 boards, until he was finally -- justfully banned. He has lied to me, personally, several times -- mostly about Zelda, even using Famitsu as a fake referance -- which I probably will never forget.

If you don't believe Han Solo, don't believe Noble Feather.

I found more rumored speculations, these ones seem more down to earth -- and were originally posted on a blog.

2 PowerPC G5 CPU's @ 1.8GHz (Not Cores)
512k L2 Cache
1200 MHz FSB
600MHz GPU with 12MB's of Embedded 1T-SRAM

128MB 1T-SRAM Main Memory, 600 MHz (L3 Cache to CPU & GPU)
256MB 400MHz NEC designed embedded DRAM
16-Bit HD7.1 Digital Sound Chip
Dedicated Sound Bandwidth with no effect on CPU

6GB HD Dual Layered, Custom Panasonic Optical Discs

Uses Copper Wire for more less heat

A 3:1 balance between the CPU and RAM
A 1:1 balance between the GPU and RAM

What do you more educated techy's think of these speculations?!

TalkBack / RE:RE4 Reaches Half-Million Milestone
« on: June 07, 2005, 07:03:49 AM »
Why are the staff's comments negative?! The game sold better then even Capcom forcasted, and has sold 1.3 million units world-wide.

To put that in prespective, they recently announced that they expect the PS2 version will sell 2 million units, on a system which has sold exponentially more units then the GameCube, in the holiday season -- and to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the GameCube version say a relative boost in sales around the same time.

Aries made a bunch of lame predictions regarding the Revolution's release, Han Solo has never said anything like that. So far, he was right about what we know -- in that the system uses 1T-SRAM -- and he did nail the 360 specs, so -- I'll wait until Nintendo makes the announcement before I count.

Reggie Fils-Aime's can't spell either, It really holds no relevance. His numbers seem legit, and he's tried to explain the heating issue. The only way to know for sure, is wait for Nintendo to announce there specs. Until then, he can't be proven wrong -- we already know he was right about what type the memory was -- that's it.

Personally, this is bull*bleep!*. He prettym uch gave it away with the whole "Theoretical 10GHz + 3GHz" comment; Three 2GHz cores != 6GHz processor.

He claims 4, 2.5GHz processors -- not 3, 2GHz cores.

Quote

theoretical math. All else being equal, a 4-core design is not going to output the same heat as a single core, no matter what. Copper interconnects, 90mn, SOI, etc are all old news. Already existing and used for the PPC970. They're still hot.

Not sure what "perfect cooling" means. It wouldn't change the power consumption and heat produced by the chip. The math doesn't really work for current dual core chips, it wouldn't apply for a theoretical quad core.

Much less be useful or cheap enough to produce for a gaming console.

*sigh* I'll see what he says to that.....

FYI; Just to be on the politically correct side, Han Solo didn't join and say -- "I'm from Factor 5, want the revolution specs?" -- he simply existed until he mentioned, and proved that the GameCube is around 7%, physically, more advanced then the Xbox -- and mentioned benchmarks that he did with Factor 5.

We couldn't get him to spill the details (yes, we believe him for the most part -- although, I agree that would be impractical from Nintendo in 2006) until after he was sure it was ok to do it. There are webpages blurting out similar, yet less detailed, speculations on the Revolution. Like Tech Tree. But he did, 100% completely nail the Xbox 360 speculations. Although he did say they would use HD-DVD, this was month's before GDC -- when Microsoft planned on using some sort of HD-DVD solution.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Rumored Nrev specs

Han_Solo's rebuttal;

Quote

The 90 nm process does effect the design, like size (of course), heat, efficiency, and most of all cost. Yes it does produce 62 watts per core, but to show you how hot it is, is like this...using physics...

Wattage required for heat-up = Weight of material x Specific Heat x Temperature Rise°C/3.412 x Time

Therefore Specific Heat = 3.412 x Time x Watts/ Weight of material x Temperature Rise °C

Temperature rise = ~15 °C. It stays 15 degrees hotter constantly after 10 mins in G5 PowerPC chips

Therefore Specific heat of the CPU = 3.412 x 10 Minute (600 sec) x 62 watts/ 0.5 KG x 15
= 282 degrees, theoretically, but with aluminum parts and copper inter-connectors with a perfect cooling design, you square the number to get a very good 16.79 degrees per core

Therefore 62 degrees total from the CPU.

The GPU wont make any difference to the heat. therefore thats the peak of heat thats allowed in todays computers, therefore its ok.

all the other specs ive produced are correct no matter what you say

P.S that is the closest answer i can give you WITHOUT the aluminium design, that was originally invented by sapphire. Those numbers are basically correct to PC/Mac terms

P.P.S about the aluminium cooling, i meant this

I'm a member there, and I gotta say -- i've been skeptical for a while. However; lately I haven't really doubted him for the simple reason that he completely nailed the 360 specs, month's before GDC. Right down to what type and speed of memory the system used.

Well, that and IGN just confirmed that the Revolution is using customized 1T-SRAM in it's next system.

The Mario All-Stars all have there specific talents;

Luigi dunks better than, well, almost everyone. He's rated higher in that catagory than Vince Carter.
Mario is balanced. He can dunk, shoot and play defence.
Peach is good with free-throws and 3 pointers.

The only problem I had with using them, is the fact that they're incredibly easy to block.

Count me in for OoT having the superior soundtrack to WW. I remember one REALLY good and catchy song (and I think it was the Dragon Roost Island song that everyone is referring to), whereas still years after having played OoT there's quite a few songs I remember (and for contrast, there were two songs in MM I really liked). Then again, remembering songs usually has a lot to do with the moments that they are used in, and quite frankly I just plain remember a whole lot more situations in OoT than I do WW.

I own the japanese OSTs to both of them though, so it really doesn't matter too much to me anyway.

Overall, the ocarina songs where much better done than the Wind Waker songs. Although, I will say that "The Wind Waker" has the best rendition of the Zelda theme in it.

You've never played a 2D Zelda, have you? Switching items in the menu is part of what Zelda is, practically.

Think of it as being realistic, as if you were really needing to take the time to switch out items

Yes, In fact I own both the Original and "Link To The Past". It bothers me, but not as much as it did when I was playing wind waker. Im not totally sure why!?

The bow needs analog refinement as well. The Wind Waker had some pretty touchy bow controls, at least a lot more touchy than OoT and MM.

Quote

personally thought the Wind Waker was a lot of fun, it was more mentally stimulating than the Ocarina - most of the time. Now, if I had any musical talent, I admit that the Ocarina would be more fun for just playing with, but I found playing the pre-set tunes to be a mindless memorization task.

But I do agree that changing the wind direction became a hassle. It was a lot better after I finally figured out I could float around by holding R and pressing in the direction I wanted to go, before that I changed it two or three times every time I wanted to sail around an island! Still, a shortcut for changing the direction during sailing would be very convenient.

Ultimately, I'll take whatever Nintendo gives me. I enjoyed both items, and both got a little tiresome when I had to play the same tune over and over.

The Ocarina Of Time was definately more memorable.

i would have liked to change the way wind is moved in the boat though. It WAS tedious at a lot of times if u wanted to change direction. I think that while in the boat, u would equip the wind waker to a button and if u hold the button, u could change the wind with the C-stick. Or something like that.

Just like to point out, that we're probably not going to see the "Wind Waker" in the new Zelda. Nintendo knew that fans didnt like the sailing as much as originally planned, and the wind thing eventually just pissed people off.

I would like to see a way to quickly set-up items to the Y, Z, and X buttons. I thought that entering a menu every 5 seconds got annoying after 20 hours of gameplay. Much more annoying than I remember Ocarina Of Time or Majora's Mask being.

ora Link is best. Way better than the aquatic activities in Mario Sunshine.

Meh. I liked running across the water with the water pack in Sunshine. I had more fun with it than Swimming around as Zora Link.

And for the record, Oni Link was the best.......

Who cares. They werent potential customers in the first place, so why care what they think?

my wild, out of the park educated guess on the Revolution :

Dual Processors (1.8, Probably Power PC G5's)
256 MB Ram
Custom ATI Video Card, 128/256 MB
15 GB, 7200 RPM Hard-Drive
720p compliant
Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround Sound

Gyration enabled controllers
Wi-Fi or Wi-Max enabled
With some other stuff, I cant really comprehend of this moment.

Reader Reviews / NBA Street V3 w/ Mario Allstars!
« on: February 24, 2005, 05:30:13 PM »
EA sports has taken quite a dive in quality over the past year or so. Every major EA sports title has failed to upgrade there product significantly enough to make heads turn, like they have in the past. Has EA Sports Big followed there bigger brother into mediocrity?

Short answer? No.

V3 boasts a great many things. These things include; Amazingly unrealistic air-time, excellent character creation, a relatively deep "Street Challenge" mode and even Mario, Luigi and Peach as the Mario AllStars. The addition of "The Trick Stick" allows you to toggle through some over the top, Globe-Trotter esque tricks with the swiftest of ease. "The Game Breaker" will allow you to not only increase your score substancially, but decrease your opponents - with amazingly unique moves that arent even close to physically possible.

In the Street Challenge mode (Basically Career mode), you start by creating a character, a team, a court and a rep. You start by playing other shmo's on your way up to NBA Street allstar. Facing countless teams in games of 3 on 3 with the occasional sckewed rule in an attempt to earn "Rep" to increase you and your teams talent.

Visually, NBA Street Delivers with a variety of well designed character models, some nice blur and "Game Breaker" affects. The subtle saturation of colors definately helps V3 stand above, not only it's previous titles - but it's clones as well.

Audio wise, its very well done. A wide sound-track featuring variety of new and experianced musicians, and a few original tunes will give you something enjoyable to listen to, whilst your breakin' rims. The notable addition of (and believe me, I never thought this'd ever be a positive) the "Beastie Boys" as both the artist's of the theme song and playable characters will keep you wondering what else EA's got up there sleeves. The announcer is relatively funny, and legitimately sounds like he's watching the game.

Oh, its not all good people. The one main issue that I came across after my time with NBA Street V3, was the eventual loss of intrest in playing games. The arbitrary "3 on 3 to 21" is the gameplay mode you'll be forced to play most often, and the other modes, at least in story, are just minor alterations to said mode. For instance, you'll be asked to score 12 points in dunks, or the game will go up to 30, or points will be doubled - nothing substancial is done differently. At least not from where I see it.

Overall

NBA Street V3 is definately my favorite B-Ball title in a long while. Despite some monotony in the actual gameplay, it's still has a unique-ness that you wont be able to find in any Sim game.

Graphics - 18/20
Gameplay - 15/20
Audio - 19/20
Unique-ness - 20/20
Multi-Player - 16/20

Overall - 88/100
