Nintendo Gaming / My GC Dying and coming back to life

I have only had my GC for 3 months and as of late it has a habit now of starting and stopping on its own. After I shut it off for a while it may work again or not. Now there is no dust nor does it overheat. I lost my original power adapter and  purchased a 3rd part on and now this problem starts up. SO should I get a factory adapter or is there a bigger issue at hand? Thank you for your input
