General Gaming / RE:NES Remake??
« on: April 13, 2005, 01:26:43 PM »
I have yet to find any reviews on this system as it is so new, but from what I hear eStarland.com is pretty reliable, I was all set to order from them but that idea got shot down as they do not ship to Canada unless you are a wholesaler, which is why I am in the process of trying to get a local game shop to order a few.  If I do end up picking one up I will be sure to post a review.

Not too sure it it is made in Asia or not, but according to the site you don't need a 60 to 72 pin converter to play the North American games.  Just plug them in and start playing.  Here is the link

I am in the process of seeing if a local game shop will bring these in for sale.  I am looking to pick up one as my NES died and I still have lots of working games.  I just don't want to pay the crazy shipping rates involved with this product, and the one place that I found that has low shipping rates does not ship to Canada

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Multiple players - GBA or no GBA?
« on: March 04, 2005, 01:56:12 AM »
Yes four swords does require multiple GBA's.   This is not the only game that requires this but it is not the norm.  You can find many multiplayer games that allow you to play with just the controllers.  If the game requires GBA's for multiplayer, it will tell you on the box or in the manual.  Honestly though, you should find multiple titles for you and your husband to play together.  Some titles that my wife and I enjoy together are Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, and Mario Party.  Good luck on the search and have fun.

Mine is X SMF X
I mostly play Halo 2 online but I also play Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike and Forza quite a bit as well.  I have a few other Live games but those ones are in the main rotation.

Myself, I would pick up the monkey ball pack, I have both Monkey Ball 1 & 2 as well as Sunshine, and I would have to say I enjoyed Monkey ball much more.   Plus it is multiplayer so you and your daughter can play at the same time.

I have been through this game twice now and I still have the itch to play it , it is taking forever to get enough money to buy the infinite rocket launcher, but I am sure it will be worth it.  I would have to rate this game on of the best of all time, love the headshots

Not exactly, you supposedly have to shoot into the water a bunch of times on the dock, some sort of glitch thingy.  Surprisingly after beating the game, when you are playing it again in round two, I found one of the most fun things to do is shoot a cow with a magnum, after I beat the game in the wee hours of the morning, I started over, and maybe it was becuase I was so tired, but i just started picking off cows with my magnum, quite satisfying I tell you......lol

To say this game is anything but the best is an understatement.  I love the new over the shoulder cam.  I am in chapter 3 now and this game really ramps up the difficulty once you get here.  My only issue is how dark it is, maybe it is just my TV, but my XBOX and DVD player show up nice and celar, oh well, the darkness can be worked around, this game is awsome.  Gotta go play!!!

General Gaming / Component Video Cables for the Gamecube
« on: January 09, 2005, 12:00:47 PM »
Hello All,

I am hoping that someone may be of assistance with this as I have looked all over and have come up with no answers.  I just recently bought a new HDTV and I am looking for component cables for the cube.  I have the HDTV kit for my XBOX but trying to find the cables for the cube is like looking for a needle in a haystack.  Nintendo.com is sold out and Lik Sang wants my first born to cover the express shipping (regular shipping takes 2 to 4 weeks. Does anyone know of any retailers that sell the component cables in Canada? I checked out two EB locations and they had no idea what I was talking about.  Please help!!!!

Edit:  Sorry all, I finally found the answer that I was looking for, looks like I will either have to wait for Nintendo to re-stock the cables or pay an arm and a leg for shipping, oh well, it better be worth it .

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Best 3rd party Controllers, programmable and non?
« on: December 19, 2004, 08:12:18 AM »
I have heard good things about mad catz controllers.  I know I would stay away from Hip Gear controllers if you could.  I am not too sure of the quality of their cube controllers, but I got one for my XBOX the other day, granted it was only $15 Canadian, but the quality is very poor.   I think it is best to save up some extra cash and go for the offical gear.  I have heard good things about the nyko air flow controllers as well, the only negative thing I heard about them is that the cooling fans wear out quite quickly.

Yes, it should be out in mid Febuary, and supposedly it will have online gameplay as well, but I will believe that one when I see it.  But to answer your question, yes, it is coming to the Cube.

General Gaming / RE:Sell XBox for a Gamecube?
« on: December 05, 2004, 02:06:01 AM »
I would have to say do it.   I did a similar thing, I had both a XBOX and a Cube, but when my XBOX died, instead of saving to buy a new one, I brought it in to my local EB and traded it, an extra controller and the 5 games I had for in and got $300 Canadian in store credit.  I then went on a Cube game buying spree.  I have found there are more than enough games in various genres to satisfy my gaming needs.  But again, the decision is yours and yours alone, only you can make it.  If you can own both, then go for it, if not, maybe trying selling your XBOX to a friend, that way you can still enjoy it

I have 2 offical Nintendo 251 cards, I bought a second one pre-owned just in case from EB for $9.99 Canadian, I think it is $19.99 Canadian for a new one though.

Ah, but the best is yet to come, Ghost Recon 2, and the word on the street it will have full online abilities just like it's PS2 and XBOX cousins.

RE0 the REmake and the soon to be realeased RE4 area all excellent choices.  If your looking for pure fun, check out Super Monkey Ball 1 or 2, I have them both, awsome games.  Eternal Darkness is another one to look into if you are really into spooky games.  Mario Kart is another fun title to have around for when friends drop by, excellent multiplayer experience.   I got rid of my XBOX as well, the thing just stopped working so I traded it in for cube games.

This is bad news, but I figured this would happen, I dropped my subscription to the channel after the merge as I hated most of the G4 shows.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Disturbing conversation overhead at a Game Stop...
« on: November 12, 2004, 02:16:41 PM »
I have yet to see the point of console bashing.  I have owned all three systems at one time or another and there was a time where I owned all three at the same time.  I just don't understand how gamers can put down the gamecube.  After my xbox broke, which they all seem to do, and I sold my PS2, I relly fell in love with this system, it has everything I need to satisfy my gaming appitite.  I traded my broken xbox and all my games for more cube games, no regrets here.  If I were you, I would have walked up with that copy of Mario Tennis with a big smile from ear to ear and plopped down the cash and asked what they thought of this game

Hey there,

You are more than likely entering the codes correctly as I have thought the same thing as well.  It does unlock things, but they do not save.  For example, I won a legends tour match and they gave me a code to unlock Justin Timberlake....woo hoo eh.  So i typed in the code to unlock him, it worked, and I saved my profile, but when I turned on my cube again to play the game, Mr. Timberlake was not there anymore, I have to put in the password everytime I want to use him, which is pretty much never anyway.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Are the memory cards region specific?
« on: November 10, 2004, 05:08:29 AM »
I believe that they are, I know a buddy of mine ran into this with a PS2 memory card, and if I remember correctly I saw somethign about this on TV.  It could also be as it is a third party memory card.  I bought one for my cube when I first got it and it corrupted all my save files within a few days, I returned it and got a offical Nintendo one.  You may save a bit of cash by getting a 3rd party card, but they usually cause more trouble then thay are worth.  They only third party card I can reccemond is the ones by Nyko, no problems there.
