Nintendo Gaming / RE: Ds games: Titles you hope are on the horizon
« on: July 26, 2004, 10:48:49 AM »
The DS games I pray for on a daily basis:

1.  Nintendo Puzzle Collection:  I imported this sucker and it is awesome.  This would make the perfect pack in game for the DS.  Everyone loves Dr. Mario, all the games have multiplayer modes perfect for wireless, and Yoshis Cookie and Panel De Pon would control great with the touchpad.  I think we have a pretty good shot at getting the Puzzle Collection on the DS.  Nintendo announced and english version and even included it on a GC demo disk, but it has since vanished.  I have a feeling it is being held back for the DS.

2.  Magic the Gathering:  I am a recovering Magic addict.  I finally had to quit because the habit was just too expensive.  I would weep hot tears of joy if Wizards ported Magic onto the DS.  With the touch screen it is the perfect platform for card games.  Unfortunately I don't think it will ever happen.  But with any luck they will at least release a Duel Masters game, which I think would still be pretty fun.

3.  Fire Emblem DS.  The two screens would be perfect for Fire Emblem.  Unit info on the top screen and the map on the bottom.  Use the stylus to move your troops around.  Awesome!

4.  Warcraft (or some other good RTS):  I am pretty sure that the DS will eventually be home to the first console RTS game that doesn't suck.  The touchscreen will allow you to select and group units.  The top screen would have the map and perhaps other vital statistics.

5.  SSBM DS:  We have all wanted to play Smash Bros. online with our far away friends.  Here is our chance.

I played the DS twice at E3 and I can assure all of you that it kicks butt.  It is not nearly as big and bulky as some of the pics make it look.  Infact, when it is folded up it looks really cool.  The ony concern I have is that Nintendo won't make use of its wireless internet capabilities.  As long as it launches with a couple games that I can play with my friends over the internet, I will be waiting in line at EB with cash in hand on launch day.  Ok, the truth is I will be waiting in line with cash in hand no matter what.  How can I say no to a new Mario, Mario 64x4, Animal Crossing, and Metroid?  I cant.
