I can't wait anymore. Even though tWW was terrible disappointing, I really hope this game beats out OoT.

tWW had a talking boat and OoT had a horse who likes carrots- I wonder what interesting traveling companion THIS game will have?

*continues to annoy Bill*

One thing I hope they do is make the world completely cohesive, Like LTTP. OoT and MM had all of the places divided up. OoT had Hyrule Field, and then everything felt unnaturally "placed", as it branched out of the field (not really that big of a flaw). Same with MM. tWW had all of the islands in one square, and one island in each square, in the CENTER of each square (again, not really a flaw).

I hope this game is like LTTP's overworld, and has the entire world in one place, and not divided up into squares or the OoT and MM "transition" between going from place to place. If so, then that will be a definite plus.

Hell, a 3D LTTP would be SO awesome, too.

I really can't decide between LTTP and OoT as my favorite Zelda, but I like them both about the same (OoT beats LTTP in some areas, and vica versa). However, I think OoT may just SLIGHTLY edge LTTP out. One can dream this may just beat both of them. As I said before, *looks around to make sure Bill isn't in sight* I hope it makes up for tWW. Man, that game SUCK--- *Bill appears out of nowhere, and chases Smashman around the forum with the Never Happening Hammer.*

I was JK about tWW sucking. It didn't. Just a very big disappointment for me. It was still a fairly solid game. I mean, it had a ferris wheel for god sakes.

Don't whack me in the head again, Bill. I'll be good.

This game darn well better be a huge improvement of tWW. Like the four reasons I listed, want the game long, challenging, lots of time and effort put in, and lots of variety. If not, I will be sorely disappointed, just like tWW.

The flaws of Wind Waker

Let's see...

1. It was easy.
2. It was short.
3. It was rushed.
4. It was monotonous.

I personally loved the graphics, but in most cases you can add that to the list.

This game will totally make up for the utter disappointment of tWW. Just look at those graphics. It looks like OoT 100x better. The gameplay will hopefully be fun, and the game long and challenging. Looks like this game could be the best game ever, folks! I was like 'woah' when I looked at the screenshots. I drowned in my own drool. Looks like GCN will go out with a bang.

The new GCN Zelda game of 2005 will make up for the major disappointment of WW, without a doubt.

Super Mario 64 and OOT are both, without a doubt, superior to both SMS and WW. Both SMS and WW were both great games, but both felt rushed and short. Super Mario 64 and OOT were both great classics, and both are among the greatest games of all-time. SMS and WW were both missing something. They were missing the essence that made SM64 and OOT the undeniable classics that they are. SMS had no variety in level design, 7 worlds as opposed to SM64's 15. It was a great, fun game, but not quite a classic as I thought it was below Nintendo's standards. WW was rushed, as it had too few dungeons, the whole world felt bland, and sailing just got tedious. OoT had many, many places, from castles, to mountains, to lakes, to forests, to deserts, to villages, to rivers. It had 9 superb dungeons. WW had... two somewhat interesting towns (Outset and Windfall), and occasional chunks of land in an overall empty sea. Five barely-decent dungeons, and two joke dungeons (Ganon's Tower and Forsaken Fortress).

You see, it doesn't matter when a game in a series comes out, it doesn't determine the quality. OoT > WW and SM64 > SMS are examples. I still feel WW to be the WORST game in the Zelda series, and OoT the best, followed closely by LTTP. LoZ and AoL are STILL classics in my mind, as is the original Metroid, Mario Bros. Mario Bros. 3. Super Mario Bros. 3 is still the greatest Mario game of all-time. It had so much variety in the items, suits, etc. You -CANNOT- compare Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64, or even Super Mario World to it. Super Mario World was MUCH shorter than SMB3, and was MUCH easier. In fact, SMB3 was near-impossible in some parts.

My 2 cents.

KDR- The 3D transition of Zelda killed the difficulty. Everyone agrees on that. OoT, MM, and tWW are not really all that difficult, but OoT and MM are still classics, IMHO. LoZ and AoL are STILL difficult, even today. Don't say that just because we get better at video games that that kills the difficulty. That isn't the case. All 3D games, of just about every franchise, just aren't as difficult as the 2D games, regardless of gaming experience.

First, Bill (Aurion) was my nemesis, and now I KDR_11k. Man, I bet everyone will hate me by next year. lol.

Water levels. Like in the Mario games, the water-based levels, where you have to tediously swim through water. I hate levels like that, and they make me zzzzZZZZZZzzzz. In OoT, the Water Temple is my least favorite dungeon.

Syl- I can understand you very well. I can understand how come may dislike LTTP, but it doesn't mean it is any less great as a whole. I just wish it was like OoT (having three c-button for item uses). However, just because something is dated, does not mean it still does not possess the same classic gameplay.

I think GCN is the greatest system of all-time, right alongside SNES

I think most "classics" are inherently flawed.  Most old games are outdated by now and have been replaced by much superior games by now, their only drawback being lack of nostalgic feelings.  Of course an old gamer with nostalgia blinding him won't acknowledge when someone who didn't play the game at a young enough age to create nostalgia tells him his favourite classics suck.  Would you rather play Space Invaders or Ikaruga? Metroid or Super Metroid (or Zero Mission, if that makes you happier)?

Lemme break it down one at a time. He says he thinks most classics are flawed... How? Old games... outdated? I think not. They still have that same classic gameplay. This post is completely off-the-mark. Nostalgia blinding? The old games are considered masterpieces because that is exactly what they are... masterpieces... no nostalgia involved. You, sir, have no right to sass off like that, and you need to grasp true quality games, no matter if they made now or a thousand years ago. PS... I'm sure anyone who has actually played OoT knows it is one of the best games of all-time. It DID NOT feel like a chore. Let me tell you, the Triforce shard collecting in tWW was the biggest chore in ANY of the Zelda games. NOTHING in OoT felt like a chore. The main quest was the greatest experience in any video game, of all-time, IMO. WW's was good as well, but it felt very empty and had flaws. You also said you don't like because of the camera and controls... What's next? Saying you don't like LTTP because you can't figure out how to choose an item?!?!? Please... OoT's controls were natural to get used to.

There, I flamed his posts, instead of him. I'm sorry, KDR_11k, but please stop playing video games and come back when you can learn to appreciate the classics.

Well, anyway, I believe games to have ALWAYS been... 80-90% mostly crap, but the classic games we love are among the 20 or so percentage. It is frustrating to look through a pile of mostly crappy games, and find only 1 or 2 decent ones. The classics that we love are cherished forever, despite age. The games we play today will, at the very least, be respected in the year 9999. Most games are crap, yet the classics shine through. That's how it has ALWAYS been.

I have heard Retro Studios is trying to make this twice as good as MP, not to mention twice as long. If that is true, then this game JUST might beat out OoT as my favorite game of all-time.

From what I've seen, PN03 seems like a like-it or hate-it game, as you will either love or hate the mechanics and gameplay style.

I've actually enjoyed debating this whole topic... but, yes, I am getting repetitious, and I now am going to close saying- I think OoT is superior to tWW.

But, I will probably just get bored, come back, post some more, and aggravate people even more, especially Bill...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Zelda: Wind Waker was it a let down?

SgtShiversBen- that is the exact thing that saved WW. The vast world. Going from Outset Island to Forsaken Fortress, you are going across the world. The wonderful atmosphere and realism is the key element of what saved tWW for me.

KDR_11k- I understand you perfectly. You find todays games more enjoyable because of the better system functions, but don't say that you outright HATE OoT, or Metroid, as that is just being unfair.

odifiend- Finally, someone who I can agree with. What do you mean OoT was awesome at the time of its release? It is STILL one of the all-time greats. And, the concept of sequels never applied to the Zelda games. WW is no more a sequel to OoT, then OoT is to LTTP. Your final sentences explain the glaring flaws of tWW perfectly. All you do, for most of the Heart Piece collecting, was sail... and sail... and sail... I, as stubborn as I sound, just don't understand how anyone can tolerate sailing for more than say... 10 minutes, at maximum. It becomes unbearable...

I LOVED how whenever you got a new item, several more places were open to explore. LTTP for example. The three 3D Zeldas did not have much of this, but I guess the styles are different.

KDR- games back then are classics FOR A REASON. Everybody loved them LOZ- classic. AOL- classic. LTTP- classic. Super Metroid- classic. Metroid- classic. You don't think OoT was fun??? I had more enjoyment out of that game than any other game I've played. I never get sick of it, and always go back for more. It is the one of the all-time best games ever.

And, OoT is NOT my first Zelda. LTTP is. Then LA. Then OoT. OoT > all, folks. You think all of the mediocre crap of today is superior to the classics of yesteryear???

KDR_11k- lol. I don't think he MEANT for it to sound like that. I think he meant for grappling to have more uses in term of possibly climb up stuff, pull stuff, or bungee jumping... those things would've been cool.

- NintendoFan -- the grappling hook was probably one of the few useful items in the game.

KDR_11k- maybe you shouldn't play video games...

Some more thoughts:

tWW was just inferior to OoT in every way, and, now that the we have lost some of that etheral wow effect, the game is just plain worse than OoT. OoT is amazing, and tWW is its retarded cousin. OoT is bigger, and tWW just didn't revolutionize the way OoT did. tWW is just shorter, and the dungeons are smaller, and EACH and EVERY one is easy, and can EASILY be beaten by a 7-year-old, while OoT's were all superb. Everywhere else other than this site, everyone thinks sailing is a flaw, while people here overrate the game, greatly. If you can beat the tWW in over a week, then you either suck at video games majorly. tWW can take 5 hours to beat if one knows what they're doing, while OoT takes 8-9 hours. There was NO point in getting all of the heart pieces in tWW, unlike OoT and tWW, because the world was just too big and tedious to traverse. OoT definitely beats WW in terms of game size. WW is almost nothing but a vacuous Great Sea, while OoT has more and larger dungeons.

I know I am have repeated myself a couple times, but those are a few thoughts I needed to share.
