Nintendo Gaming / RE:no disc error
« on: September 05, 2003, 03:29:40 PM »
Mine started doing it too.  First time I just rebooted the machine and it worked.  The unit ran for a few hours with no problems.  Then it did it again last night.  I got online and was looking for ideas about what it could be.  Walked back in and it wored fine.  Tonight it won't load anything.  Tried several games.

Nintendo wants to charge $80 to fix it because my unit is over a year old.  That's down right wrong to charge half the cost of the unit to fix it.  I've probably only used it about 5 times a month if you average it out over the 18 months I've owned it.  It's not been abused by any means.  I tried being nice, it was hard to be nice when the talking head tells me that I should clean all 12 discs that I tried because they all might be dirty!    I'm usually calm and cool and can get what I want by being nice to the support guys.  This guy was just being and ass.  When I politely asked if this was a common probelm I was told.  "less than 1% of units have any kind of problem like that".  I told him to forget it, I'd just buy a PS2 or Xbox if I was going to pay that much.

Guess I'll crack the sucker open and take a look since my warrenty is gone.
