Don't try to make an uncertainty a fact.  No one knows the exact date cell will be ready, nor if ps3 will debute with it.

Right, all we can say that the PS3 release date is kinda in the air(uncertain) which sucks for Sony.

Well if this chip can really do what IBM is saying it can and it goes in the GC's successor then big score for N5. Its good also in how it uses the same PowerPC chip structure which will make the N5 more easily backwards compatible, especially if Nintendo sticks with ATI.

Oh and I just thought of something, I'm not sure if this is true so I'm asking everyone out there. If the N5 shares the same structure on its GPU with the Xbox2( both are by ATI) and the N5 shares it's CPU with PS3 then would that make porting easier or no?

Not necessarily.  The actual report only states that both chips will share Technology, not 100% same architecture, nor design.  As the N5 CPU will probably built of PowerPC architecture, the Cell in PS3 is much different.  Tho for MS it may be easy to port over.  We can make a hypothesis that MS will probly use stock parts and NOT 'customize' anything like Nintendo is know for.  Look at the Gekko, they got nearly 90% more preformance out of the chip with a slight overclock and 27 or 29(somewhere around there) code optimizations.  Same thing goes for N5s ATi card, as its been in R&D for a yr and half b4 MS and ATi ever announced a deal.  Even with the differences it could still be easy to port.  However it depends on the N5s architecture as a whole as well.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GC2's Launch
« on: June 30, 2003, 11:38:40 AM »
Again, ppl said the same thing about Nintendo when the N64 and PSX were on the scene.  Level of popularity, Nintendo's popularity dropped like a rock in about a yr or so and Sonys(PSX) rose up almost instantly.  So its not impossible for N to recapture the lead, esp with todays audience which is so flexible etc; meaning somebody can be on top and on the bottom the next, ppl will flock to whatevers cool and what-not.

I agree the bundle pack isnt a good idea at launch or near it IMO.  And as far as games is concerned, I agree.  All Nintendo has to do is change 100% in some aspects, such as marketing, image etc and they will have a very good chance of 'coming back' coupled with a timed launch.

Well my biggest concern is something that no one seems to be mentioning....ATI. All signs point to ATI providing the GPU for both the GC2 and X-box 2. I see that as a big conflict of interest from a hardware standpoint. I don't know how ATI can balance supplying two different GPU's to two different competing consoles. If either console gets the better GPU, I'm sure there would be some sort of backlash. Also both competitors would be able to find out what the other is planning from a hardware standpoint more easily. There could be some potention benefits but the negatives outweigh the positives in my opinion. Well giving each companies history....I would think Nintendo would end up with the better chip. MS is more like to go with a slightly customize version of ATI's latest Radeon while Nintendo likes to have have custom hardware.  Of course I could be seeing to much into this. I mean the SNES and Genesis both had Motorola CPUs(SNES has a 65536? and Genesis had a 68000). The PS1 and N64 both had MIPS based CPU's(PS had a R3000a and N64 has a R4300i)...but I don't know it still makes me uneasy. What do you guys think?

I doubt it would make any difference.  You're right about MS would probly go with a stock R420/500 while Nintendo (which has much closer ties with ATi AND ArtX) would probly go with a customized R420/500 chip; as well as Nintendos own Hardware engineers would probly be involved as well.  So i doubt thered be any stealign of ideas, as Im sure there would be contracts and all kinds of high-profile agreements going on between Nintendo/ATi and MS/ATi.

Nintendo Gaming / GC2 and Mario 128 info update

Gamesarefun reports via Gamefront

"Gamefront reports that Mario 128's developement concentrates on new ideas which haven't been done before. This is the reason that no actual footage was shown at this year's E3; they feared that their ideas would be stolen.

The work on a Gamecube successor is on course and Nintendo is in contact with many software producers. Nintendo is making improvements ideas and taking criticism opinions to ensure that it will take the lead in the next console war."

On GC2, very interesting.  Looks like Nintendo is pretty serious about this next gen., throwing in ALOT of their 6 Bill $ chest, and talks with devs.  What do u guys think about Nintendos planning and attitude?

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda: WW tops 300,000 pre-orders
« on: March 04, 2003, 07:29:16 AM »
N-philes has all the info.  Zelda toped 300,000 at the begining of March, only 2 weeks after the official pre-order service started(Feb. 16).  I'd say thats mighty impressive, especially for a so-called "kiddie" game competing against 2 platforms.  Btw, was LoZ OoT pre-order record 350,000?  If so, then Wind Waker will probably break it, if not tie it.

What do u guys think?

KIK A$$!!  Ive been gone for a while and look what pops up.  It is quiet obvious that the title is exclusive, would Nintendo be working on it too if it wasn't?-No.  Then i wonder about the MGS remake thats going multiplatform, guess thats true but I'll wait till Konami gives a go.  In the end I would asume that this title isnt a port but a new epsiode, a side-story actually.  I couldnt see the point in having 2 MGS remakes on the GC so.  I'll definately be buying this one up, I wonder how far along they are.  A well, bout time Konami got its head out of its a$$...
