WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU WANT TO GET XBOX LIVE WHEN YOU COULD BE PLAYING SUPERIOR ONLINE GAMES FOR FREE ON THE PC!!!
ok, I’ll give you the reasons.

1. no cheaters
2. unique gamertags in all games
3. lo lag
4. built in voice communication with voice masking
5. scoreboards
6. all games on one place
7. no patch (bug free games)

and much more. Not to mention a lot of great games like Gotham2. Believe me, LIVE is worth every $! Try once, I’m sure you’ll find LIVE as great online service.
Quote

Battlefield 1942 owns most online shooters with tons of vehicles, and up to 64 players... and its FREE
I’m not much into fps games.
Quote

Plus dozens of the greatest RTS games, RPGs, action games, shooters, and more can all be played online on the pc for not a cent more than the games cost and the internet fees.
I know. I play some PC games online, like worms on wormnet. But, believe me, LIVE > PC online.
Quote

And then if you have money to throw on subscriptions there are alot of MMO games.
Yes, but they are expensive.
Quote

The bottom line is: The PC is the undispted king of online games.
No it isn’t. I’ll put LIVE at first place.
Quote

So instead of MS and Sony putting their bucks into a "war" they cannot win, why don't they try and make CONSOLE gaming better, like Nintendo?
???
Quote

Just how are PC titles limited? Besides sports and fighting games, many which have only just started to allow people to play online(in fact if my memory serves correctly Virtua Fighter 2 was online for the PC).
Only blind man can’t se shortage of some genre for PC.
Quote

Also many of those games you mention like SSX3 allow ou to compete aganist only one person which in my mind negates the reason for online play.
What’s wrong with 1 vs. 1?
Quote

Many a time I simply left a server because one kid ruined the experience for everyone.
And that’s cant happened to any other network/service? I have seen that so many times in (PC) CS games.
Quote

Also without the PC and PC online gaming, Microsoft would have never made a console, because they survive on western games which thrive on the functionality of online gaming.
???
Quote

My point is online gaming on the PC is more fun without paying a subscription than console subscription services will probably ever be. So consoles should stick to their own game. Maybe one day consoles should be online, but it is not now.
No. Now is the great time for online gaming. Just spend few hours on live, and you’ll find out what I’m talking about.

Agree. English isn’t my primary language, but I’ll try to make it better. Anyway, don’t judge my English, it’s the online we are talking here .

Manchester United fans really sux. Anyway:

online
Have you ever heard for Amiga game called Populous? I play that game online 15 years ago using 9600 modem...

servers & VOIP
Don’t tell me anything about that. 3 years ago, I did setup one. I know TCP/IP better than anyone here. I also have Ventrilo server online about 6 months, and guess what, it doesn’t support voice masking like XBOX LIVE!

cheaters
It’s normal thing on PC games. Software like Punkbuster can stop them a little, but if you find humorous to kick cheaters constantly, good for you. Play with them until the rest of your life.

You are acting as pathetic newbie.

I didn't like it long before I even knew the Gamecube existed.
You simply didn’t find good game. Online is addicted for everybody with good games.
Quote

And anyhow, most here hated online before XBLive was an issue.
Typical Nintendo fan response. Same as above.
Quote

I myself enjoyed online DC games, but find console online gaming limited.
You are comparing DC online with Xbox LIVE?????
Quote

Take your fan boy crap to another forum, it isn't needed here.
Believe me, I’m trying to avoid this forum as hard as I can. There are so many kids here.
Quote

I got Unreal Championship, which had massive frame rate problems.
Just turn off FSAA, you’ll have 60+ fps.
Quote

Also there is no ability to create user- created maps which limits replay value.
There is a lots of downloadable stuff!!!
Quote

Did I just get insulted by someone who plays gotham2 online? Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot I was playing doom online before you had the internet.
You are pathetic indeed.
Quote

I mean I pay around 15 bucks a month for the games I play online .
15 bucks is a lot more than 7. Shame on you.
Quote

I understand why a game like everquest has a monthly fee, it costs a whole lot of money to keep it online. But you couldn't force me to pay for a game like gotham 2 when the game is hosted off of my hardware to find someone to play the game.
You are a kid, or you don’t know anything about servers. What do you think how much cost maintaining of live servers? There are a lot of them, you know? Keep playing PC games with cheaters, maybe you are one of them. There is NO SINGL ONE CHEATER ON LIVE.
Quote

I mean let's be honest here, this is a standard service for almost all online PC games.
PC servers with bunch of cheaters… No tnx, I’ll pay for lag/cheaters free game.
Quote

VoIP has been on pc for several years now, it's nothing new to me, and it's nothing all that special.
I didn’t see noone PC game with built in VoIP + voice masking.

No. It’s because most GC users don’t like online gaming only because Nintendo doesn’t have their own GC Live. You are company lover, not game lover! That’s bad! You are acting like kiddies.

You are so pathetic! most gamecube owners are pathetic. that's why I'm shame for owning gc. it's no wonder that people think - gc is teh kiddy.

"YOU want online"
ask your frends. Almost everyone wants online games.

"Nintendo said online gaming isn't profitable JUST YET"
It doesent have to be. Look what MS doing now. They know they'll make big money soon. And they are 100% online ready next gen, Nintendo isnt.

"If it's profitable next gen, expect N to include it."
Oh, it isnt something like: ok, online is profitabile now, we'll bring N LIVE tomorrow. Building Xbox LIVE took MS almost  2 years. You must be ready for future, or there wont be future for N.

"You want a realistic racer? Well, I don't"
That's what I am talking about. CG got to have various types of games for all gamers! N doesent have realistic car game, and that hurts GC more than you can imagine! A lot of people buy Xbox or PS2 for GT, PGR, RSC ...

"I think a racing game online isn't really a good thing."
Yeah, right!

"IF you find that the single player/multiplayer is worse than online, than there is a reason why you would like online in the first place."
Online is alwaus better than Singl Player. Real people >>> computer AI

"Great racers like Mario Kart and F-Zero don't need online because the single player is just as good."
GT, PGR, RSC are great racers also. online give that games whole new dimension. as I sad before: Real people >>> computer AI

"because with reality you cant use your immagination to input some awesome game mechanic and the realistic factor makes a game go MEH"
Let me guess, you have only GC? there are a lot of fantastic realistic games.

"Microsoft is forcing you to play on their network"
that network is in my opinion great service! all my gaming buds in one place, lag free, same gametags in all games, free long distance calling to my friends...

Let's all go to a dictionary and look up the definition of a stereotype.

Stereotype:
An oversimplified standardized image or idea held by one person or group
ok, tnx!

Wow, nice stereotype there.

No.

"I actually was never interested in _______________ (enter rare game) from the beginning"

is stereotype.

Did you ever seen BurnOut2 PS2? It looks better than GC. Even Xbox does have hardly better graphics, mostly because of progressive scan output. My opinion: Xbox > PS2 > GC

I listen this $hit every day!!! I'll tell you why: because we want online games! I don’t care if they lose big money; I want to play games online! I want Nintendo LIVE this gen! Throw all your money Nintendo there that service will be payable next gen for sure.

Listen me carefully mouse_clicker, N5 will be dead from the beginning if only N5 doesn’t have online service! Time has changed Nintendo, people want online games! If you doesn’t listen us, you dig your own grave.

Perhaps that notion is unfounded, but that's what I've noticed.

:)))))
You loved Burnout 3 :) there is no Burnout 3! Can you lend me your copy of "Burnout 3" please?

About extras in Burnout 2: Xbox and GC version are the same! But, graphics is better in Xbox ver., so I can declare Xbox version as the best version. Believe me, I saw all 3 version of Burnout 2.

About F-Zero. I think it is GREAT game. But, it's not my type of game! I don’t want futuristic racing games! I want realistic car racing games. Maybe, just maybe, I would buy F-Zero for online mplayer, but since game isn't online, no F-Zero for me.

Actually, there is now one great online game. Midtown Madness 3! Single Player isn't great, but online mplayer is a blast! I spent one month playing that game at my friend’s house. Fantastic game! I just waited for PGR2 to buy an Xbox. And with RSC2, now, I don’t have any doubt about Xbox. For me Xbox LIVE is the best thing ever happened in the console gaming! It's a shame that Nintendo doesn’t think that too! MS and Sony will be 100% online ready for next generation, what will Nintendo do? Of course I'll get N5, but as the years goes, I spend less and less time playing Nintendo products (don’t count GBA). Just go online Nintendo, go online!

Burnout 1 - bad game, too arcade, CG had the worst port, no online
Burnout 2 - ok game, too arcade, CG had the worst port (I have PS2 ver.), no online
F1 2001 - this game is piece of $hit, CG had the worst port, no online
F-Zero GX - it is futuristic, I don’t want that, no online too!!!

Rally Sport Chalenge2, Project Gotham racing, GT4, all of them are great racers, and ONLINE. Nintendo, you are so stupid. You had a chance with MK: DD going online and you blow the game!!! Now, I don’t even want to buy that game. I want online mplayer for racers; I'll boycott every offline racer.
