Nintendo Gaming / F-Zero GX = 10.0?
« on: September 07, 2003, 10:07:22 AM »
how would you rate F-Zero?  does it have that addictive quality that you expect from Nintendo?  the game never really interested me at first, but now that I look at a few reviews it looks awesome.  I guess just tell what you think about the game.  Im asking this because now Im considering buying it but my budget only allows about 1 game every 3-4 months .  thanks

oh yea, I hope this doesnt get deleted or moved; Im asking what you like about it and what you think in general

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Will Nintendo EVER go online?
« on: July 30, 2003, 08:39:53 PM »
"Suppossing two swallows carried it . . . " haha, guess thats another story

I dont think nintendo will ever go online simply because of their stubborness to accept the inevitable . . . what the masses want.  in this case, I think I can safely say every nintendo gamer wants online games on their fav console.  nintendo will never, ever have the upper hand on the video game market if they keep up this marketing strategy.  innovation sounds great on paper, but I cannot name one person who likes metroid prime, star fox, or the cel-shaded zelda--aside from the people on the internet--and I cant really name that many that like any of nintendos first party titles.  therefore, I hope nintendo actually does NOT go online because they really wont last that long if you think about it.

ok, start flaming me now.  thats ok cause im never gonna look at this thread again

Nintendo Gaming / Phantasy Star Online
« on: June 26, 2003, 09:44:50 AM »
I got PSO in the mail today in a trade on TGN.  it didnt come with a manuel, and Ive never played the game before.  so I pop the game in and everythings cool.  now Ive been playing it for the last few hours and Im ready to quit but I cant figure out where/how to save it.  it took me forever to even figure out how to get off the planet by "dropping" the teleporter thing. . . and Im guessing it says all this stuff in the manuel, but of course Im an idiot so it might not say anything about it in the manuel, lol.  could someone please tell me how to do this?  also, is there any combination of buttons that allows you to manuelly aim?  this auto aim (yes, Im using a ranger) is really getting on my nerves

hey bloodworth, I think I finally got it right this time

alrighty, perhaps I'll get Advance Wars instead then.  one more thing, are there any GBA game that support Dolby surround sound, by chance?  lol, I really dont want to have to sit through terribly repetitive music on my TV

heres the games I want so far, tell me if it sounds pretty good:
Golden Sun
Metroid Fusion
Golden Sun 2
Tactics Ogre
Super Mario World 3
Pokemon Sapphire (just maybe)
Advance Wars
Phantasy Star Collection (maybe)
Breathe of Fire II (if I cant find anything else)

Im not going to buy every game for $30, so I'll buy them in the order of their price-drops, but that is pretty much in the order I want them

Nintendo Gaming / NHL Hitz. . . HELP
« on: June 25, 2003, 09:17:54 AM »
I got Hitz 2003 in a trade last week (and I love it btw), but Ive been wondering how to get attribute points for a created character.  you would think you would get like one point for every game you win or something but thats not the case.  I just cant figure out how to get them.  I know you can though because I was changing my guy's position the other day and I had 19 attribute points to assign.  gahhh. . . anyone know how it works?  thanks

7
Im definately getting Golden Sun and maybe Fusion soon after.  hows Breathe of Fire II?  no one has said anything about it on here but IGN gave it a pretty good score (8.3) and it sounds pretty cool too.  Im also thinking about Mario World 3. . . just too many games to choose from!  lol.  the Castlevania games dont really interest me, nor does Advance Wars but Im seeing all these good reviews of them.  I might just get that Bruce Lee game too

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GBA Games Worth It?
« on: June 24, 2003, 08:53:02 PM »
Well I have $290 lol, but of course not all of it goes to video games.  I was thinking the GBP is a one-time investment, and--like you said--the games are dirt cheap.  and plus, with the left over $240 (supossing I spent it all) I could buy a ton more GBA games than GC.  one drawback though, there's no way to carry all the games (GC and GBC) in one small case like the GC game case.

oh yea, any other games you would highly recommend?  I was also looking at LOTR:  the Two Towers; is it any good?

Nintendo Gaming / GBA Games Worth It?
« on: June 24, 2003, 06:47:20 PM »
Alright, Im a moderate gamer I guess you could say (I have about 15 GC games) and I was wondering if a GBA or GBP would be worth it?  I can get a used GBA for slightly lower than a new GBP, but Im leaning towards the GBP.  anyway, are the games for it worth the $50 for whichever I buy?  the games Im most interested in are Phantasy Star Collection, Golden Sun, and Breathe of Fire II. . . so do you think those games would be worth $50 to play?  or should I buy say WindWaker or Star Fox?  oh well, thanks in advance, lol

Nintendo Gaming / RE: the next next-gen console
« on: June 21, 2003, 01:07:40 PM »
DRJ, I agree about the memory card slots.  however, I think that the best idea would be to put the slots in the controllers, like you said.  I heard somewhere that Nintendo will use the same controller design from here out, so that doesnt look like it will happen.  a hard drive would be nice, just as long as they name it something else (i.e. internal memory) so it doesnt look like a xbox knock-off.  it seems that I read on ign (or some other website) that it wont feature backwards compatibility. . . it would be very nice though.  back to the memory cards, VMU (like the dreamcast) like cards would be great:  and that would be like an in-game extra info screen, like you said about the SP screen.  double audio/vid output would be cool, too, but just how would the console distuingish which character(s) go to which screen?  next to what you said about the release date, the next important thing is to make sure every person inside the gaming world knows about it, and atleast create SOME hype about it.  lots of release titles would be great, also.

Mouse, I agree

what all would you like to see in the next Nintendo console?

I want some way of turning it on/off without walking over to the console and hitting the button.  I mean, I can sit on the couch and turn the TV and dvd/surround sound on and off, but I still have to walk that 8 feet just to turn off my GC; just doesn't make sense.
it'd also be cool if EVERY first party controller was like a wavebird (wireless), and if the transmitter was already built in the console, so you would only have to buy the controller itself.  this would reduce 3rd party crap.  but on the otherhand, it may piss some 3rd party developers off because they cant rip people off with their crummy controllers.
thirdly, Id like to see the return of the mini-discs.  it really pisses me off when a ps2 or xbox game has easy, quick navigable menus so you can just fly through it, but you have to wait 3 minutes before you can actually play the game.
last of all, I want (this has nothing to do with the console) Nintendo to not come out letting sony and microsoft run all over them, letting them say that the Nintendo console is "just for kids."  if Nintendo would've released some propaganda--if you will--about how it is not a kiddy console, most people wouldn't think what sony and ms say about it.  but instead, Nintendo leaned back in their laz-i-boys and took it like a bitch.

anyways, what do you want to see in the next Big N console?

Nintendo Gaming / Rally games
« on: May 14, 2003, 11:07:05 AM »
Here's how it is:  I have exactly $22 for a new game.  There aren't many racing games for $20, so I've narrowed it down to either Dakar 2 or Pro Rally.  From what I've heard, neither of these are great, but, being a fan of motor racing, I'm getting one of them one way or another.  The thing I've found that most people say is wrong with Dakar 2 is that the graphics are bad and it's too "arcady" feeling.  Pro Rally seems to just be that it's an arcade-style game, and you can't change views.  Has anyone played either of these (or both) that can help me out?  I'm leaning towards Pro Rally because it's actual cars, and not SUVs, trucks, and motorcycles.

A little over half-way down the page talks about the action part.  It tells some about the "hacking" but not a whole lot.  Just saw this browsing the site, thought you all might like to see it, too.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Gamecube has stronger lineup this year?
« on: May 09, 2003, 01:50:24 PM »
Of the titles listed, heres what I'm planning on:
Tales of Symphonia
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
1080: Avalanche
Star Wars Rouge Squadron 3: Rebel Strike
Pilotwings (possibly)
Viewtiful Joe (possibly)

Plus Enter The Matrix, which I now have enough money for, just have to wait til next Thursday.  Wait, "Gamecube has stronger lineup this year?" are you talking about this year or next year?  Because as far as I know, half of those are supossed to be released next year.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GC demo disc for sale this month
« on: May 09, 2003, 01:36:13 PM »
A long time ago in the days of the PSX, I heard a rumor that you could send in a form (or go to a website) and select 4 games that you would like to try out, then Sony would make the custom demo.  I heard these things were going to be $10, but it never happened. . . or never actually was planned to happen.  I always thought it'd be a great idea.  I, for one, would do it.  It'd almost be like renting it, but only the first level of four different games. . . and yours to keep.

But yea, $9.99 is definately steep if it's going to be those that you play in the stores.  If not, it's still a little pricey but that would hopefully end after a while and they would lower it to like $6.99 or something.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Any chance of new titles?
« on: May 09, 2003, 11:23:33 AM »
Yea, Metroid Prime was spectacular in itself, but I just can't get into any science fiction game.  I'm not saying it wasn't good, it just wasn't good to me.  I know plenty of people who love it, but I would take a realistic game over a sci-fi game any day.  I can't find much to complain about---although playing for hour-upon-hour just to get a new weapon did get on my nerves.  Mario Sunshine was good, too, but lacking any major action.  I haven't played Wind Waker too much, and my allowance is going be going towards Enter the Matrix (Hey, taking a risk is always fun.)

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Any chance of new titles?
« on: May 08, 2003, 01:07:57 PM »
To be honest, I thought Metroid Prime wasn't nearly as good as I was hearing everyone say.  Sure, it's innovative, but it just wasn't my style of a game.  Mario Sunshine was also a huge dissappointment.  Star Fox was pretty good, but I didn't think highly enough of it to buy it.  Pikmin was ok for the first 3 hours, then it just got way to repititave (sp).  Overall, there is a lot more room left for Nintendo to impress me.  All these games were pretty fun, but none of 'em really clicked with me.  I would like for Nintendo to put some of their expertise into a racer. . . imagine it, Nintendo-quality graphics, gameplay, extreme detail, handling/physics.  Oh well, guess I'll be left dreaming while everyone is worshipping Mario or something

Whatever it turns out to be, I'll bet I'll still be glad I bought it .  If it's just pure action, then what's wrong with that?  As long as it's good "action," I won't be complaining.  I mean, it's got a good concept, so what if it's all about "shootin' 'em up"?  Opening up on your MP5, emptying a clip, all while dogding bullets; when thats over, go throw out some crazy punches and kicks.  All I'm saying is, it's a great concept, if the game is well produced and has very-few to no bugs, I think it'll turn out great. . . whether it's a mind-boggling action game or 100% shoot 'em up James Bond style.

Though I might have a hard time deciding between this or Hitman 2.  So many games and such a small allowance

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Only one of its Kind?????
« on: May 07, 2003, 11:01:32 AM »
Well Street Vol 2 is nowhere near being anything relatively close to a sim; and thats what he wants, I think.  I've got Vol. 2 and its great, but I still play Courtside 2002 every once in awhile.  If you don't have this, consider picking it up.  The rosters, graphics, and a few other things are a little out of date, but once you get past that, its a great game (though it's not exactly a sim, either).

if the game is going to be long (no 007 AUF or nightfire crap) and has a multiplayer mode, im buying it without a doubt.  so far, the matrix website is saying 25-30 hrs of gameplay; however, ive heard nothing of multiplayer.  im pretty content with any decent game and this looks pretty promising.  and plus, i have $23 credit at gamestop that i need to use .  if its possible that i can rent it first, i believe i will; but i have yet to make a final decision.
