General Chat / Building a white box (or media box)
« on: August 20, 2003, 09:34:55 AM »
I was listening to a radio program and these guys were talking about how they made "white boxes".  From what I understand, it's basically a PC that you can connect to your tv and record shows and the like (basically just like Tivo).  I did a search and found some companies (like Dell) make these white boxes.  I am interested in making my own.

Does anyone know of a website that has instructions on how to put one together?  While I'm computer literate, I'm not too good as far what needs to be hooked up where in order for it to work.

Any help is appreciated.

NWR Feedback / RE: Viewtiful Joe Music Video

I had no idea that this was a spoiler.  IGN said nothing except there was a video.  I am not amused!!!!  I am so looking foward to this game and now a little bit of it has been taken away from me.  Thank you Dan and Rick for looking out for the people who really want to enjoy this game 100%.  As usual, you guys rock!

NWR Feedback / Viewtiful Joe Music Video

Has anyone seen the Viewtiful Joe Music Video at IGN insider?  The video is great!  I was wondering how PGC could get this video at this site for everyone to see.  It is way too awesome to just be hidden in Insider at IGN.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Gamecube shows up in Fox Trot.

Here's another comic strip that talks about GameCube.  I don't know if he's as into the Cube as Bill Amend, but it was pretty cool to see it none the less.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: SpaceWorld
« on: May 19, 2003, 09:06:39 AM »
I for one don't believe that there will be a Spaceworld.  I hope I am wrong though since I was not too impressed with Nintendo's showing at E3.  The third party titles for Nintendo looks great (i.e., Resident Evil 4, Killer 7, Prince of Persia, etc.), but Nintendo's own offerings were mediocre at best.

People keep responding that they heard that there was going to be a Spaceworld, but I have yet to see any kind of press release.  Rick, if you're out there, please let us know if there will be a Spaceworld this year and put an end to the speculation.  Until I see a official press release or word from a reliable source, consider Spaceworld 2K3 a no go.

Here's hoping Nintendo has an ace up their sleeve and will show their hand at Spaceworld 2K3.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Newbie questions
« on: February 19, 2003, 07:35:16 AM »
Here's my $.02.  Everyone here seems to think that Rick does nothing but ban people the first time they do something wrong.  It is not like that at all.  He gives people plenty of chances before putting a ban on people.  And he doesn't close threads just because he likes to close threads.  He will usually give an explanation on why he closes them (unless it is totally obvious why it is being locked).

I, for one, like the tough rules that are in this forum.  It keeps a lot of the crap out of here.  If you want to post a bunch of garbage, go somewhere else.  Have you ever seen the forum at ign?  Yikes, talk about a nightmare.

So I would say to theaveng, don't take it personally.  Just e-mail Rick and see what was wrong.  It's not that difficult.  PlanetGameCube has, by far, the best forums of any gaming site.  Period.  Just follow the rules and you will be very happy here.

General Chat / The Ultimate Good Games List!
« on: February 14, 2003, 04:54:45 AM »
Alright, since I'm an old guy, I'm gonna go old school:

Game: Space Invaders
System: Arcade
Date: 1977

This is the game that really started the arcade revolution.  I think what made it so great was the easy control.  Three buttons, one to move the ship left, one to move the ship right, and one to fire.  There also was the sound.  Bum, bum, bum, bum...  Bum, bum, bum, bum... going slightly faster and faster as you destroyed more aliens.  I shutter to think how many quarters I pumped into that game, and the countless hours I spent in those dark, smelly, hot arcades.  Ahhh, memories.  Good times, good times...

TalkBack / Announcing the ALL NEW Planet GameCube Forums!
« on: February 07, 2003, 10:56:43 AM »
To Rick and all the staff that helped bring this new forum to us:

I would just like to say thanks for all the work that everyone does.  I truly appreciate all the hard work you guys do to bring us this fine forum.  I don't contribute to the forums too often, but I am interested in what other people have to say about Nintendo.  Thank you for keeping this forum so well run and easy to read.  And also thank you that you guys do it not for money or glory (obviously, since you guys don't get paid), but for the love of Nintendo.

Give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well done.

Bryan
