Nintendo Gaming / Harvest Moon - ?
« on: April 18, 2003, 08:01:27 PM »
I can't remember where I saw this, but I seem to recall reading that Harvest Moon will hit late-Summer, early-Fall.  My guess would be that Natsume has been rather quiet since they weren't sure when it would be ready.  I bet we'll see more information at E3 (I really do hate that phrase but it's basically the only thing to say about any game these days).

Nintendo Gaming / Slightly off-topic, but...
« on: April 18, 2003, 12:43:27 PM »
I think you'll see a core group of people here and at IGN (their boards get insane with activity) posting as much as they possibly can.  Also, be prepared for sites to crash.  I would find several different sites that you really like and bookmark them now so you have an "E3 Group" of sites to visit.  Ironically, I'll be going to the press conferences, but not E3 itself (stupid school projects).

My personal E3 favorites are IGN and PGC... Gaming Age forums might be a good place to visit too.  PGC typically does some of the best stuff though imho.  For a general view of all gaming news you might try Shacknews.  They have a nightly feature that does a great job of that now and I suspect their actual E3 coverage will be pretty good as well.  The Penny-Arcade guys can be pretty entertaining too.

Nintendo Gaming / True crime: Walken

Since when does being 5-10 hours make a game cheap?  Metal Gear Solid was only ~ 10 hours long and is better than 95% of the games out there. Since when does length categorically make a game good or bad?

Nintendo Gaming / Will the big N merge (OR BUY)?
« on: April 18, 2003, 12:27:05 PM »
I don't think you'll see any Big N mergers or buyouts anytime soon.  Nintendo has no need to acquire anyone else, they are doing just fine right now.  I won't say they'll "never" do that because I would have said Square will never merge with Enix a few years ago.  Anything is possible, but a Nintendo merger is very, very unlikely for the foreseeable future.

TalkBack / Billy Berghammer Retires From Planet GameCube.com

Well I'll definitely say it's the end of an era.

I've been reading regularly since the PlanetN2000 days and I must say I have enjoyed all of it.  It's strange though because even though he is technically "gone", he really isn't.  Billy created PGC and therefore he'll always be here in spirit, and I think the spirit of PGC will always reflect that.  Anyway, here's to you Billy, you have created the best fansite I have ever seen or had the privilege to read.  In some ways I'm even more excited because now we'll have twice the Billeh - GI and PGC! Good luck to you sir, I believe I will be subscribing to GI and, of course, still reading PGC everyday.

Nintendo Gaming / Namco and Sega merger OFFICIAL!!!
« on: April 18, 2003, 12:07:53 PM »
Yeah, the rumors are true, but the merger can't possibly happen until tons of hurdles are crossed including a vote by both companies' shareholders.  You remember all the SquareEnix stuff last year, same stuff would apply here.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the long run.  I'm not as surprised as I was about SquareEnix though.  I guess Enix needed the support, but I never thought Square was really financially weak (though they really shot themselves in the foot with that movie).  While Enix seemed to strike gold with just DQ, Square tended to create many, many excellent titles that sold very well.

General Chat / Family Guy DVD

Well, I bought it Tuesday.  It's quite good I think. There aren't a whole lot of extra features, but there are 28 episodes which is pretty insane.  I'm still slowly watching all of them and I'd say my favorites tend to come from the first and third discs so far.  I still have a ton of episodes to go though.  If you like the show, this is pretty much a no-brainer.  Stewie and Brian are a riot (hence my favorite episode thus far being "Road to Rhode Island").
