Nintendo Gaming / RE:GOTY Contenders DISCUSSION

Yes it is Battlefield 1942. GOTY? Hmm let's see. MKDD( no it is not Mortal Kombat   ),Zelda and Viewtiful Joe are my picks for top contenders this year. MKDD may play like the old N 64 like some say, but I think it doesnt that much, the characters u choose plus the kart affect ur stamina on the races, plus you need strategy, which one for running fast  and which one is better in turning and trowing stuff. The game looks great, plays great and it is a blast in multiplayer mode.

Zelda...Well you all know why Zelda owns. Some people may still whine and bitch abou it, but I sure know some that shut the hell up after they gave it a try. The graphics,sound,control and gameplay where all excellent done for this game. I think the sailing was good, it was something completly different for an industry that relies heavy on same old same old ideas.It also answered some questions about Hyrule and the story itself, and open lots of more of course.

Viewtiful Joe.. a completly different game with another style that was good for us to see that new ideas can still be made in this industry. Capcom like the big N took a risk and made this game and we all capcom fans thank them for it.

Of course there are more contenders out there and probably more opinions out there that are valid.I love videogames but I dont have the money nor the time to buy and play em all.(Althought I wish I could but that would have been ina perfect world.) What I did was look for original ideas, yeah you may think MKDD idea isnt that good, but I do. I think Zelda should receive a GOTY award but we all know that the game that will win it will be a FPS, or a really reallly hyped one that doesn't make the cut when you actually finish it.

Online isnt profitable, thats true  but at least i am willing to pay a monthly fee for playing those games online. I have FF11 on my pc and this week I am getting a credit card so I can start playing it. I know not everyone can pay a monthly fee because they don not have a job or don't like the idea. But since Sony and M$ have online strategies, why doesn't Nintendo try to have one too? I mean comon, online could be profitable in my view but at least give it a try, and by giving it a try it doesn't mean only 1 game online you know. Warpipe is a great idea for us that wanna play online( thougth I don't have a high speed connection but hopefully soon).

Well the Big N isn't talking about it, but what about the gaming community? Has anyone tried it out yet? I think this is good for us gamers, it is sending a message, we wanna play online and we wanna play now. Doesn't matter how much $$$ costs we are still gonna play even if you dont make a profit from it. Maybe Nintendo will learn from this or maybe not. Keep the LAN enable games coming cause people surely will like to play online

Nice review, though I don't agree on the graphics rating cause I think the game looks beautifull, try looking at MK64 and then look at this game ( i did) and you can see how different this game looks than its predecessor. The bomb explotions,the power slide, the shine are examples of little details that look good to me.Regading your other scores they are fine I agree with most of them ( sound could be a bit higher) and this game totally kick ass. Thank god u didnt gave it a 7.9 as some other sites has done because they think the game isn't that great and has been turned more kiddy friendly, I don't know what they are smoking but this game is HARD in 150cc mode. Don't tell me you find Rainbow Road really easy the  first time you try it, cause it's sure the hardest rainbow road that i've ever race ( in 150cc i mean, still don't have the mirror mode). Anyway people buy the game it is that really good plus it's a blast with a lot of friends in ur house or whatever house u are.

No I didnt bought a game from them in fact I don't think I will till they lower the prices again, but yet thats their problem losing another costumer, im gonna check Eb tomorrow to see if they have the GCP cheaper cause I really want it but not so much that i'll pay the extra money for it.

I know the gameboyplayer is an awesome addition to  Nintendo's hardware lineup BUT I think my local Gamestop store is abusive on this little machine. When I got to the store I notice most of the new GBA games were in the 40 bucks rage wich I thought it was rare since a month ago I went to the same store and  most of them where in the 30 bucks range. When I go to pick up my new GBA player they told me it wasn't 45.99 that I had to pay,(because i pre order it a while a go) no no no it was 55.99 that I had to pay, so that means i had to pay 99.99 bucks for the gba player plus a gba game? WTF? this is abusive I tell you abusive I was so mad that they change the price range because they wanted more $$$$ I think this is too much, 40 bucks for a gba game is too much in my mind when we all know that the gba games are always in the 30 range, i may be bitching about the 10 or 20 bucks that i have to pay more, but think about it, if i pay 20 more bucks, so will you and other 1000 people meaning they are making more money. I think this is too abusive and a slap in the face to the gamer comunity, so screw you gamestop.

Finally the big N after 2 console launch realizes that to be first they had to do things right from the start. We all know that trying to bring the console early might not be a good thing ( DC anyone?) or it might be  a good thing (ps2...well kinda). So I welcome this news with great hope that the big N will learn from their mistakes and put a great console out. Big 3rd party support, triple A first party titles and heavy marketing that should start as early as e3 2k4 ( or even earlier) will create a lot of hype and good.Also more RPGS please.

One of my friends had a problem with its GC, he called nintendo and that same day a ups guy came for it. He waited for a couple of weeks and it returned and to this day it still works fine. So i suggest that you call nintendo because they are very profesional about this.

Can't agree with you more. Nintendo always makes great games with great mascots. Mario is the ICON there's no doubt about that, but to keep being innovative Nintendo forms new stories , new ideas that might not work on Mario, Zelda or others...well what do you do? Creat some new mascots of course. I mean can you see mario collect all this pocket monsters because he wants to be the best trainer in the world?? Dont think so right. While an rpg might work with mario ( super mario rpg anyone?) maybe other ideas can't or may not feel good putting them in the older mascots.

Ummm I think your talking about Kingdom Hearts, and that was a good game. I think Nintendo will do an adult link game...BUT not in the GC life cycle. If they want to start with a bang for the next gen systems wars , why not start with an adult link in a zelda game. Think about it , it makes sense...makes us wait for a couple of more years for this "dark link" game, announce it as a game for their next gen game...( with a killer line up too) make haters love u again and make more blin blin...$$$$ its all about profits people its all about the bejamins.

It looks slick, it has a lot of features BUT how much is this little tin box gonna cost? How about ps2 gamers how will they feel when they see this? And yes i agree this is a little too late in the ps2 life cycle, but sony computer is not the one thats managing its Sony's Home Electronics Division.

This is good news for all cause now people get 2 good systems for the price of one. There some people that might like the GBA but dont want to buy the system or they want to play their favorite GBA games in a bigger screen. I am surprise about this and  since I already own a GC I wont be buying another one (duh) but at least this can secure more GC sales in the U.S., now all Nintendo has to do is promote this like hell and they will sell a lot of cubes.

Yeah but remember how many people of those pre order but don't get the game . Just what happend to Zelda:WW pre orders where like 900,000 but it didn't sold all of them.

Well so far i've been happy with most of the numbers. Tony Hawk 2 at 20 is very good, GTA 3, MGS also have good numbers. One that I'm impress with its number is Mike Tyson's Punch Out! and not because I think the game is lame or something like that, but I'm impress that by giving this game the number 22 in the top 100 is a very respectable thing to do. I have fond memories of this game when I remember going to a friend's house to watch him fight Macho Man, King Hippo and others ( I didn't had a NES at that time I had a Sega Master System!!! ).Now if Nintendo makes a new Punch Out game for the GC I'll be in h eaven. Metroid Prime in the number 23 spot deserv that number too.Chrono Trigger better than Mario Kart? hmmmm I don't think so. I would have switch those slots. From what I heard Castlevania SOTN is the best castlevania ever made so I guess that number is right too. The only thing that bothers me is... where is MK and Street Fighter 2, lets hope its in the top 10 cause i've not seeing them in the list. If someone has correct me if i'm wrong. A sure bet is that we will see a Zelda, Mario,FF game in the top 10, im not so sure if we'll wee a DK Country in the top 10 but here's to guessing.

The controls are no problem they are the same as Vol.1 so if you mastered them you'll have no problem. Personally I like this game better than the first one BUT  I missed Joe The Show, still this other guy is pretty cool. There's also a lot of stuff to unlock and modes to play and I consider this game is worth $50. The Level 2 Game Breaker is a nice addition and the newest moves are very sweet , and I still haven't play it with my homies and I know it'll be a blast. So if you got the money and loved the first one don't think it twice go buy this game.  Ice cream Ice cream everybody loves  ice cream!!!

I know this E3 is suppose to be the yeat of new franchises, but think about it: Wario World is not a new franchise because Wario has always been on the GB games, Mario golf is not a new franchise neither Mario Kart nor Metroid Prime 2 right?. So I STILL think we can see some footage of Kid Icarus even if it's in early stage. It's been what 14 years or so since we saw Kid Icarus? What about Pitfall Harry he's back u know (i know he's not from the big N but still) Besides we got a little hint on that SSBM Trophie didn't we? As usual we'll just have to  and see.

I'm planning on getting Skies of Arcadia , but I  don't know about PSO, is this game any good? Skies I'll get it but the main priority is The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, reasons? Well I guess you can make them on your own. Also I'm planning to get NBA street 2, I had a blast with the fisrt edition and I have seen the new stuff the new version will have and I'll buy it when I can. This game rules solo or with a friend. Vs a friend is a blast cause if your friends doesn't suck the game gets better and better after each basket is made, so if you haven't tried this game yet , you should at least give it a rental. If it was online it would had ruled cause then I would meet all of you guys and prove to all of you who's the king of the street ball.
