Nintendo Gaming / RE:Official DS Sales Thread

Originally posted by: MarioBTW it's been confirmed that PSP outsold DS this month, again. It sold more than GBA is all we know. NPD are so freaking retarded with their numbers, treating them like it's some "exclusive club". They can rot and die, we need a better sales tracker to step up.

The next few months are more important, we'll see what the DS lite's effects on NA sales will be and as the GBA line slowly gets phased out we'll see if the sales start to shift towards the DS.

Yup the way things are going in about 10 years the DS is gonna get PWND by the PSP.

No it isn't. Mario and I are stone dead serious. Comon, 900,000 units in 4 days? If anyone, at all, honestly cared about Mario anymore these days we'd have seen 2,000,000 units sold. New Mario = New Super Flop

Nintendo milked Mario one too many times, and the Japanese have shown their not going to stand for it anymore, by making it take 5 days to reach the million mark.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The indie games are here. (Orb Screens)
« on: June 01, 2006, 11:00:09 PM »
You know, even though the screens look bad, i'm glad that quite a few indie/new devs are finding their way to the Wii as their console of choice, it indicates to me that nintendo's plans with the Wii are working.

If they charge $250 for it then they better include Wii Sports and Wii Orchestra with it since neither of those "games" since I wouldn't consider buying either by themselves. As for games I WILL buy: maybe the Wii version of Zelda, MP 3, WarioWare, and a bunch of Virtual Console games since most of the 3rd party games don't seem good(i'm looking at you Tony Hawk and your Dreamcast graphics). If it makes it out before that March period you can add Super Mario Galaxy to that.

I dunno, if they fleshed out Wii Orchestra more, I could see some promise for the game

Who am I kidding? I'll be there on launch day regardless. Damn yous, Nintendo!

I like the way you think except I think Wii sports would be more likely than the 5 downloads

The point of any game or console is to have fun, people sometimes forget that realism =/=fun.

On that note I also think that realism =/= inmersion. I can get more inmersed in a Tetris game than in call of duty any day.

You have a point

Nintendo doesn't like to sell consoles at a loss, at $250 they can give you the bundle, at 200 maybe not

like I said, the graphics will look fine, people whine too much when Nintendo does anything, but it almost always turns out fine, with Ninty you just have to go with the flow.

The E3 Demo doesn't look like that, the E3 demo is based off the older graphics.

I'm not referring to the graphics, i'm referring to the gameplay

In fact the graphics in the E3 demo are not indicative of the game graphics

"Further proof that people don't like having to learn anything. 'It's too hard! I actually have to aim!'"

Why should anyone learn anything when they can get the same game with controls they're already used to on a console they already own?

Because its more relistic to actually have to aim yourself

Probably refelcts how many they think they can manufacture in time.

It's very interesting that Zelda is on top.  In North America the Wii version of Zelda seems to be one of the least popular Wii games at E3.

The issues with Zelda seem to be a result of the learning curve associated with the game, and the fact that the conditions at E3 doesn't give most people a chance to master the controls, after listening to a few dozen E3 podcasts it sounds like the impressions of people who seemed to get the hang of the controls fast are seemingly more positive than those who had trouble with them.

Depends on sales and the competition, if sales are high and the competition keeps their prices high, then no price drops, if sales start to taper off orthe competion has price drops then maybe.

Or it could be just the opinions of one person after trying a 10 minute demo at E3.

True, even if the only good games are Metroid, Mario and Zelda its more than worth the purchase.
