>Crave Entertainment, a leading publisher of console videogames,

Who?

Seriously, there's been like four games or so from this company?  I'm amused by how they put this on every press release...

Of course, I wouldn't be so hard on Crave if they hadn't completly ignored the GCN when they originally released their Intellivision collection awhile ago...  Yeah, they've released it since, but I'm still ticked they ignored me in the first place...  (I still need to pick this one up sometime...)

Nintendo Gaming / RE: minish cap - kinstones

It would only be legal for you to play the game via emulation if you created the ROM you used to play from your own, legally obtained original cart.

Technically it would be 100% illegal for you to use the captured screen shots for your own program, but depending upon the program and how it's used, Nintendo would typically look the other direction.

I'm watching 24 right now, so I can't really read through all of this, but the first thing that caught my attention...

>Game Boy Advance is obsolete.

Wha?  Anyone have GBA sales figures for the last few months?

You do know that the GBA/GC link cable does not allow you to play Game Boy Advance games on the GameCube, right?  I remember when I worked retail, there were quite a few parents that had that misconception...

Nintendo Gaming / Wario Ware Extreme Micro-game Madness
« on: January 09, 2005, 04:42:08 AM »
While this would be a very cost-prohibited game for many people, what would you think of a Wario Ware game that worked with:

The GCN Controller plugged into Port 1
A GBA plugged into Port 2
The MadCatz/DDR Dancemat pluged into Port 3
The Donkey Konga Bongos pluged into Port 4
The Mario Party 6 Mic plugged into the Second Memory Card Port

Maybe you could set the game to exclude whichever mini-games you don't have the equiptment to play...

Too fun or too much?

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo and Konami Announce DDR with Mario
« on: January 07, 2005, 05:22:48 PM »
>Let's look at how many games Mario has appeared in, in this generation...

Now, let's compare that list to the SNES generation (generally considered Nintendo's prime)...  SMW, SMW2, Yoshi's Sarfari, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Kart, Mario Paint, Dr. Mario/Tetris, Super Mario RPG, Mario's Time Machine, Mario is Missing, the three Mario's Early Years' titles.. Anything else I'm missing?

Anywhoo, anyone who is excited about this needs to be thanking Mad Catz...  Perhaps their unexpected move into the game-market gave Konami a bit of a scare....  I wonder if their dance mat will work with this version of DDR...  Might give me an excuse to pick up the Mad Catz game, since I'll need a second mat...

Nintendo Gaming / GBAO11 Cases
« on: December 29, 2004, 03:51:56 PM »
I went in EBGames the other day and found some pretty spiffy cases for GBA games.

They're made by A.L.S. Industries - one of the few companies that bother to get their products lisenced by Nintendo.

The cases are great quality - their general design looks greatly based on the design of the old cases that game with original GameBoy games back in the day. A nice, hard plastic case that folds open on the left side (instead of the top) and has a tab that you push in to open the case (instead of something that snaps down (and off after a lot of use). Each case snugly holds three GBA games (or loosly holds up to six DS games - or a combination of the two) stacked vertically. Unfortunatly, the design of the case prevents you from holding older GameBoy/GameBoy Color games.

The pack I purchased had three cases in it - each featured a very, very light blue tint to them. The package was a simple blister pack and priced at $5 - a pretty good deal.

Anywhoo, just in case anyone is interested...

And on a side note, thanks to Nintendo and these neat cases, you can hold Zelda 1, Zelda II and Zelda III all in one tight little package.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Games with kickin' Surround Sound?
« on: December 27, 2004, 07:32:23 PM »
Hey!  Thanks for the lists and advice guys!
I haven't had much chance to play with my new setup gaming-wise (between movies - still gotta watch T2 - and Simpsons Season 5 - there's just so little time).  Soul Caliber II sounds *awesome* in surround sound.  I need one of those new fangled TVs with that glowing ambient light stuff (heh, yeah, right...) - SCII would really be quite cool then...

Anywhoo, Strangly enough, my Super Monkey Ball box totes a "Dolby Surround" logo on the back... Although, as you said, the SMB2 box does not.  Weird...

14163
I still want a Zero Mission-type remake of Zelda 1...

14164
I *wish* something like this would happen, if only for Pac-Man vs. (one of the best multi-player games ever)...

Nintendo Gaming / Games with kickin' Surround Sound?
« on: December 26, 2004, 07:35:20 AM »
Well, my Father-in-law (who is really cool) got us a Surround Sound system for Christmas.  It's nothing major, but it is nice.

Well, while looking through my GameCube games, I noticed that very few of them feature surround sound...  So - what games should I look for?  Anything in particular?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Next batch??
« on: December 17, 2004, 10:05:19 AM »
The only problem I have with the "gap" is that it is the holiday season.  If I were younger, I'd be upset if I had this brand new system and there wern't really any games to tell everyone I wanted for Christmas.

Of course, now I buy my own games, so... 'eh...

I think he's reffering to that it doesn't work with the non-SP version of the GBA...

The question is... (and I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet...)

What are the odds of the DS using an SD card for saving data for online games...  (like a hard drive)...?

Just a thought...

No.  The difference is that Sony never WAS making Zelda games, and has and never WILL be able to make Zelda games, so nothing is being revoked.  The customer isn't getting shortchanged because there wasn't competition in the first place.  In the case of the EA/NFL, any real possibility of fair competition is being removed.

Well, we could use the same example but throw in Disney lisences and any of the various companies who made Disney games over the years... or *may* other lisenced titles.

Yes.  That's like saying because Nintendo gave Capcom exclusive rights to make Zelda games, they're giving Capcom a monopoly and Sony should be allowed to make Zelda games as well.

See, I'm absolutely baffled as to why Nintendo released Mario 64 as their DS Flagship title as opposed to Wario Ware Touched!.

I kinda feel that Mario 64 was the launch title for two reasons:

First, when the previous system lauched with a *great* title that wasn't a "Mario" title, everyone threw fits (Luigi's Mansion)...

Second, Mario 64 is a very indepth game - rich and full in game play.
Wario Ware, while one of my favorite games (I've got both the GBA and GCN versions, and I'm highly anticipating the two upcoming titles) is pretty... I don't know.  But it's not really a Mario 64 type-game...  I'm not sure how to phrase this...

You know, my NES, SNES, N64, GameCube and Virtual Boy controllers all work just fine and dandy...  And I've bought plenty of used controllers with no problems...
