Nintendo Gaming / Revolution Controller + "Action Pad"
« on: November 13, 2005, 01:31:08 PM »
I got mario ddr "action pad" the other day (I won it actually) and it hit me that it wasn't called a dance pad.  Then it got me to thinking.
There must be some cool way to combine a revolution controller with an "action pad" so that its not just your hands/arms contributing to on screen action but your feet as well. You could actually "walk" up to things and then use the controller as if it was a sword or something like that.

Am I totally insane or just partially crazy?

Anyone have any good ideas?

Nintendo Gaming / Friend Codes
« on: November 11, 2005, 08:52:33 AM »
This post is here to create a way for Mario Kart DS (and other wi-fi DS games) to add eachother to a friends list.

Therefore:
IF you wish to have people from Planetgamecube forums (and possibly other people?) add you to their friends list hit reply and put in your friend code below.

Remember: The DS only supports 30 some odd friends and it replaces friends at random after that amount has been reached.

For those who plan on buying animal crossing, remember that if a person is your friend, they can enter your town.  Fair warning.

P.S. I realize that the game has not yet been released but some lucky people (read: TYP) already have it.  I'll have my friend code posted on monday and then I will thrash you all!

Nintendo Gaming / Where Do Babies Come From?
« on: July 27, 2005, 05:50:06 AM »
No, I'm not seriously asking that question.  However, our infamous friend, SPoNG is reporting that "Where Do Babies Come From" is the title of the sequel to "Feel The Magic".  If this is truly the case, then Feel the Magic is continuing to produce new and bizarre things, just as it should.

Impressions of the name? Feelings about the first game?  Ideas for crazy mini-games?
Post them here!

Nintendo Gaming / Blizzard to develop for DS?
« on: July 16, 2005, 02:42:16 PM »
Right now, Blizzard is polling its fans to try to find out if they would be supportive of Diablo 2 on DS/PSP as well as Starcraft on DS (no PSP for this one!).  I, for one, have put 100's of hours into each of these games, and if they appeared on DS using WiFi...it would/could be incredibly detrimental to, well, everything else in my life.

General Gaming / PS3 Estimated at $400
« on: June 29, 2005, 05:00:40 AM »
Hey, I just read an article that said Merril Lynch released its estimates for how much PS3 would cost, as well as how much Xbox360 would cost.

They said that PS3 would retail for about 400 dollars, and the system itself would cost approx 500 dollars to make.  It notes that the disc drive, the processor and graphics card each costing over 100 dollars to make.

Est. price for the 360 is $299.

All i gotta say about the price for PS3 is...ouch.

General Chat / My E3 Impressions
« on: May 19, 2005, 05:27:48 PM »
Hey all, just thought that I'd let you all know what I thought of this years E3 as well as give you access to some pics (and video if someone wants to host it) that you might not get elsewhere.  Literally, I have pics of a monitor with signs around it saying "Do not take pictures or video" as well as video from a movie about XBox 360 where pictures were allowed, but movies were not.  Basically I lied my ass off when I was questioned about it.

Basically, I equate E3 to a giant Casino with a bunch of mini-casinos inside it.  It is larger than life, window free in the main halls, no clocks, and everyone is vying for your attention.  The difference is free stuff, there is a LOT of free stuff to be had at E3 (I hear that its referred to as "swag").  Whatever.  I've picked up about 5 shirts, a poster and a hat that are exclusive to E3 signed by Falcoon (lead artist for SNK), a cloth bag from Infinity Games, a Nintendo Power pin from Nintendo, a Mario Kart DS Stylus, a hardback book with funny pictures from last years E3, countless magazines that you would normally need to pay for, my friends got the guys from Penny-Arcade to sign stuff but I didn't feel like staying in line for that.  I saw Gary Coleman (no evidence), Morgan Webb (of G4TechTV I got 2 shots of her back/ass as she was being escorted quite quickly to the Sony booth, and met Gallagher and he posed for a pic for me.  Countless booth babes, countless people dressed up as stuff and there were about 5,000+ monitors and televisions, all HD of course.

DS Downloadable demos played:
Meteos
Submarine Demo
Zelda Gallery
Table Hockey

Countless other games for DS, Gamecube, PS2, PSP, PC, Xbox 360

I haven't added anything from Day 2 yet, including the "restricted" stuff, but I will shortly.

Again, if anyone wants to host the video, or high def pictures, just reply here and we'll figure something out.  I have a half gig from day 1 and 157mb from Day 2 (I haven't gotten rid of the blurry ones or edited the video at all, some of which is downright ugly).

P.s. any questions, please post them here, also due to the fact I'm staying with someone from CalTech who has an incredible amount of work he has to do, we're not sure if we're going back for the 3rd and final day, but if we are and anyone really likes a game and wants more pics/vid/impressions of it, let me know.

General Gaming / Xbox 360 vs. PS3 vs. Revolution
« on: May 16, 2005, 05:36:55 PM »
Hey, I was reading over the specs for the 360 and the PS3 and I think I bout got a headache.  Can someone translate to me how much stronger numbers-wise one console will be over the other?  I know this "cell processor" that PS3 uses is supposed to be god translated into silicon, but I didn't see a whole lot of differences (read: any) between 360 and PS3 game pics.  Also, I know figures and specs for the Revolution haven't come out yet, but that could be resolved as early as oh, 11 or so hours from now when Nintendo holds their conference.  If they release specs I'd love to get impressions of its strengths and weaknesses vs. its competitors.

To whoever is attending, see you at E3!

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid: Hunters Online?
« on: April 04, 2005, 07:40:21 AM »
SPOnG reported today that they "confirmed" that Metroid: Hunters will be fully online and will have a similar setup or similar functions to that of Halo 2.  However, I have yet to see any other site report on this.  It would be great news if indeed true.  Opinions/Facts?

Nintendo Gaming / Re-calibrating the touch screen
« on: August 01, 2004, 07:57:01 PM »
The one thing that I'm a bit worried about is that no one has commented on calibrating the touch screen.  For those of you who have never had a palm pilot or any other similar device, the touch screen tends to lose calibration.  In simple terms, after a while, when you touch some place with the stylus, it thinks you are actually touching the screen an inch lower, or to the right or basically somewhere where you are NOT touching.  In palm's there is some software that comes with them that allows the user to touch different areas of the screen when prompted to do so and it re-calibrates the touch screen.  HOWEVER, in some cases, the calibration gets so bad that you cannot even get to the menu to tell it to run the re-calibration program and you have to hard-restart the palm (which is BAD).  I hope Nintendo addresses both re-calibrating AND hard-restarting (which would not be so bad on the DS because there's no built in software to lose...or is there?)

Nintendo Gaming / What does this button do...?
« on: July 28, 2004, 04:53:33 AM »
Hey all, I was just checkin out the new DS pics, looks sweet IMO, but then I noticed something a bit odd.  On the right you have standard ABXY Start/Select buttons, but on the left above the D-Pad there's another button.  Whats that button do?  It may have been covered earlier/elsewhere but I couldn't find it.

Can someone let me know?
