Given how Monster Hunter Tri is plagued with issues and archaic design choices, I don't want to even imagine how terrible the first game in the series was. They'd have to offer a major improvement on the game for me to have interest in a sequel, and given the incremental changes throughout the series, I highly doubt that will happen.

Maybe their open connection with Nintendo about the game will pave the way for Nintendo to advise them or even lend a team to assist in sequel development. I get excited thinking about what Retro could do just graphically with the series.

Nintendo only assisted with marketing in North America, I don't think that minimal involvement will lead to any kind of development partnership. Especially considering the game was originally going to be for the PS3, and will likely get ported to the PSP and PS2 (I'm surprised it hasn't already). Capcom doesn't want the series to be tied into a Nintendo system exclusively.

Capcom doesn't want the series to be tied into a Nintendo system exclusively.

This and the Japanese only Wii port of Monster Hunter G are the first times a Nintendo system has the series. Monster Hunter Tri is also easily beating the PS2 ones in sales numbers, so Capcom could very easily stick with Nintendo consoles for series. I also don't see a PS2 version happening as the system is pretty much dead in Japan (even the best selling game only sold 299K copies in 2009).

I'm just thinking that since there is a dialogue in place about the game it could evolve into something more.

They could decide to make a Nintendo dedicated MH series and other series for other systems. I'd even be happy to just get ports of future games. There is now a fanbase for the games. I used to be mad that we didn't get MH-G here but now I'm understanding as to why.

They have a pretty sweet engine on Wii now. Don't see why they couldn't use it.

No. Someone else did. Multiple times. And they took twice as long to do it as it should have taken.

I had even good workers not following my instructions fully and it really caused a lot of grief. I gave out way too many free pizzas for stupid mistakes today.

FYI, they have announced a Monster Hunter Portable 3.  Supposedly it is not a port of Tri.  But that could easily mean they are slightly modifying what Tri is to make it better for portable systems.  I keep hoping they'd port the game to the DS.  Maybe the 3DS will have a better shot with the better processor and everything.

Well then, it'll still sell three times as many copies as Tri in Japan at least.  Again, I'd love to see a port of the game on the DSi or 3DS if they want.

MH on DS would be pretty cool. would be interesting if there was some connectivity between Wii and DS with the game. Maybe use the DS as a mobile Hunter Book/Pokedex like thing so you didn't have to open up a main screen menu and hinder actual play while looking at it.

You could even do something where a second player could control Cha-Cha on the DS to help you out.

Especially considering the game was originally going to be for the PS3, and will likely get ported to the PSP and PS2 (I'm surprised it hasn't already).

It's probably not going to the PS2, but I believe the PSP version was announced before the western release.

If you're referring to Monster Hunter Portable 3, apparently that is a different game (as different as any version of Monster Hunter, which isn't much).

If you're referring to Monster Hunter Portable 3, apparently that is a different game (as different as any version of Monster Hunter, which isn't much).

Is it?  Weird.  Why would they do such a thing?

ZR/ZL are practically unused in the Wii game. The only function they serve is dodging up/down when swimming. They absolutely are not necessary.
