I can just bet NMH: Heroes Paradise is just going to fall off the charts after the second week.

Though I can always be wrong.

I'm actually surprised to see the No More Heroes port sell just about the same on both 360 and PS3, given the install base of the 360 in Japan.

Well New Super Mario Bros Wii is selling steadily. 2D Mario tends to sell well in Japan whereas 3D doesn't for some reason. It is interesting that the port of the First No More Heroes sold that much. I guess we can wait till next week to see if it is still selling.

I present evidence supporting me, and you ignore it. Sales of the Wii were up significantly for 0ver 6 months after Wii Music came out. For the month the game was released, Wii sales were up 54% YOY, November was 107.9%, December was 59.2%, etc.

I am not saying Wii Music was the main reason, but the facts show that sales of the Wii were up SIGNIFICANTLY year over year when the game was released. You have not shown that the game didn't help, I showed that the system had jumped up in sales compared to the same month a year before that.

As for 3DS, what does that prove? Game Boy Advance hardware sales were almost dead in Japan by late 2004, but Nintendo launched the DS in North America first (despite GBA sales still being strong here). I could see Nintendo doing the same thing they did with the last 2 system launches and do North America first and then Japan and PAL regions within the next month.

You said WiiMusic was "maintaining" Wii sales in the HOLIDAY months yet don't show any WiiMusic sales numbers. Wii is gonna sell during the HOLIDAY months the same with or without WiiMusic just as it had the 2 HOLIDAY seasons before it and it will the 2 HOLIDAY seasons after it.

You've provided nothing that supports your argument of WiiMusic having anything to do with it.

I could say that LBP has been maintaining PS3 sales, and then provide PS3 sales numbers showing how well PS3 has been selling then in comparison to how it was selling before that, but that doesn't mean that LBP had any thing to do with it.

Please try READING my post. Did I say Wii wasn't gonna sell well in holidays? NO. I sales of Wii during holiday 2008 were more than 2007. The Wii sold 107.9% MORE in November 2008 than it did in November 2007. The Wii sold 59.2% more in December 2008 than it did in December 2007. I don't know if I can make it more simpler than that, maybe you just don't understand sales growth.

Also, it would be batshit insane to say that LittleBigPlanet HELPED the PlayStation 3. Although PS3 sales in October 2008 were up 57% compared to 2007, in November it was down 18.8%, December was down 8.97%, January down 24.4%, etc. If anything, LittleBigPlanet had no positive impact.

I have data to back up me, you have your personal opinion only. You also seem to not understand the numbers as you make odd statements.

Its job was to maintain the Wii momentum over Christmas and beyond, it didn't. The momentum collapsed and for a long time people declared the Wii dead with nothing to play. It took until Wii Sports Resort for the momentum to swing up again.

And yet Wii sales continue being high and beating the competition easily. If you are talking about sales, I can prove that you are dead wrong. If you are talking about mindshare, that can be diffiuclt to prove either way. However, Wii sales did not suffer at all (in fact, for the first six months of 2009 the Wii outsold the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 COMBINED. Wii Music was released in the US in October 2008, here were the sales for the last three months of 2008: 803,000 in October; 2,040,000 in November; 2,150,000 in December. For 2009:
679,200 in January
753,000 in February
601,000 in March
340,000 in April
289,500 in May
361,700 in June

The CLOSEST that either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 came was in May when the Xbox 360 was only 114.5K behind (at 175K).

So how do you figure that the game failed to maintain momentum for the system? Outselling the competition by more than 2:1 and selling more than 3 million systems (compared to 1.6 million for Xbox 360 and 1.1 million for PlayStation 3) in the first half of the year is pretty damn strong.

Here you are arguing that WiiMusic "maintained" momentum for the Wii.
That is like arguing that LBP boosted sales for the PS3, I know it's crazy right.

They both made no difference to the sales of the systems as neither of them were system sellers.

I showed how sales of Wii with Wii Music were significantly higher than the same period the year before.

I then showed how PlayStation 3's already low sales went DOWN after the release of LittleBigPlanet.

You are free to have your opinion, but you have yet to provide any actual evidence to back up any of your claims. I have.

No. You showed how Wii sales were up despite WiiMusic, you never showed the sales of WiiMusic during that time period, so why would we come to the conclusion that WiiMusic had any effect on Wii sales?

there is a way to prove your point and a way to dance around it. I'm guessing your ballerina shoes are starting to wear thin.

You have yet to show how WiiMusic had any effect on Wii sales. I don't know how to make it any more simpler than that.... maybe you just don't understand period.

edit:
but the truth is, I don't give a ****, so you can keep tap dancing around the actual point you were "trying" to make with someone else.

edit2: I'm not even saying that you are wrong, I'm saying that you are not providing the evidence to make your point.
(Wii sold 4 million systems Xmas2009, did WiiMusic have something to do with that?)

I was about to say you can think what you want. I am sick of arguing with you since ignore facts. I never claimed the game was the only reason for Wii jumping up in sales (you can't even get the name of the game right BTW). It's just plain moronic to imply that the game hurt the Wii or failed to help "maintain" sales considering it had a huge spike in sales after the games release.

But I'm not ignoring any facts since you didn't post any pertaining to the point you were making.... that WiiMusic or whatever it's called was the reason Wii sales were up YOY. It's the fuckin HOLIDAY season, sales are always up around that time of the year. Wii music sold better during those months than it would have another month of any other year since it was the holiday shopping season.

You are beyond hope. You don't seem to understand even the basic points I make.

Unlike North America (where none of the console manufacturs allow AO rated games, and most retailers won't carry them), the Japanese equivalent is Z and is used fairly often. Some previous Xbox 360 games that have gotten this rating include Vampire Rain, Dead Rising, Gears of War, and Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad.

Dude. you are beyond dense. I understand what you are saying. I understand the point you are trying to make. I'm trying to tell you that you aren't forming it completely. But if you think you've made your point, then I'll let it stand the way it is. I wasn't arguing your point with you (I'm not sure how many times I've said that), I'm not debating the numbers with you, I just saying that you never actually proved your point.... you focused on something else that may or may not have been related.

Jus tto put this to rest, I'll summarize what ou've done since you seem to make poor arguments in other threads too, nobody calls you on it since no one really cares.
(for the record, I don't really care either, I was just pointing it out to you, but you decided to get a little crass, so now I make it a point to help you understand... doesn't help that I was having a bad day yesterday)

You say WiiMusic "maintains" Wii Sales during the Holiday period of '08-'09
Someone else says it didn't
You post Wii hardware sales to somehow prove that WiiMusic boosted or helped Wii sales in some way (during the Xmas shopping season)
I point out that Wii hardware numbers doesn't show how WiiMusic helped "maintain" sales
you point to Wii hardware sales again.
I suggest you show some WiiMusic sales numbers to go along with your Wii HW#'s to back your claim
you continue pointing to Wii HW #'s as if that somehow proves that WiiMusic was pushing Wii HW.
rinse wash repeat and here we are.
where in there did you make a basic point? please explain to me what I am apparently missing because I am still not seeing WiiMusic numbers that show how WiiMusic was propping up Wii HW sales during the Xmas Holiday Shopping season.

tl;dr version

TJSpyke:
Point - WiiMusic helped Wii Sales during Xmas shopping season '08-'09

Proof needed - WiiMusic numbers that show it's significance during said shopping season

Proof provided - Wii Hardware numbers from Oct. 08 - whenever in '09

In other words, you have not made your point

That's the problem with pointing to "any" DUR, HERE'Z DA NPD evidence and believing it's enough to support an argument.  One has to critically think and be sure to clearly provide the relationship it has to the argument.

Edit:  If there was information showing how Wii Music sales paralleled System sales in the same time period, we could begin to concur.  But NOPE.

Edit:  If there was information showing how Wii Music sales paralleled System sales in the same time period, we could begin to concur.  But NOPE.

I'm glad someone else see the error in that argument.

How much did Wii Music sell? I've het to hear for sure if it was a commercial flop or a success. Just that it was a flop with the critics.

According to Wikipedia, which cites an official Nintendo document, Wii Music has sold 2.65 million copies as of May 2009.
Digging deeper, it seems it sold 92,000 copies in its first week in Japan, and 66,000 in North America. Not bad, but low for a Nintendo release.

This game was never going to sell as many copies as the other Wii series because it doesn't have the same wide appeal.
