With all of the rail shooters out there, why has the craze not resulted in the creation of another Pokémon Snap type of game?

Holy smokes! How could I forget! I've enjoyed Pokemon Snap so much more than any other console Pokemon that has ever come out. We need to make a thread about it here. Make a big deal about it. Have our members make threads about it on other lesser boards just to generate phony interest. Then maybe some goon will ask Miyamoto or Iwata about it during E3 just to plant it into their minds. Now thats an elaborate and college educated scheme!

The DS has surpassed the GB LTD and
The Wii has surpassed the NES LTD.

So to sum up the Nintendo Financial Report,
Nintendo has released 3 games(WSR, WF+, NSMBW) that have sold more than 10 million units in 6 months(July - Dec.) or less and the NES(61.88M) has been outsold by the Wii(67.45M) in the same quarter(Q3 2009) that the GB/GBC(118.69M) has been outsold by the DS(125.13M).

This also means that Wii is currently the fastest selling console ever just barely beating out the DS after 13 quarters:
WII - 67.45 million
NDS - 64.79 million (@ 13 Quarters)

I wonder how Nintendo is gonna top this? No where to go but down from here.

I was thinking the same thing. Like Reggie said even befor the Wii was released, something like "Nintendo was the top, and when you get to the top, no where to go but down."

But you know what, they very well could surprise the heck out of us when everyone else has motion control and super awesome graphics.

Beating the Gameboy (especially if the GBC is counted together with it) is an extremely amazing feat when you consider the very long life and near total monopoly that system had on the handheld market. Most consoles last 5 years, right? Well, the Gameboy came out in like 1987 or something like that and lasted until about 2001 or so.

Game Boy came out in August 1989, Game Boy Color (which Nintendo bundles with Game Boy for sales numbers) came out in November 1998. GBC games were still coming out as late as 2003 (Game Boy Advance came out in March 2001 in Japan and June 2001 in North America).

The DS was already the second best selling system ever, but it was hard to say for sure due to Nintendo combing GB/GBC. The only system left to beat is the PlayStation 2 at 138 million. The Wii is now the 3rd best selling console, only behind the PlayStation and PS2.
