Wow, Wii fit pluss is way up there and the Wii sales are way down. Are people waiting for the price cut or did it happen yet?

It happened a few days ago, but I think only 1-2 days of it were reflected in the HW #'s for last week.

Nintendo is not going to like where their system is.  Of course, with the abosolutly kick arse lineup starting now through holiday 2010.  well, I guess there isnt much too worry about huh?

Those Wii hardware sales are from last week, the Wii's price drop in Japan didn't happen until October 1st which was yesterday.  So the effect of the Wii's price drop will not be seen until this weeks data is released next week.

You heard wrong, the price cut in Japan went into effect October 1 (at least according to Nintendo's announcement). This means the price cut will not be reflected until nest week.

It is quite possible that there's a shortage. I doubt that's the case, but it could be. Still, if you add the full month's sales, Sony destroyed Nintendo.

"Destroyed"? PS3 barely beat Wii in September, and it was only because of the price drop. PS3 sales are already dropping fast again and the Wii price cut already had a big boost (the price cut was only in effect for 4 days in that last time period, otherwise it would have been even higher). Besides, as others have said the Wii is still crushing the PS3 in LTD sales there. I don't think Nintendo is worried that the PS3 outsold the Wii in Septmeber in Japan, Nintendo is still winning 33 months to 1.

Well a 250k unit difference between Wii & PS3 sales in the month of Sept. is probably something Nintendo cared about.

I never said Nintendo cares, or I care, or anyone cares. I'm just saying PS3 *DESTROYED* Wii's sales in Japan in September. I wouldn't call 347k to 94k "barely" beating Wii.

it was the kind of beating that the PS3 usually takes in the US. Down by 1/4 of a million units.
Nintendo had to drop the price just to save face.

Nintendo's problem is, and has always been, the lack of quality 3rd party games. Nintendo can lower the price of the Wii, but it won't help all that much because they are already the cheapest. They absolutely need the 3rd party support...

GTA, Street Fighter, RE5, etc. These games are absent from the Wii library, and until that changes Nintendo won't be able to win.

Win what, exactly?

If those titles were present on Wii earlier, what would they do?  Sell the systems that were already missing from store shelves at sold-out stores?  Really?  This is losing?

Yeah because GTA and the RE games just sell so amazingly well in Japan. I mean they really helped PS3 stay on top in Japan for so long right? Seriously this post seems like trolling, it makes no sense. Wii is still beating the competition and LTD is pretty much out of reach for the other consoles, but they are losing? Rrright.
