Super Smash Bros. for 3DS takes the top spot with 944k. Famitsu (available in the NeoGAF thread) tracks the game at 987k. Comparing these numbers to Nintendo's press release of the game selling 1 million indicates at least 17-56k eShop copies were sold. Also, Destiny (PS4/PS3) was released to nice numbers as well as a heavy boost in PS4 system sales. Famitsu tracks the sell through rate of Destiny for PS4 and PS3 in the 60-80% and 80-100%, respectively. Lastly, Hyrule Warriors sneaks over 100k as it will most likely drop out of Media Create's top 20.

How long can Smash 4 3DS hold out against Yo-Kai Watch 2? Wait for the coming weeks to find out!

Big uptick in PS4 sales (sure, it's only one week), Wii U continues to drop. I'm surprised Destiny sold so well, not surprised SSB3DS did.

There's an audience for shooters and other western-style stuff in Japan in the same way there's an audience for Atlus games in the west. You'll see them show up pretty high in the sales for a week and then never again.

Not surprised at Smash Bros sales. I think the 3DS version has a shot at being the best-selling game released in 2014, and the only game I can really see that might surpass its lifetime sales is Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, since people still go nuts for those games.

Since Nintendo already announced an improved 3DS which comes out in a few weeks I'm surprised people are still buying the current one without the price being reduced.

I imagine the kind of people who are buying 3DSes at this point are mostly the kind of people who don't follow gaming news and announcements that closely.

This Bayo 2 sales number is just yet another proof that people saying they want New IPs are full of ****.

1. Bayonetta is not a new IP. It's newer than some of the other franchises on that list, but it's not a New IP so long as there's a 2 after the title.

2. It's on the Wii U, a console relatively no one owns and similarly no one wants...at least until Smash Bros. Expecting high sales for that game on a platform its intended audience is not on is sheer lunacy.

3. It's made by Platinum, a studio that specializes in making bombs for publishers that think they're a more popular developer than they actually are. I would have been shocked if it had sold well.

Bayo 2 was a sequel no one wanted before Nintendo became desperate enough to finance it. Of course it's going to sell poorly.

Bayo 2 debuted at #3 behind two huge juggernauts on handhelds. It's the highest selling console title of the week.
It did not bomb. It did ok. Not great, but respectable.

Could have been worse for Bayo, albeit not much worse. 40K on WiiU in a dead country. If thats any indication, which it is most likely not, I think it will do %wise what all Platinum games do.

Bayonetta 2 actually deputed higher then Donkey Kong and Wind Waker HD did in Japan so that's actually a decent first week considering the type of game it is.  Hell, considering The Wondeful 101 did around 6k its first week, Iwata is probably doing somersaults over Bayonetta's numbers.

Everyone in Japan is probably just too busy playing Smash Bros to buy Bayo II.

Wouldn't worry about sales.

Bayonetta is not a new IP.
I was comparing sales number of W101 to Bayo 2.

As i said, i am okay with number B2 got. I am just disappointed that New IP of the same caliber couldn't muster the same amount.

Sadly Bayonetta 2 selling just as bad as I predicted.  Nintendo/PG wasted time and money porting over the first game and added a bunch of "Nintendo" costumes which didn't help sales one bit.  The bad news is this is going kill any hope for NA marketing push from Nintendo, it's going be lucky if it sell 1/4 million lifetime.

HOLD UP THERE.

Why is it a waste of time? Maybe its not so much about adding to boost sales as its about enhancing a 3 year old port. You do what is "right" and let the chips fall where they may. Would Bayonetta be a better value to the consumer part one was disregarded in the first place? Seems like they are just trying to do right for its fan base. Little extras! Plus mostly every other port that has been late on Wiiu has either been better all around (NFS Most Wanted) or contained extra features and such (Batman AC and Deus Ex:)
