Yokai Watch 2 takes back the crown while the streaming-only Dragon Quest X for 3DS sells 52k for second place. Siliconera reports that DQX 3DS shipments have been halted due to critical connection issues for the cloud-streaming solution of the 3DS software ( http://www.siliconera.com/2014/09/09/square-enix-casts-snooze-temporarily-stop-dragon-quest-x-3ds-shipments/ , http://www.siliconera.com/2014/09/10/dragon-quest-x-nintendo-3ds-major-issues/ ). Also, the Xbox One launched in Japan last week with Titanfall being its top selling game at 8.9k.

EDIT: If the Titanfall numbers seem low, Media Create does not count bundled versions of the game.
From Road on NeoGAF
Media Create: (Titanfall standalone) + (Xbox One Day One Edition) = 8,961.
Famitsu: (Titanfall standalone) + (Xbox One Day One Edition) + (Xbox+Kinect Day One Edition) = 22,416

About that Hyrule Warriors selling 1 million though...has any Dynasty Warriors game ever had only 10% of its sales be from Japan? DW8 sold 350k in Japan, and only around 150k in the rest of the world, combined (in fact that seems to be the average for most Dynasty Warriors games). I think the people who you see on message boards that say they are going to buy HW will buy it, and no one else.

XBone launch in Japan is just the cost of doing business to being considered in the Videogame Console Space.  Its just symbolic for Microsoft.  They've probably been trying to figure how not to do it and found no way.

I don't know why MS even bothers to release their consoles in Japan.  I suppose if it doesn't lose them any money and the sales are just a nice bonus then, sure, why the hell not?  But there's no way that it works like that.  I imagine there is a fair bit of overhead in releasing a console in a region.  It isn't like they just ship American consoles and games over there.

The Xbox brand is American and is/was popular in America.  So isn't that fine?  That's the biggest market for videogames where the government doesn't turn a blind eye to piracy.  If you're selling videogames in America then you made it.  That's the market that companies in other countries want to thrive in.  What does it matter if Japanese customers don't want to buy an American videogame system full of a games made by Western developers for Western gamer tastes?  The Japanese aren't even that interested in Japanese consoles with Japanese games.  Wii U "success" is like the best you could hope for.

Now that the last big Wii U "System Seller" is done selling major units, anyone want to take a bet on how long Smash Bros. U will be relevant on the NPDs? 2 months? 3? I can't imagine it being more than that considering the huge Spring 2014 releases on the other consoles.  It might be boosted a bit by the NPDs combining the 3DS & Wii U SKUs by nature of having the same name.

Considering how quickly Brawl fell off the charts on a system with probably 10 times the install base at the time, I doubt it'll be there long.
