General Gaming / SONY patented PS Power Glove?
« on: June 13, 2004, 05:49:45 PM »
http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?..........

I wish I could post pictures, but basically it is a patent for a wireless glove that is to act as some sort of force feed-back controller that you wear on your hands.  It is being designed to work with the PS3 and also seems very reminiscent <sp> of the NES Power Glove at least in concept.  I don't know how this is supposed to work with anything that may need analog control cause I don't see a gyro-scope like device (something that will measure the X-Y-Z axis')

edit: obvious spelling errors

Which one do you think will end up being the final name for the DS or do you think it is completely unrelated to the DS.

According to NinGC.com Warner Bros. studios is tired of game companies capitalizing off of Movie liscensed names while providing sub-par games.

Quote

"The game industry has had its time to exploit movie studios all day long and to get away with producing inferior products," says Hall. "But, with Warner Brothers, no more. Those days are over. And we mean it. This isn't just lip service. Honestly, the bad games are over."

apparently Atari wasn't too happy about this, as they admit that not all their games are up to par but they still managed to sell over 4 million copies of 'The Matrix' for over $250 million worldwide.

Latest effort to make Japan love the Xbox hits the airwaves

After price cuts, special edition packs, software bundles and even "hugging pillows" featuring Kasumi from Dead or Alive, the latest attempt to make Japanese gamers interested in Microsoft's Xbox has emerged - a satellite TV show dedicated to the console, co-hosted by a soft porn starlet.

Nintendo Gaming / Surprising Support for the DS
« on: May 22, 2004, 06:01:29 PM »
I don't know if any of you watch G4TV (soon to be G4TechTV), but this is a paraphrased quote off of their interview on PULSE with Tomonobu Itagaki - creator of the DOA series:
" We will definately be supporting the DS, but as far as the touch screen goes, you may want to think about DOA Beach Volley Ball, because you can touch the girls.

So I guess you can count Team Ninja in onto the DS developer list, and sleep well knowing that all Nintendo fans may get their share of the over glorified T & A that is DOA and Beach Volleyball also!!

P.S. it has been rumored that RARE is also supporting the DS just as they have been supporting the GBA.
they have the development kits, but M$ denies support of DS, just the SP.

P.S.S. Here on the Nintendojo Forum I read  that M$ may be having other game studio's support the cash cow that will be the DS with such studio's as 'Bungie' with their ever popular HALO. - Quartermain's rumor report from EGM mag.

General Gaming / Xbox mini spotted at Bioware's booth.........
« on: May 14, 2004, 06:36:35 PM »
in their invite only area,
according to Shogmaster over at Beyond3D Forums

Quote

Unforunately, I did not see it personally, but my good friend I went to the show with did. He was asking for a certain poster and they took him into the invite only area to get it for him. He followed in. And there, he saw a miniature XBox (about 1/3 the size of the current version), running Jade Emprie demo. It had the DVD drive in the middle of the face instead of the left side, and still had 4 ports, and styling resembled the current one. It looked "ready to be put on the shelf" according to him. They rushed him and his friends back out with the poster, but he was absolutely positive about what he saw.

Later We were at the Tecmo booth talking to a marketing honcho we know there and we mentioned it to him and his reaction was "we didn't get our's yet!" instead of "really! I didn't know such thing existed". Apprently he was already expecting theirs.

You really think Microsoft is gonna release a new, sleeker, slimmer, smaller version of the Xbox, and not mention it at all?  I know quite a few people that might buy an xbox at the right price if they(me included), had room for one.
And this might boost their sales in Japan also, since their biggest complaint besides being an American product is that the Xbox is just too big.

I also heard prior to E3 that Sony was supposed to reveal the PSTwo.  Has anyone heard anything about it?

Nintendo Gaming / NIntendo wants your thoughts!!!
« on: May 03, 2004, 10:30:30 AM »
This is your chance to be heard, and possibly taken serious.  One of The NOA members on the Nintendo.com forums
is asking for input on how to improve on on everything GC and GB from games to image.

So now is the time to speak up!

Nintendo.com Forum

Time to express your opinion on The Big N. Let us know what you think we can do to improve our products, services and image. I won't be responding to every thought or opinion, but I will read them all, as will others.

If there are any really good ideas, I'll pass them along as my own. Woah! Eval Pickle moment...scratch that.

Some bulletpoints to get your brainstorming juices going:

What features do you wish the Nintendo GameCube had, but doesn't.

What do you think are the best improvements in the GCN over the N64.

What do our competitor's systems do, that the GCN should do?

What genres of games should we focus on?

Connectivity: Proven fun that should continue vs. gimmick that didn't work.

Think of the above stuff, but with Game Boy in mind.

If you think Nintendo has a kiddie image, why?

What kind of image do you think we should strive for? How do we get there?

The warranty on our hardware is four-times longer than our competitors. Do you care? Does service have anything to do with purchasing decisions?

What do we need to quit doing? What do we do that makes you go "Oh...man...not again!"

What do we need to do more of? What do we do that makes you go "Oh, yeah! WOOT! Nintendo rocks!"

P.S. topic is about 2 weeks old but it is still open and he is supposedly still checking it.
