General Chat / Re: My Christmas Rant - Or why I hate people.
« on: December 14, 2008, 01:19:55 AM »
It all comes down to people just don't care anymore.  Our current culture has made it pretty much acceptable to be this way because it has been made into a culture where everyone for themselves, and those that get in the way be damned for being foolish.

Today was big day for digging in Everlore.  I got 3 fossils (all new unlike day before yesterday) and I got 3 gyroids (two were the same, but a neighbor gave me a fourth which was different).  I had a seventh dig spot, but it was a pitfall seed.  Bill said it could be 1 or more depending on the day, but when I kept finding dig spots and they were actual things, I was surprised.

I haven't seen it, but I have read the first book in the series.  Right now there are 3 books available, Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, & Dexter in the Dark.  A fourth book, Dexter by Design should be out sometime in 2009 from what I can scrounge up.

Like I said I haven't seen the show at all, but I loved the first book, haven't read the others yet.

Is that they smell. I was sitting down a funny way just then and I could smell my bum and it wasn't very nice.

1) cut their noses off and they won't smell anymore.

2) bum=ass... how funny did you sit to sit on your face?

I like the balloon present set up better than in the DS version.  Having a better chance to shoot them down is a plus.  Also being able to go to a town that sells slingshots because Nook in your own town is being stingy with them (after watching like a hundred balloons drift by, natch) makes it all the more fun.  Thanks Bill. =)

Hay guys did you hear how fun City Folk is?  It's sooooooooo fun!

Give me "pissed smiley" or give me death!

He's too busy being my town mascot!

And my shirt (on a rotating basis =D )

How is this even possible?

Paid off second mortgage in one day!  Did it blind too!

I guess I have too!

Bill has Buck and Punchy... I had both in DS version and wouldn't let either one move away... once you move to my town, you never leave. lolsinisterlike

Um any new details that was in Wild World like that painting on the ground stuff. Any new animals that run a store or give you things much like Guliver. That sea fairing guy that washed ashore of your town. Is there an island in the Wii game? Is that ghost in the Wii game that helps get rid of the weeds? In the GC game you could get items from Nook by giving him codes. Is that the case in the Wii game?
Finally tell me about the city.

These videos should get you started:

As for your questions...
- The codes in the original version was Nintendo's way of pseudo online interactivity without any connection. It was used so players could trade stuff without connecting online. With WW and CF being full-fledged online titles the codes are no longer needed.

- Still no word if the Ghost appears in CF. Since CF is based on WW, however, and he never made an appearance there its likely he got canned a long time ago.

- Gulliver doesn't wash up on shore anymore. He appears on a flying saucer. If you hit it with your slingshot it will explode and land on Earth. When that happens Gulliver will appear dressed as an astronaut. He will ask you to find the pieces of his spaceship and will give you a rare item if you do.

- No, there are no islands in the Wii version. The only handheld connectivity is the moving van option which transfer your catalogue data from the DS to the Wii.

Ghost = Wisp?  Then yes, he's in here.  From what I have been reading the days he will show up (after Midnight) a empty genie-like lamp will be somewhere in your town to pick up and at night he will show up and you can get a wish.

Did anyone confirm if USB hubs work with Wii?

They do work, hell Rock Band 1/2 for Wii comes with a USB hub.

The instructions for  Wii Speak say you need a powered hub and not one that draws power off a usb port.  (I think I got that right)  Anyways, you need one with a power cord.

General Chat / Re: Superman Reboot
« on: August 24, 2008, 09:41:18 PM »
IMO the reason Superman Returns didn't do as well as projected was because it wasn't a origin picture.  While it specifically and intentionally wasn't a sequel to Superman or Superman II, it played off those two movies and both of them were well over 20 years old at the time Superman Returns came out.  It wasn't a bad movie, I enjoyed it and have seen it more than once, but for a movie franchise which started out great and turned to crap by the last movie, which was released in 1987, 19 years before Superman Returns, it should have been different or more.  And Superman Returns ignored Superman III & IV, for reasons that III was campy but fun and IV was a cash in that was hurt because of budget cuts.  Too much time had passed, so Superman Returns should have been the second movie released after a proper origin movie was released first.

But for my personal choice, of all the DC comics franchises, Batman was and is my all time favorite.  Next would be Wonder Woman because I like chicks that kick ass. =D  Then would be Superman.

I do it all the time, but only with ones I have seen all the way from the beginning to the end.  If I haven't seen it before and don't have the DVD I change the channel because I want to see it unedited first.  I try to catch stuff they cut out, if I can remember it.

Here in Colonial Beach the price of gas has gone down from 3.88 on monday to 3.77 on tuesday morning to 3.66 tuesday afternoon.  I haven't been into town since yesterday so I don't know what it now.

I think the trend now and for the past few years is to not include a USB cable with the printer.  I don't recall the laser printer we have at the office, which cost nearly 1,000.00, having a USB cable come with it.
