New Sonic Anime!

Sonic!  He can really move!  Sonic!  He’s got an attitude!

Sonic Team has posted a new web site concerning an upcoming Animated series entitled Sonic X.  With three animated television series and an OAV to call his own, Sonic is hardly a stranger to the television scene, and come April 6 Japanese Sonic fans can watch their favorite hedgehog every Sunday morning from 8:30 to 9:00 on Tokyo TV 6!

Loosely based upon Sonic the Hedgehog’s most recent games, Sonic X places the entire Sonic cast in modern man’s world, all thanks to the chaos emeralds, of course.  Sonic X features Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles and Sonic Advance 2’s Cream and her sidekick chao, Cheese, as they confront Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik and his allies, Shadow and Rouge.  Sonic X also introduces Chris, a human boy who joins Sonic’s cause.  There is currently no word on a North American release.

Yes this is great news! I love Sonic and the animation in this looks really cool. I just hope North America will be able to see this sometime soon.

Coulisse? That's Chris. That's official as well, it even showed his name on a screenshot from a trailer at a previous show Sega attended. There's also another human named Danny, Chris' friend, although he doesn't seem to get as much attention paid to him as Chris by the series, more of a sub-character. He does have a seat in the larger Tornado now, though. ;P

For more information about the trailer that was shown, take a look at:

Look at the left frame, there are two links you'll be interested in under the "Sonic X" section. (This is not my site, I'm just pointing out a good one to get more information from.)

Sonic already had three cartoons. Bring back Mario and/or Link.

I guess coming off of Kirby's heels, we're seeing a resurgence of Game characters with their own shows. I remember watching Sonic back in elementary school right after school and on Saturday  mornings. My question is how the hell did they get away with that? The one series I saw weekdays mainly had Scratch and Grounder (Robotnik's badniks), and the occasional appearance of Robitnik's mother (The apple didn't fall too far from the tree.)! The one on Saturday's had Sonic in a more gothic  setting, with interesting supporting characters (Sally, that Bunny who was cybernetical enchanced who I can't get the name of the top of my head right now, and who could forget that Pierre the coward?)

Its amazing I could recall all that. I feel old

Perhaps we'll see Mario and/or Link make a comeback? Mario would seem straight foward. (Wonder what Captain Lou Albano is doing lately j/k.) Mario and Luigi sticking it to Bowser and/ or Wario. (What if Wario got his own show...)

But what about Link? What art direction would they use? The one based on Wind Waker or perhaps?  My imagination is running away from me, better quit while I'm ahead.

" Captain Lou Albano is doing lately"

IMO he does a better Mario voice then Charles whatever.  He sounds more I dunno "Mario" I always thought him and Luigi from the SMBSS always fit JUST right.  When I hear toad it still reminds me of toad from the show with that annoying voice ><

anyway Sonic Anime should be great, and they'll bring it to the US trust me
