funny story about SOD, and how they ultimately broke up b/c one member was unhappy about the way another member was portrayed in a VH1 "Behind The Music" episode about anthrax. I'm thrilled somebody else on this board  listens to skinny puppy!!! hey deminisma, have u heard cevin key's other side project, music fur cats? ministry is awesome too, I saw them last wednesday in wash, dc. also, for the Danaconda, can u recommend any other opeth? I only have one song of theirs, a cover of celtic frost's "circle of the tyrants"

Nintendo Gaming / GCN-GBA Connectivity: who cares?
« on: May 14, 2003, 08:54:26 AM »
I guess bill kinda answered my question about crystal chronicles, since I don't have a GBA. I tend to agree with silks tho, I'm not overly impressed by the emphasis on GCN-GBA connectivity.

I guess this follows in the same vein as manunited4eva's last post, but on average, a musician makes between 24-30 points for every album sold. so when u talk about a band like for instance, metallica, selling 10 million copies of the "black" album. multiply that number by 30 cents, then divide it by 4. then go ahead and take out 10 percent that goes to management/agents, and then another 30-40 percent for taxes. artists don't make a lot of money for selling albums. the real money comes from all the touring, something that DMB does constantly. anywho, I also recommend SOD (Stormtroopers Of Death) it's scott ian's side-project punk band, when he wasn't busy tearing sh!t up with anthrax.

bah, you'll be back, they always come back. seriously tho, I don't think u should be down on nintendo. true they are not without their flaws, but when u compare their lineup for E3 to ms or sony, I think they will more than hold their own.

if it's not too late, they should add kevin nash and team angle to the roster. I'd much rather play as one of those guys, than say, al snow.

just saw the setlist over on allmetallica.com from last nite's "icon" show:
sum 41 - for whom the bell tolls/enter sandman
staind - nothing else matters
avril lavigne - fuel
snoop dogg - sad but true (appeared to be high during his performance)
korn - one
limp bizkit - sanitarium
metallica - hit the lights/enter sandman/blackened/creeping death/battery (medley)
metallica debuted "frantic" from the "st. anger" album to close the show.

all covers were abreviated to fit everything in to the 90-minute show for mtv, which airs tuesday at 9.

35
rob halford once said that sum 41 was the next great heavy metal band, LOL. unfortunately, they too will be performing on this icon show. I can only imagine how much they paid rob to spew such nonsense. avril lavigne doesn't have the pipes to do most metallica songs, I think it'd be pretty hilarious if she tried to sing something like phantom lord, or anything off of kill 'em all. next thing u know, justin timberlake will be onstage talking about how much metallica influenced him to get into the music business, blecch!!!

36
korn is doing a song, but I doubt it will be "disposable heroes" unless they find a way to trim it down. it would be awesome if someone covers "motorbreath" but I don't think that's likely.

37
I agree with the omen, that is a great spot for the metallica icon show. excellent choice using "damage inc" as the background track. the artist I'm most looking forward to seeing on the icon show is avril lavigne, anyone else?

this is probably a very stupid question but I hafta ask it anyways. I am so very close to the end of the dragon roost island stage but I keep getting stuck on the part with the grappling hook where I need to swing east. it seems as tho link only wants to go straight with the grappling hook. how can I get him to swing sideways so I can get past this stage? thx.

AKI is developing it so I should have reason to be optimistic, right? even tho I'm not a fan of rap music, this game looks like it will give me my wrestling fix I've so desperately needed ever since the disappointment that was wrestlemania x8.

hey IanSane, u talk about watching old tapes of mania's past to get hyped for XIX, well let me suggest WM3. not only did u have the main event between hulk and andre, but also one of my favorite matches of all-time between randy savage and ricky steamboat for the IC title.

hey Rick, what can u tell us about the story mode? from what I read about it on IGN, it sounds kind of ridiculous. the whole notion of getting kicked out of wwe, then exacting revenge on Vinnie Mac by destroying his corporation and whatnot, sounds like something out of a really cheesy Van Damme movie.

General Chat / New Metallica Album: St. Anger *UPDATE*
« on: March 13, 2003, 11:17:25 AM »
following up on MetalHead666's post, metallica is probably the most relevant band in whatever is left of rock music nowadays. will metallica's album debut at #1 upon it's release? yes! and when they go on tour this summer, will millions of fans be willing to shell out $75 a pop to see them play? absolutely! I've seen metallica play 4 times and each show I've had a great time. whether u like them or not, anyone who has seen them, will tell you they put on one of the best live shows, period. and I can practically guarantee that wherever metallica plays, every seat in the house is filled.

Nintendo Gaming / Castlevania
« on: February 24, 2003, 12:57:46 PM »
this is a follow-up to the guy who was complaining about the disney titles. those disney titles were holdovers from when rare was developing them back on the 64. once rare was bought by microsoft, konami took over the license so that nintendo could fulfill their contract with disney, or something to that effect. I think castlevania on GC would sell quite well, but I can't blame konami for placing a higher priority on PS2.

Nintendo Gaming / Are you satisfied with your Cube at the moment?
« on: February 18, 2003, 08:52:50 AM »
I am more than satisfied with GameCube's current selection of games. I got metroid prime for christmas, picked up skies of arcadia legends a few weeks ago, and just got my zelda bonus disc on saturday. those should last me until wind waker. there was that 6-month period at the beginning of the GC lifespan where there were no titles I bought except for ssb:m, but things began to pick up when RE dropped in may. games I currently own also include pikmin, RE0, and ED, and I wouldn't trade any of them. for me, it was all about being patient and having faith in the big N, that they would deliver AAA 1st & 2nd-party titles like they've done on their other systems, thank u nintendo!!!

General Chat / Who wants to marry my mom?
« on: February 14, 2003, 12:41:33 PM »
give me 2 weeks, and I could train a team of chimpanzees to do a better job of running a network than those guys over at ABC. in a related note, ABC announced they plan on airing 6 different variations of the bachelor for next season. that "Are You Hot" show is such a lame idea for a show, it could only air on a network like ABC. they blatantly ripped off that idea from howard stern, and now he's suing them over it. NBC at one time said they wanted nothing to do with the "reality TV" genre, but damn, they have taken it to new lows I never thought possible. the only thing worse than shows like fear factor and meet my folks are those pathetic excuses for sitcoms like AUSA and scrubs *GAG*

Nintendo Gaming / Madden 2004 on GameCube?
« on: February 10, 2003, 11:31:12 AM »
EA would have to be crazy not to release Madden for GC. the game sold pretty decent, plus there's absolutely no competition besides blitz, now that the 2k series is off the scene.
