I believe it has to enter actual production by October. They seem far enough along to make that production goal, but fingers crossed that they just decide not to pursue a 3rd unsuccessful F4 movie and certainly not a 4th one after that.
The hope is that assuming this one fails like the previous 2, Fox will just give the rights back like they did with Ghost Rider and choose not to waste anymore time or money on the franchise.

I wouldn't know how awesome or awful Heroes is as I got my wife interested in the series after watching the first episode and she committed Netflix Adultery and powered through the series while I was at work. I'll figure out a way to spoil something for her as revenge.

The problem with Heroes is that it's limited by its budget.

What disappoints me more is Dark Angel and Firefly are shows i'd rather see a return of. But neither is possible anymore.

Another problem with Heroes, which was evident in s2, is that they changed the plan at the last minute and the show suffered for it.

They were supposed to have a mostly all new cast for the next season, focusing on a whole new group probably in a different part of the world with a whole different set of powers. It was supposed to be a brand new story that would possibly all link back together at some point.

S2 was stupid, pointless and went in a circle that led right back to where it started. S3 had a few moments, and by the time it got interesting again in s4, it was already too damn late.

and yes, the show that needed a late revival was Firefly. But everyone from that has moved on and Joss is busy doing Billion Dollar Movies now, so that won't happen.

What is more feasible with Firefly is a new spin-off movie. It is a one-time event and could potentially give fans some more.

I wish that somehow the tabled Stargate movies could be revived as well.
