To be fair, Netflix could go out to a store and physically buy copies of movies and then rent those out. The 30 day deals with studios just means the studios wont ship copies to Netflix.

Are you sure? I thought that you have to get some sort of licencing deal to be able to rent out movies or else it's some sort of copyright law violation. Just like you can't technically do free showings of films in the park on a big screen without a studio OK.

It looks like Zach Braff's kickstarter project is actually going to meet its goal; with that, my last shred of faith in humanity is gone.

I might try to find it, as I haven't seen it either, but it will air tomorrow.

Quote
Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television

I'm a little excited for this.

here is a sample of what the show could be like: Avengers Extra - "Item 47"

now imagine appearances for D-list Marvel heroes and villians (possibly even a TV version of Spiderman, because Sony only has the Movie rights. ;) ), season finales that lead right into spin-off movies for lower-tier characters.

This show could be a launching platform for lots of Marvel things going forward, such as direct to TV movies, lead ins to big theater movies with superhero/villian introductions, origins and story archs.

I just hope the show is successful.

edit:
a few guest appearances and recalls from earlier movies also wouldn't hurt: The Consultant

Looking forward to shield but the name is stupid. I am wondering how Marvel plans to handle the show towing into the various films at then time. Also I wish Claire and Benny were in the show.

Found the video clip.

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-watch-abc-teases-hulk-series-62575/

and as the article suggest, it might be The Abomination and not The Hulk, as it does look very similar the the footage used in "The Consultant" linked in my last post.

I wish this was true.

But NOOOOO, Marvel HAS to kill Spectacular Spider-Man (THE only legitimately great Marvel cartoon up to that point) in favour of USM (what a trainwreck) and completely destroy last episodes of EMH (the second great Marvel cartoon).

As proof that NBC is in really, truly, beyond terrible shape, they thought it was beneficial to them to pick up Parks & Recreation and Community for their sixth and fifth seasons respectively. While I think they've each lost a step, they're still better than just about anything else on television right now as far as comedy goes.

Agents of Shield is just Fringe (at least initially) in the Marvel Universe.

No John Nobel = Fail.

In a related note, Fringe did get a very fitting finish.

This. This. And triple this. He totally carried the show and made it what it was.

In a related note, Fringe did get a very fitting finish.

After 100 episodes i'm glad it ended, and ended the way it wanted to. It was very appropriate.

Following on from Fringe, there's a new show from JJ / JH Wyman again called Almost Human.

so this shield thing is basically some spinoff of a popular show featuring an elite team of people who are supposed to deal with some supernatural threat because the people from the main show never showed up...

so Torchwood with X-men
