Is that a port of the Wii game or a new entry? And if it is a new entry, who is making it since the dev studio is gone?
Marvelous Entertainment owns the Little King's Story IP, so they are the ones who made it. From what I can tell from videos, it has the same locations, monsters, and units, so it looks like a remake. There may be some new content too, but I'm not sure.

It's a shame that they compromised the artistic integrity of the game in an attempt to garner more sales, especially since the old style was more unique and the new style looks like generic animé, though it isn't surprising. They also made the king a teenager, so now it's more like Teen King's Story. From what I can tell, they removed a lot of the old story stuff and cutscenes as well, so I think it has a new story. If you ask me, they basically removed the charm of the game. Oh well, at least I'm not going to miss anything by never playing the game.

I always thought it was disturbing that the King was a little kid and had multiple wives. Then there is also the genocide aspect of going out and exterminating the Onii and other creatures in order to expand the territory of the kingdom.

They own the IP, but it was Cing that made the original so I was more curious about what dev team was at the helm now.

At least it shows they aren't abandoning the IP.

Recently started playing the Wii version again and would love a sequel with pointer controls.

Is that a 360 game I see at number 12? It is a rare sight to see a 360 game on the Japanese sales charts.

And yes, the Vita isn't doing so hot, but it is outselling the 360 and even the Wii (slightly).

I'm glad to see COD MW3 has dropped to 08 on the chart. That mediocre half assed glorified MW2 map pack of a game didn't deserve the sales it did get, imho. It broke Black Ops 1st day sales record to be the fastest selling game of all time, but having played it recently I don't feel like it deserved that hallmark.

Not a terrible game though. I'm just saying its not worth selling as highly as it has.

I'm sad, but not surprised, to see Resident Evil: Raccoon City in the Top 10, but no sign of Silent Hill Downpour.  From what I've seen and heard, Raccoon City is pretty definitively the lesser game.  It's a pity that Capcom is a much better company than Konami when it comes to marketing.

I love that MLB The Show 12 is third while MLB 2K12 is tenth despite 2K being available on three times as many platforms with far more disparity in terms of install bases. Thank god 2K's third party exclusivity is expiring, because they have been awful at doing baseball games.

2. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (X360, PS3) - Capcom

So either RE6 is going to do monstrous business this fall, or ORC will do so much damage to the RE brand that it'll tank. I'm leaning toward the former, but it seems that ORC's sales rank is the same as its quality.

I have never played the new Silent Hill (or any Silent Hill), but I was listening to an IGN podcast and they basically said it was terrible.

And they're basically wrong.  Yeah, it's an incredibly flawed game that could have used polish here and there, but it's certainly not a bad one.  People made up their mind that that game was going to be crap before they even played it, and they saw what they intended to see.  If you want an example of this, just watch Giant Bomb's terrible Quick Look of the game.

I don't mind if you don't like a game.  But I dislike the pre-judging and double-standards that Downpour has received, considering most of the things people are complaining about with Downpour were also true of pretty much every Silent Hill before it (including the beloved and "untouchable" Silent Hill 2).

Based on my own experience with the game and others on my Twitter feed, those who gave Downpour a fair shot and didn't hold the original Silent Hills up as some inflated, unreasonable standard generally liked Downpour.  Those who view the original Silent Hills with ridiculous nostalgia goggles and are unable to see the flaws in the original games did not like Downpour.

I was speaking of critics in general (though a fairly above-average score is better than I expected).  People just did not give that game a fair chance, mostly because everyone likes to remember Silent Hill 2 as this perfect experience it never was.  I replayed it recently in the HD Collection, and man is that game ****.  And that's not a recent impression created by the HD version.  I always thought that was a terrible "game" with horrible combat, little to no direction, uninspired level design, and atrocious voice acting in its original incarnation (the new dub is a massive improvement).  But people like the story and characters, and that has made people forget just how terrible that game plays.  And I could say that of most of the Silent Hill games.

Probably similar to RE2, the game is a classic, but play it now and, well, it just doesn't hold up well at all. I honestly haven't played a SH game since SH3, but have been interested in games like Homecoming, Silent Hill for Wii, and even this game. Would be interested to try them considering I really don't have any expectations either way.

IMO, all the Silent Hill games are good in their own way (except maybe Origins, but I really didn't get far enough into that game to judge it too much).  Homecoming gets a lot of criticism for being stylistically similar to the movie (which I thought was pretty good) and for having a big combat focus, but I thought the story was pretty good (if very derivative of a few other SH games) and the combat was fairly enjoyable.  Shattered Memories (the Wii game) has some frustrating chase sequences and I never thought it was particularly creepy, but the psychological angle of the story and the general flow is pretty good.  Continuing the theme, Downpour doesn't have a fantastic combat system, but it's still far more of a horror game than Resident Evil has been in a very long time and I enjoyed the story and the creativity of several sequences.

Well when I get a chance I'll check out Downpour and Homecoming (any particular one you prefer?).

I prefer Downpour (Homecoming's story is centered around the SH1/3 cult, a plot element I always thought was dumb and cheapened the setting), but I'd recommend you start with Homecoming.  It's pretty cheap these days, and I think the stronger combat and more focused approach (Downpour has shades of being an Open World game whereas Homecoming is pretty linear) probably make Homecoming a better game.  And given that the combat-heavy Silent Hill 3 was your last excursion in the franchise, Homecoming's style would probably be easier for you to get into.

But seriously, Shattered Memories is a good game, and the best version of it is on Wii so I wouldn't pass that one up either.

Silent Hill went downhill after 2 so it's not surprising the sales never picked up.  After the 3rd and 4th The Room, most of the fans wrote the series off never to return.

Homecoming was the last one I played and it wasn't all that great.  RE has some shitty spinoffs in the past but at the series continues to have "high" production values--so at least it's decent to watch.

Kid Icarus: Uprising has been bought 135,000 times in the first week in the US.

Fortunately, IGN managed to get Nintendo to reveal a few sales numbers, Kid Icarus included. Kid Icarus: Uprising sold over 135,000 copies in March in the U.S. Since the game was released on the 23rd, that accounts for about a week of sales.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 7 sold another 118,000 copies in March, while Super Mario 3D Land sold 100,000. The two games are at 1.58 million and 1.98 million sold in the U.S. respectively. Finally, the Nintendo 3DS itself sold 225,000 units in March.
