I'm all good now.  It still sucks that they denied this and made it like a few weeks later.  I don't think that's right.

Anyway, will be picking up an original on Amazon for $100, it won't be as good as this new model, but whatever.  I really want to play Kid Icarus and Mario 3D Land and Paper Mario.  Nintendo's greed won't stop me.

I agree... it is disappointing to know that the great Miyamoto is capable of lying. All of us should remember this whenever he says stuff in the future, because if he lied now then he could lie about other stuff as well.

People should get over the absence of a second circle pad. "Oh but I want to play COD just the same as I would on a console" Maybe if they keep ignoring it, developers will make better single pad games like Kid Icarus; maybe that's what a COD needs to make new fans. It's not like the circle pad pro doesn't already exist and everyone from Nintendo to developers clearly don't care.

Companies always lie or give some kind of vague statements regarding future hardware or games. Every person on these boards except for you 2 believed Miyamoto's words were gospel. That revision was being worked on the second the the first model was released and you knew it. Miyamoto said what he was supposed to say, to keep his job and not canabalize sales before it was time, so don't go around demonizing him like his earlier statements were so unprecedented. Chozo I think you would just be happier quitting Nintendo all together. You are becoming to Nintendo what Uncle Ruckus is to black people.

If you honestly believed that they weren't working on a new version of the hardware you are very gullible.

I didn't believe it then either. In fact, if you want I can prove it to you because I know I said I didn't believe it at the time.

Here you go. There is the proof I knew Miyamoto was lying even back then, so how was I gullible?

Chozo I think you would just be happier quitting Nintendo all together.

I disagree. I grew up on Nintendo.

I don't think Miyamoto or Nintendo view the 3DS XL as a revision, since it doesn't add functionality and isn't replacing the current model on the market.

But, when Miyamoto was interviewed, they likely weren't working on a new version; it was already done.

I know, I hate that logic, too.

That's a good point... I guess if one looks at it like that it might not be considered a lie...

However, I'm not sure if I even believe that either, because there is a good chance the XL won't be the only 3DS revision. If this plays out like the DS then we could expect at least 1 or 2 more 3DS revisions before all is said and done.

Ehh, it makes sense though. It would have made more sense if the XL launched alongside the standard 3DS, but that's water under the bridge now.

I actually think it would have if it were feasible. But at the time, the larger 3D screen wasn't economical and Nintendo might not have had manufacturing capacity. And people really wouldn't have gone for the $300 price point or whatever it would have been.

I complain BECAUSE I care. Do you understand what I mean? If I didn't care you wouldn't see me complain because I wouldn't even be here. I complain because I want Nintendo to succeed, and if I think they are making blunders or mistakes I'm going to speak up, and not be a Yes Man who thinks they can do no wrong. Do you get what I'm saying?

So? That's like staying in a relationship you're miserable in just because... well, I don't know why people do that. It's silly

I'm not miserable. There are some things Nintendo does (or doesn't) that I don't like, and so I complain about those things, but that doesn't mean its not a pleasurable experience over all.

No. I really don't.

You didn't believe Miyamoto then complained that he lied. I'm struggling to see the logic in that. Why are you complaining about something you didn't believe to begin with? Miyamoto didn't make a blunder. He's obligated to answer the way he answered because of his job. I haven't the slightest clue why you're so offended by that.

Just hope they make these ones more durable, fix the bad shoulder buttons, and provide ample space between the two screens so that we can avoid streaks on the 3D screen.

I don't know. The internet video gaming community, I guess....

Even if complaining doesn't achieve any results, its still venting and what is wrong with that?

No. I really don't.

What is so difficult to understand about someone not approving of lying? I think most people frown on that practice, so I doubt I'm alone in disapproving of it. Isn't lying one of the 7 deadly sins? Would you be shocked if I said I was against theft too?

LOL. Chozo, buddy, pal, lying is not a Cardinal Sin. Lying maybe alright in a certain circumstance. In this case, who the **** cares that he lied? Someone asked him a question, and because of his job, he lied to keep it a secret. Why would you think he'd spill the beans, weeks before the announcement? Chozo, this is getting sad.

I thought honesty was considered a virtue? Isn't that why everyone looks up to "Honest Abe" and George Washington because he cut down a cherry tree and then fessed up to it? I thought lying was universally frowned upon. Maybe its not a sin, but its still a practice generally disapproved of.

And why is it a problem? Well, aside from us no longer being able to trust anything Miyamoto says in the future it probably isn't a problem.

You don't know him personally so I don't know why you're taking it personally. If my best friend lied to me, I'd be upset. If my mom lied to me, I'd be upset. If a man I have never met and don't know who lives on the other side of the planet lied about something that impacts my life in the smallest way (and even smaller in your case because you don't have a 3DS and don't seem to want one) because his job dictates he answer certain questions in a certain way, I'd shrug my shoulders and move on with my life.

It was an unnecessary lie on Miyamoto's part. Part of his charm is that he is there for the games, not some corporate muppet. Now he has been tarnished and it will take time to clean up.

While the XL is a side-grade and you can argue the technicalities you want, he straight up lied. When was the last time he did that? Was it worth tarnishing his reputation for 2 extra weeks when it isn't going to cannibalise sales? It's still a month away. Who is in control of PR over there? If they wanted to pull an Apple it would have been like "Bam! On store shelves now. Now fly my pretties and rain cash".

Two words. Unnecessary lie.
