More wonderful hawt pictures of the Revolution Controller
« on: April 12, 2006, 09:39:42 PM »
Great things come in small packages.

http://gonintendo.com/?p=2029

These are shots of the grey dev-kit controller, in the hands of people who probably work at Ubisoft Paris. In some shots, you can actually see the black cord that connects the dev-kit controller to the dev-kit cleverly tucked away so we don't notice it. The fact that these are devkit controllers is probably proof that the "circle-gun nozzle" window on front of the controller is not necessarily anything close to the final design compared to the wider more remote-like IR-window.

There's also been some speculation about why some of the people are focusing their eyes "off-screen,"
outside where a TV might appear, but that's probably just photojournalistic grandstanding.

Reminds me of the original N64 pad. The colour, that is.

Well first generation dev kits especially alpha kits or prototype kits will obviously look rough and not as sexy as the hardware on display.

I wish the cable connecting the nunchuck and mote was longer. i have long arms.

Then move the controller arm along with the Revmote arm, silly you, you've been officially instated as PGC's official ballerina 'cause of your arms being long.

Time for a title change!

BTW, have you guys ever REALLY considered how big the actual console will be? When it was shown at GDC I read a couple sites and they couldn't believe how small it was. So I did the mockup thing. I guess when they said 3 DVD cases I expected that to be the width. But the thing is actually smaller than 3 DVD cases! It's ridiculous!

I don't think I'll be able to comprehend the size until I have one in my hands. But yeah.

Incidentally, I think the competitor's systems will look horribly outdated when put next to the rev. Large, hulking consoles? With 2-handed controllers and no silly blue lights? That's so 2001.

edit: thanks for the links smash brother, odilon. I like the picture of the dev holding a sword and gun....

The PS3 looks like my Canon i860 printer, the 360 looks like an air purifier; what a travesty.

I'm hoping the rev controller wil have remote power-on of the console itself similar to what the 360 does. That's handy, and probably incredibly lazy all at once.

It has that functionality, the very first teaser video shows the guy at the end turning off the console with that button.

The "power off" functionality is pretty much pointless for me because my systems are plugged in through a surge protector...

How does that matter? You can still turn them off!

not to mention that turning them off does nothing to protect them  (in other words you would still need a surge suppressor)

Turning it off is to reduce the amount of power it draws, hence lowering your electric bill

What they should do is make the revmote and Nunchuck attachment wireless. Why in the world do they need a wire attaching the two?? Wireless would be so confortable.
