PREVIEWS: Guitar Hero World Tour
« on: September 19, 2008, 07:12:06 PM »
Get your 86-song strong set list right here.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/previewArt.cfm?artid=16712

Guitar Hero World Tour is setting the bar high with the number of songs that will ship on-disc.  Initially, 86 songs, all master recordings, will be available to play, with music from artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Van Halen, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Michael Jackson, and a whole lot of others.  On top of that, many songs come in the form of "live" studio versions that may help you live the dream of playing as if you were the one recording the track in the studio.

With the promise of more songs available through the Wii's Pay & Play downloadable content service, as well as a potential endless supply of free, user-created tracks through Activision's free GHTunes service (see our impressions for more on that), there will be plenty of new music to come back to.  World Tour will be available for all platforms on October 28, 2008.

Rockband 2 has a better playlist.  Sad, because this is the game I'm planning on getting.  Too much nu-metal, or whatever you'd call it, on this one.

#  Lynyrd Skynyrd - “Sweet Home Alabama (Live)”
WHY LIVE?  STILL, AWESOME

In some interview somewhere, Brian Bright said that when you see a live version, it's usually because they weren't able to locate the masters from the studio version.

I think this list is slightly better than Rock Band 2's overall, but RB2 does have a few songs that I'll feel like I'm missing out on (Aqualung!).  I just hope that GHWT can keep up in terms of DLC.  If it turns out that GHWT instruments work with RB2 on Wii, then I'll buy RB2, but if not, meh, no big loss.

Do we really need THREE Tool songs?

The two sets of instruments won't be compatible on Wii because they use a different standard.  The GH drums and guitar are Wii Remote shells, while the RB ones are presumably standalone Bluetooth.  (We don't know for sure because Harmonix still hasn't shown the Wii version or its instruments.)

Whoa, I didn't realize the drums were a shell too.  So how many total Wiimotes are required for a full band?

Three.

Harmonix were stupid to not use the Wiiremote design for at least their guitars.

YES
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

i dont know which is more unnecessary: 3 wiimotes to play the game (when the drums could just as easily be wired since.. you know.. they're not that portable) or 3 tool songs

EASYCURE: I remember thinking(don't ask me why) this was a blond haired, blue eyed, chiseled athlete. Like he looked like Seigfried before he became Nightmare.

I've heard many people say they are excited for wireless drums in Rock Band 2.  I guess there were some problems with the cord length and moving people around in the first RB.  So maybe wireless drums are the way to go.

It's ridiculous that the instruments aren't compatible with both games like they are on PS3 and 360.

I'm probably going to skip both games until they get their heads out of their asses or a third party comes up with a reasonable solution.
