People like free gifts and offers.

Just like how I got free 1-year subscriptions to Time, EGM, and Maxim after buying an anime DVD from Best Buy online.  I like free.

OK, so a meteor does hit Hyrule, melting the polar ice caps and creating the great flood of Noah?

Don't get me wrong, Becca's my favorite gaming female of all time, upstaging Lilith from Capcom's Darkstalkers.  But Vanessa looks remarkably like Jill, probably cuz that's what Mr. Mikami's into, so I made the preceding suggestion.

I still think Becca's wearing a bit too much in her costumes, a bit.

Vanessa should have Jill Valentine's RE3 outfit.  That'll make her dancing even more interesting.

I forgot something, since WW's story takes place 100 years after Big Link's Big Adventure, we have to buy the fact that that particular vision of Hyrule wasn't lost or destroyed when Link returned to the past, cuz then the future from that point could've been anything, like a Meteor hit Hyrule, whiping out all Hylians and life and 3 billion years later the Chozo walked the earth and named it Zebes.  Anyway, if Big Link took the Master Sword with him to the past, he could bury it under his treehouse, and Big Zelda (7 years later) could go over to there and dig it out AFTER she sent Big Link to the past, cuz I don't think there could be multiple Master Swords, sorta like Ganon and the Triforce.

Keanu Reeves was in Bill & Ted's [most] Excellent Adventure.  He traveled thru time in a telephone booth before he managed to learn kung-fu and take flight during the 2003 Superbowl Halftime.

More Back to the Future/Bill & Ted's logic here I see...

Early in Majora's Mask, Young Zelda gives Young Link her virginity--! I mean, the Ocarina of Time as a form of insurance right before he sets off into the lost woods in search of Navi, Skullkid, his Uncle from Zelda3, BigBird, whatever--the game never makes it clear.  This occurs in the cutscene the moment Link retrieves the Ocarina from the lunatic Skullkid at the end of your very first 3-day cycle.

As for the Master Sword, as long as it's in Hyrule, it'll end up in Hyrule's future, RIGHT?  However you look at it, 100 years after Adult Link or 107 years after Young Link, the Master Sword sword didn't leave the earth and plant itself in the Mushroom Kingdom, now did it?

There's better things to think about, like since Ganon was sealed during Big Link's time, is Ganon even still a threat or does he even exist in the past when Link was returned to his former young self?  Since Link set off into Majora's Mask while things were apparently peaceful, apparently a single Ganon existed for all time streams (probably cuz the Triforce pieces exist for all time streams).

General Chat / war in iraq
« on: March 19, 2003, 10:13:20 PM »
France, Germany, and Russia have oil contracts with Iraq's current regime.  Iraq still has massive unpaid debts to France, so there's much for France to lose if the current Iraqi government is overthrown.  Additionally, France is on a mission to regain world power & influence that it hasn't had for a long time.  Creating this wall of opposition to U.S. actions is the first step France is taking to break up the monopoly of influence the U.S. has been comfortable with for some time, arguably.

Then you can wonder what the U.N. planned to do if they finally put their foot down and said Iraq has violated res.1441.  They've been quite soft in the enforcement sense as of late.  Or you can wonder how long weapons inspections would go on if George Dubbaya kept his mouth shut, and would Iraq would ever fully comply considering their "one hand behind their back" style of compliance.  "U.S. to U.N.: Let's goto war next week!; Iraq to U.N.: Oh, look! Here's some Al Samoud missiles we forgot to mention 9 months ago........."  next week, "Oh, look!  Here's a nice book report on our VX gas, but unfortunately we can't prove how we discarded it..."

I downloaded the MPG version from IGN (boo, hiss, I know, it's up for free download), and bloody 'ell, does this kick some SERIOUS arse. I felt the same way about some of the Smash Bros. DX (Melee) commercials, but this one, yeah, just get a similar announcer who can speak English fluently, and bring it over almost exactly. This will sell SCII and Cubes like NOBODY'S business. Granted, Namco will probably have commercials with Heihachi and Spawn just the same way to attract attention to the other two versions (or will they? I heard Nintendo would be going out of their way to promote SCII with an extra commercial, maybe this is it, the announcer DOES sound like the one who did previous Nintendo commercials, including Smash Bros. DX's), but wow... this would definitely draw attention in America...

If possible, Nintendo could hire Frank Laffontane to narrate the commercial.  He owns the deep, forboding voice we all hear in 99% of all movie trailers we see in the U.S., not to mention a couple of the Zelda trailers we love.  He gets paid $10,000 for every 10minute visit he makes to record about a minute of his voice.  Lucky dog.

Majora's Mask has about 52 total heart pieces I think.  Those were fun to find.

I think I'll be playing Wave Race and Beach Spikers.  I need to make up more custom teams, like the pigtailed Team Hong Kong I had in mind.

That's simply your case, and you seem to want motives or objectives elaborately instilled in you via automated storytelling.

Games in the Metroid and Castlevania series, for example, have little story development in them.  They have beginnings and endings, with gameplay occupying the middle, and I'm wholly satisfied with that.

Metroid (Prime's) story is a 2-step process:
1) Samus go somewhere.
2) Samus KILL EVERYTHING!!

Castlevania is similar:
1) Go to Castle Dracula.
2) KILL DRACULA!!

That's just lovely.  Having a bad guy that a game can prompt you to hate isn't really necessary for me.  Usually, I begin playing knowing I'm gonna KILL HIM AND EVERYTHING ELSE in the first place.  For me, Metroid Prime's experience is a single mission for Samus to complete, and nowhere in the middle of the game do I tell myself, "I haven't talked to anyone on this planet. I'm alone, all I do is kill everything, but I need some story to liven things up.  I guess I'll go back to my gunship for some coffee."  I just finish the damn mission, cuz that's what Samus' line of work called for, and it's what I expected from the Metroid franchise.  The experience I derive from my interaction(gameplay) with the game(s) is all the story I personally need.  When Samus visits a new place, or defeats a boss, hey, that just became part of my game's story.  My motivation for further play is expressed by the question, "OK, what do KILL now?"

I like Metroid Prime a lot, but I wish it had just one more, one more huge boss.

Enjoy the current systems while we can.
Dark times ahead will see competition from the Sony PS35, the Microsoft NeXt-X-box 2007 Professional Edition XP, and of course, the Nintendo Fun-Tetrahedron-256.
