And I thought Rock Band 2's 'day-before-Christmas' release was bad timing...

It's an odd choice for a release date, but alot of gift checks and gift cards need to be cashed and spent on that day after Giftmas.

But still, that is a huge missed opportunity. Even a week earlier could make a huge impact on it's sales. I know I do tend to get a game or two in early to mid January with Christmas money my grandparents like to send me, but imagine all of the people who remain content with what they have instead of returning stuff.

Actually, this is a very well picked shopping day.  Sales begin to drop off in the last week before Christmas.  However, the day after Christmas is a GIGANTIC retail day.  It's not the day after Thanksgiving, but it's pretty darn close.

People have a lot of money (and giftcards, and return credits, etc) and have time on their hands (as many people have some time off after the holidays) and quickly grow bored.

According to Snopes (whose data is not updated for the last 7 years) Black Friday nor the day after Giftmas are the biggest shopping days of the year.

That honor belongs to Dec 18th/19th - Dec. 23rd.

So releasing a week earlier probably wouldn't hurt and have a HUGE advertising push during giftmas eve/day to make awareness for gift card/check spending on post giftmas day.

Black Friday is merely the day when most retail companies actually break even or go from red to black for the year. Everything after that is pure profit.

The last weekend before 'Giftmas' is typically very huge as all the last chance shoppers go out then.

With a release date, this game seems more real to me, like I can get excited about it now. :P

That font below the logo looks like an half-assed attempt at a rock n' roll album cover.

It's so bad it's good.

I'm looking forward to this, doesn't look as ugly as it used to. But it still doesn't look as pretty as the first Crystal Cronicles on gamecube. Or maybe I just remember it looking really good cause all the action took place with the camera super zoomed out, and this game is big and wide open.

TGS Trailer is up

Look under Multimedia.... or just look for the NEW markers

This trailer makes it seem like this game has everything in it.
DOA Beach Volleyball, whatever that FF ball attack sport was, chocobo racing, good story telling, stealth(?), action,  skydiving, magic doors, fantasy, crystals, everything.

Dammit, this game's awesome trailer has me wanting Sqeenix to make a FFVI remake on the Crystal Bearers engine.

There seems to be a lot of variety in this game. It must be pretty big in scope.

Well, it seems Square-Enix is up to their old tricks, as those screenshots are gorgeous (almost of the same caliber as FF 12, which itself looked like an early 360 game).  It's hard to believe they're Wii screenshots, though I doubt they'll look that good on my HD TV.  They never do...

Quote from: ESRB
This is a fantasy-based action game in which players assume the role of Layle, a mercenary "crystal bearer" who uses his telekinetic powers (i.e., the ability to control gravity) to stop an evil villain from destroying the world. Players can explore fantasy worlds, battle numerous creatures, and engage in story-related mini-games (e.g., dodging lasers, flying airships, saving people). The central character can use his telekinetic powers to throw people off cliffs, into warp portals, onto train tracks, or into trash chutes. Guns and swords can also be used to defeat characters. One sequence involves intense machine gun fire against a dragon; cutscenes sometimes depict slapping, punching, and kicking. Consumers may wish to know that the expletives "damn" and "hell" are occasionally used by the central characters.

Some female characters wear revealing fantasy outfits and bikinis that expose deep cleavage. During one sequence at the beach, a woman accuses a man of peeping on her in an outhouse changing room (e.g., "How icky of you to watch girls changing!" and "You were peeping?!"). In one mini-game, two women in bikinis try to knock each other off a floating platform using only their hips. Players will also encounter multiple alcohol references during their adventure: wine casks, barrels, and bottles (e.g., "Rainbow Wine") can be found in some locations; a goblin samurai holding a sake-shaped bottle appears to be drunk; and players can visit a winery and uncork kegs and barrels, allowing the wine to pour onto the floor. If players wish to, they may pick up steaming manure and toss it at enemies or the bucolic surroundings.
