Um... this is on the official gamecube website:

Quote

Exclusive games and characters like Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pokémon

Do you think this is a prelude to an upcoming pokemon game or is it just a referance to Pikachu in SSBM?

Pokemon for GCN has actually been confirmed for a while now, but the real speculation is whether it will be an RPG or a Stadium style game.  We'll see.

My new speculation based on pokemon gba weirdnesses...

Ruby and Saffire don't link up with old gameboy games, therefore nintendo wants everyone to start over...

sounds to me like they are getting ready for a mmorpg pokemon, because one of the problems would have been people using their 5 year old ultimate pokemon...

Only 202 of the 350 some odd pokemon are obtainable in both ruby and saffire, and rom people have looked into the code and found out that the two games do have the capability of having those missing pokemon in them....

Final verdict...

Pokemon mmorpg to come out very soon and you must play it online all of the time.  It will have extensive link up capabilities with ruby and saffire and that will be the "one player mode" when your character "goes on vacation"

Yes its all speculation....but ya know...

if you guys are intrested there are tons of good ideras in the many threads on this stuff, they talk about being able to run gyms, stores and breeding centers.  It is worth reading.

Those missing Pokemon are easily explained.

You get them from the GC version.... it's obvious, because you need a GBA to play Pokemon GC.

Doesn't have to be a MMORPG specifically.

Yes it doesn't have to be an online game. It will more than likely be a RPG that you can unlock some of the other pokemon. (It will more than likely be a expansion maybe with statium like opitions, but that remains to be seen.)
