Star Wars Kid
« on: May 04, 2003, 01:25:37 PM »
I just read about this poor bastard on Penny Arcade...  I must admit that like Gabe, I have done my fair share of lightsaber fighting as well, but I hope to god that I am not THIS bad, and I would never have the urge to videotape such a thing if I was that bad.

This is just hilarious though.

Oh, my, God.
I know that in the interests of Star Wars, this kid should be congratulated on his bravery and valour (I'm serious), but, uhh, this is so unfortunate. It's also the reason why stuntmen - more specifically, martial arts stuntmen do it. It just looks better.
But guess what? I've now got some footage to do my lightsabre effects on! I've done a movie before, it was like 6 seconds. It wasn't me though. It was from theforce.net. I've also done quite a few stills using the Raven Blade FMV screens (the one with those creatures with swords in a temple). I'll have them up soon. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm also doing the martial art Kabudo. It's the one where you use weapons and stuff. We use three weapons: 1) a Bo, a long wooden stick, like that of Donatello in Ninja Turtles. 2) the tonfa, a pair of wooden police batons. haha. and 3) my favourite, the Sais, like the things Elektra uses in Daredevil.

So, I'm gonna use the Bo. And Kabudo training will obviously make the moves look better. The Bo is made to be taller than you, so it makes a good double-edge lightsabre. BUt it's pretty thick, so i think i'll use what that kid used, something like a curtain rod.

I would take the Sai.    There's just something so cool about them.

Personally I have always wanted to learn Kendo or Ju-Jutsu, but I am always worried that I would have my butt kicked by some 5 year old doing it.

Yeah, I'll do a 'proper' lightsabre film first, then we'll go to the fictional three-dagger sabre. I'll just make a few still pics first.

Downloading it now.

EDIT:
MY EYES! THEY BURN! ARRRRRRGH!
WARNING! DOWNLOAD THIS VIDEO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

At first, I was laughing, but when the second guy came in, then it started getting weird. As soon as he took his shirt off, I screamed in anguish and covered the screen, then deleted it.

Grey Ninja, that is foul. You have provided me with footage that has scarred me for life. Footage that is scarier than all of The Ring.

REMEMBER, ALL YOU POTENTIAL DOWNLOADERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I really feel sorry for this kid. I mean I do see the humor in it but if I were him I would have to go dig a hole somewhere and just lay in it and die. I can't imagine the hell he's going through over this. Considering that he is a dork with a weight problem I can't imagine he had it that much easier before either which makes what he's going through now ten times worse.
Hey, kid! I’m a computer! Stop all the downloadin’! Help computer!

Oh man... this just keeps getting funnier and funnier.  He actually got a New York Times article about his embarassment.  LMFAO!!!!  I would REALLY hate to be this guy, but damn is he ever funny.  He will forever be an example of why you shouldn't let things like this get out.

Anakin, the second movie was bad, but it wasn't THAT bad.    If it got too much for you, you could always turn it off.

Yeah, I know that you don't want to see it again, but since other people were complaining that they couldn't see it because of a shoddy-made Quicktime plugin, I figured I would throw a direct link in that they could right click and save as.
