W.A.R. HOO YEAH. what is it good for? absolutely moddin
« on: December 10, 2008, 10:24:24 PM »
I know I probably have made a thread about this already, but I need help finding a Wii Action Replay, me being the Action Replay king and all. So if anyone knows somewhere I can get one, much appreciated.

And yes, I know they are out and about, they were released back in August 2007 i beleive.

Did they?

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=+Wii+Action+Replay&x=10&y=24

A google search shows torrents for it, so it's possibly something people are downloading I guess... I don't know. But it doesn't appear to have had a commercial release.

The Homebrew Channel + Ocarina. You'll have to mod your Wii to use it, but that's pretty easy. After that you just need to drop text files with codes on your SD Card and boot the Ocarina program through the Homebrew Channel.

There hasn't been any release of a Wii Action Replay to my knowledge, so this is the only route.

Umm... I'm pretty confused. I'll need some help getting that going. And yes I am pretty sure they are out as a disk for the wii, but I'm also pretty sure that I have the worst knowledge about the videogame world.

Proof! or speculation......

There is this though...

Link

http://store.videogamecentral.com/wii-action-replay.html

It's just sold out all the time.

But I don't know. Maybe someone who actually knows what they are doing should do some research.
Also, the release date was 2/1/08, long ago. I'm surprised I havent seen it anywhere if it's really been released. So yeah, I'm pretty confused.

I wouldn't trust anything from either of those two sites.

Wii Action Replay simply doesn't work just like Freeloader:  Nintendo denied Datel any means of running "unlicensed" code short of Twilight Hacking.

Datel can't get stuff running off the SD slot or the GCN memory card slots to enable the cheats.  After certain Wii System Updates were in place, preventing such activities, there was no point in releasing the products.

I could be making this up.  But it's reasonable.

Yeah, well couldn't they use the disk slot? Like put it in, run the AR disk off the disk channel, take the disk out, insert the game, then activate the codes? I can see it working just like the DS AR...

Well it's obviously not a DS.

GameCube allowed the AR disc to run, but still required the memory card to run the code.

Wii rejects Datel's discs altogether.

No need to mod the Wii to install HBC: just use the Twilight hack and you're all set!

Well using the Twilight Hack is modding the Wii ;). It's a software mod (soft mod), as opposed to installing a modchip (hard mod).
