Topic: Nintendo Digital Shops Undergoing Maintenance Tomorrow

All three of Nintendo's digital shops will be undergoing temporary maintenance on Tuesday, November 6, according to Nintendo's website.

While Nintendo's network undergoes regularly scheduled maintenance every Tuesday morning, this week the North American Nintendo eShop, Nintendo DSiShop, and Wii Shop Channel will all be undergoing maintenance from 10:00AM - 5:00PM PT (1:00PM - 10:00PM EST.) The Japanese eShop will also be offline on Wednesday between 3:00 and 10:00 JST.

There is currently no confirmed word on what the maintenance is for, but it can be speculated that it may have something to do with preparation for the upcoming launch of the Wii U. We have contacted Nintendo about the matter. Check back for any updates on the story.

Please let me use wii vc games on 3ds , allow me to plug in 3ds sd card into wii u to play 3ds eshop vc games on tv. I guess account set up and more full downloads for legacy games

Pipe Dream: Laying the groundwork for unified Nintendo eShop accounts across all Nintendo platforms, so that digital games are no longer tied to hardware once the firmware update goes live.


Likely Reality: Background changes that aren't visible to users due to Wii U releasing soon.

I hope they're tweaking the Wii Shop so the damn thing doesn't time-out on the loading screen almost every time I try to use it upon booting up my Wii. That's an issue I've been seeing for years.

I know right!? I mean come on. The pictorial representation of these digital games is a boxed gift with a bow for crying out loud. It's silly that we still don't have what is quite a basic feature and one which would no doubt mean more sales for Nintendo.

i wanted gifting games for a long time, I didn't say anything because I assumed that i was alone.


More than likely Wiishop will return as e-shop and let you transfer over stuff to Wii U. Which is needed but not that exciting.


My current wii feels like it will die soon, its a little slow loading stuff up and a few times froze up. I haven't really touched it so I hope to transfer everything and it will be the 'gamecube' machine after that .

Because of how we speak.  Here it would be June 11th, 2012.  You rarely hear anyone say the 11th of June.

Though I've read a story that states that 90 or so years ago we did say the date the same way but as more paperwork was being done Book Keepers found it easier to group documents by month so in your 2012 file cabinet a draw would be a Month October then the day would be the specific folder.  Since 2012 is the whole cabinet it be less important while October being the drawer and then the day being the place in the drawer making it second most important.  So in short it seems to stem from capitalism.

Ummm, "Slim", I don't know who you "talked to" at Nintendo, but the maintenance notice is listed right on their status page.

I suspect redistribution of server space, dsiware is likely going to be 2/3rd of the space and wii shop will likely be about one 3rd if that makes any sense. the wii shop is likely getting a transfer tool for the wii U.Perhaps they are laying the groundwork for an account system but they won't pull a sega saturn if you get my drift, the 3DS eshop may get preperations for GBA support at a later date but wasn't the 3ds eshop down last month as well,

I'm an American (though I wish I lived in the U.K.), but I always put the day before the month anyway. Even when speaking. It just sounds correct. 6 November 2012 just looks and sounds better than November 6th, 2012.

I have to disagree, it feels wrong and unnatural to say the day first. And it makes no sense, it would be like writing the time as 34:6 instead of 6:34.
