Fire Emblem: Awakening was shown off in English for the first time ever during the today's Nintendo Direct.

First confirmed for North American release during E3 2012, the first Fire Emblem 3DS title is coming to North American in early 2013, or in "just a few more months" according to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

The game's main character is Chrom, who has to guide a team of unique characters through turn-based strategy gameplay. It is the first game in the series to feature 3D models during battle cut-scenes. Awakening also will include downloadable content and new enhancements to the series structure.

Fire Emblem: Awakening debuted in Japan in April 2012. In Europe, the game is coming Q2 2013.

I remember Path of Radiance (GC) and the sequel Radiant Dawn (Wii) had 3D models during the battle scenes.

Can't wait for this game, I love me some Fire Emblem. I wish Intelligent Systems would work on another Advance Wars title too.

You would be correct, MrPhishfood. Both console FEs did, indeed, have 3D polygonal characters during both battle portions and cutscenes.

Awakening looks to continue the series' new look and feel. Very excited about this one. Hopefully it'll replace Sacred Stones as my favourite FE.
I like Nintendo more than j00!

Did anyone else keep watching until they switched to the Nintendo Direct info from Japan and catch the Wii U + Monster Hunter 3 HD + Wii U Pro controller?  Should I hold my breath now or is there even a chance that it will come out to the US?

It all considers if Wii U is being sold out still in March.  If not We may see a bundle if so Reggie has made it clear that NoA would keep its alotment going to non-Niche bundles. (The reason we're only getting the Deluxe and Basic. With no Pro variant.)

Don't count on it, the series isn't popular enough outside of Japan for the game to be bundled elsewhere.
