Hunting monsters on 3DS in Japan just got a lot cheaper.

Monster Hunter 3G for the Nintendo 3DS will see a price cut in Japan from 5,800 yen to 3,800 yen, under Capcom’s Best Price label, on November 15.

Not only that, but players who wish to purchase the title digitally will be able to do so starting on December 6 for 3,400 yen.

Monster Hunter 3G, known as Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in the West, was originally released in Japan on December 10, 2011 and has already sold over 1.5 million copies. The game is scheduled to be released in the West next March.

Gives me very high hopes for a digital release for the west.  This is the kind of game I always want to have on me when I have my 3DS.  Pretty much any multiplayer game is great for digital, whereas single player stuff is good for retail copies (let friends play it, sell it back, etc).

Be nice if they release the 3DS version here in the states at a discounted price.  Sort of a lead in for the Wii U version.

I'd buy digital for this game, because (a) I'm confident it will get played enough to justify the cost, (b) I have no intent to trade or resell later, (c) it would free up my card slot for something else, while ensuring that Monster Hunter is always available, (d) local multiplayer will likely never happen... but at least this way I'd be prepared for that miracle day!

Thoroughly upset that this isn't coming out sooner.  My co-workers and I have been waiting for a new game to distract us from work.

Time to plan a trip to a game and/or anime convention.  You'll get tons of multiplayer there.
