I think Puyo Puyo is technically a spinoff from some serious JRPG which is where those characters are coming from.

I think all of their Dangerous ______ titles have been received badly?

The most annoying part about those arcade archives and virtual console games is that they're only on consoles and consoles get obsolete. I have a bunch of those games on the Wii, PS3, Vita, Wii U, ... that aren't available on current systems. Meanwhile those collections I got on the PC still work on my current PC. The slow rate of releases certainly gets worse when you can't even have all of them in one place.

I wonder what a Pokemon game based on Germany would be like... Notable flora and fauna includes the world's deadliest mushroom and the largest catfish (big enough to eat small dogs). Notable evil plots...

To shock Miyamoto I'd try coding Donkey Kong black. Like give him a rap theme song and...

Link's Awakening on the GB was my first Zelda and I got stuck on the first puzzle that involves pushing those dark blocks that are usually non-pushable but specific ones can be moved exactly one tile. I didn't know that they are sometimes pushable.

I don't know about Grandia 1 but when I played through Grandia 2 I had to ask a friend afterwards what it looks like when you lose because I didn't die once. And I wasn't even remotely completionist with the game, only learned afterwards when reading a guide that you can find additional eggs.

Speaking of Inland Empire, that's a skill for your character in Disco Elysium. It lets you argue with your necktie, among other things.

Syrenne, it's safe to talk about Touhou on a Nintendo podcast, Touhou Kobuto V Burst Battle was one of the first physical Switch releases. Of course that's just a fan game, the rule of thumb is if the art looks professionally drawn it's a fan game.

I think there's evidence out there that Lucky is not named after Palmer Luckey. Don't remember where though.

James savaged the 3DS version on RFN back when that came out, apparently the puzzles are trash. Every puzzle was a sliding block puzzle or a trick question where you had to answer 1 or 0.

I trust noted Burger Time expert Jeff Gerstmann who stated "There is only one good Burger Time game and it's Burger Time."

Which level in Kid Dracula has the klansman boss?

Also the episode title made me think you would talk about Chinese censorship. Like Game For Peace, the new title for Player Unknown's Battlegrounds...

The story behind the train is allegedly that Aonuma's kid liked trains so he forced trains into Zelda. When players tried to just speed through the train parts Aonuma made the train slower to force people to appreciate it.

Yeah, reeeeaaaal fun to be on a train, play a game to pass the time while it goes somewhere and have your game make you wait for your train to go somewhere...

Now I wonder if there's a ROM hack that replaces the train with instant teleportation and how that changes the way players approach the game...

Is Marathon any good with the SRS rules? They seem designed for competitive play, especially the infinite spin gets a lot of complaints usually. In competitive modes you need to be fast or your opponent basically gets free hits on you so infinite spinning has a downside but in Marathon that falls away.

Ever since his first appearance in SMB 3 Spike's defining trait has been the ability to store unfeasably large objects in his body that he just pulls out of his mouth. So Spike could be Bowser's walking storage container.

I want to see a Paper Mario musical that has all the actors wearing billboards with the characters printed on them.

There's another cheap Megaman-like on the eshop called Meta Gal. Maybe that's more interesting than Venture Kid?

In the GBA Game & Watch Collection there's a modern rendition of the Chef G&W, in that version you bounce food with your pan until it is done and then let it fall behind you where a Yoshi stands. Once the Yoshi eats enough it lays an egg and after a few more pieces of food that egg hatches into a baby Yoshi and the adult runs off (you then feed the baby until it grows up and the cycle repeats). I don't think it's really canon but that is a game showing Yoshis laying eggs just from being fed and having new Yoshis hatch from those.

You get +25% garbage generation for every fully upgraded badge, it looks like each badge slot requires more badges than the last to fill.

SRS rules are mandated by the Tetris Company. TGM's ARS is not standard anymore and likely wouldn't be allowed to be in a new Tetris game.

VR in 720p is going to be bad. I have an Oculus Rift and anything past a few meters away is blurry and details get hard to see. And that thing runs at 2160x1200 in total.

I mean, personally I find VR without tracked hand controllers a waste since you can't just reach out and grab things and just sticking a Switch into a headset case won't allow it to track any controllers... Half the fun is to grab an object and look at it to figure out how it works and using your head to point at things isn't remotely as nice as using your hands.

Also of note: Oculus is releasing the Quest headset which is a standalone system with hand controllers, the headset handles tracking the controllers so there's no fixed infrastructure needed. That seems like it would compete with Switch VR.
