TalkBack / Re: Minecraft Coming to Wii U December 17: $29.99
« on: December 07, 2015, 02:05:47 PM »
I've never played Minecraft, nor do I ever plan to, as I'm not much of the world-building type of gamer. I like the Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon and such, but not so much constructing an entire world from scratch. That aside, this is excellent news for Wii U owners, and especially potential Wii U owners. Minecraft is for kids today what Pokemon was for my generation back in the late 90s. I can't go to a restaurant without seeing some kid with his or her parent's iPad in hand playing some game, often MineCraft. Being able to to play that at home on the big screen AND off-screen via the GamePad is a nice incentive for parents to consider the Wii as a worthwhile purchase (instead of another iPad or some similar tablet). Just my two cents, but I think this could be pretty big for Nintendo, even if the NX is on the near horizon.

Yikes. Can't say I didn't see this coming, though. Perhaps they should have just made Mario Party 11...or, perhaps Fortune Street U: Feat. Tom Nook and his Happy Villager Friends  :P:

Consider the going rate these days for the physical carts, I (and I imagine MOST Pokemon fans) will happily pay $10 for some of the defining games of my childhood. Can't wait!  :D

It's nice to hear that you guys can rest easy tonight, avoiding the torturous playing of Mario Party Advance  :P: :

In any case, back to the episode. Looking forward to listening to the rest!

Mario Party Advance never should have made it on store shelves. My vote goes to Mario Pinball Land. I could never forgive myself if I contributed to the staff suffering through Mario Party Advance  :P:

Kevin Larrabee is the man! It was so great to hear another recent episode of the Back-in-my-Play podcast, and it was equally awesome to hear him as a guest on here. Excellent episode, gentlemen!!!

And I'd argue it's easily the best game on the system, and one of the best games I've ever played anywhere.

*Mic Drop*

Case closed, folks!!!  :D

An excellent Top 20, no doubt, but I really would have loved to see Kirby: Triple Deluxe crack the list. I would have arguably put it in my Top 10, honestly. Some of the most fun I've had platforming, not only in a Kirby game, but on the 3DS' entire catalogue. Still, well put together list, NWR!

Guillaume, seriously, you are NOT praised enough for the amazing job you do, week after week, editing and uploading each podcast episode. As a long-time fan and someone who goes as far as returning to episodes from 2009 on a rather frequent basis, yeah I'm looking at YOU James, when C.O.P The Recruit dominated New Business, (I work a summer job in a dairy cooler...I need something to take my mind off the monotony of emptying milk crates and stacking yogurt!) I need to properly thank you. Not only have you been a terrific new host, following Greg's departure, but you bring an excellent perspective on games to an already all-star cast of co-hosts (yeah, I'm looking at YOU J Lindy...a guy who predicted FFXIV to come to Wii U...gotta love the guy for trying :P ). Alright, enough of my rambling antics. Thank you, Gui, for all your consistent and diligent work in putting out my favorite gaming podcast on a weekly basis for our listening pleasure. I look forward to it every week, and I feel a few good words of encouragement every now and again are in order. I hope these find you well, Good Sir. Now, back to the dairy cooler I go. That milk ain't gettin' put on the shelf itself! :P

Wii U: Yoshi's Wooly World

3DS: Fantasy Life

SOOOO many excellent titles to choose from. Definitely one of Nintendo's most memorable E3 in terms of software shown, in my opinion.

Well, for what it's worth, I believe you can get the Pokemon X/Y OST's on iTunes. I know it's a game developed by GameFreak, but at least Nintendo published...and I actually was pretty impressed with the music in the latest installment. Although, I still and probably always will be partial to the 8-bit GameBoy tunes of yesteryear (Red/Blue/Yellow)  :D

General Gaming / 2014 Nintendo Prediction
« on: January 06, 2014, 07:22:26 AM »
In honor and anticipation of the Radio Free Nintendo annual 2014 Nintendo Predictions, I thought what better time than for the audience to start to get the ball rolling with some of their own predictions. Be it bold, vague, or inevitably going to happen, I encourage you to post 3-5 (or more!) predictions that you have for Nintendo in the coming year. I'm not using this as a chance to plug my YT channel by any means, but I have recently recorded an episode in excitement of what RFN has to say in next weeks podcast episode.

So, what does Nintendo have to do to save the Wii U? Which 3DS games do you see over the horizon being announced? Will Nintendo forgo Wii U production and return to the magnificent hardware that was the Virtual Boy? Wait...what?  ;D

My 5 predictions (one of which I stole from the ONE, the ONLY...J Lindy):

General Gaming / Re: Your game of the Generation
« on: January 04, 2014, 07:45:33 AM »
With no doubt in my mind, it would have to be Super Mario Galaxy. I've just received Galaxy 2 for Christmas, otherwise it may have taken the top spot. Playing Galaxy for the first time invoked that same sense of amazement and awe that I had playing games like Super Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and even Bioshock for the very first time. Graphically I still believe it's the best looking game on the Wii. The soundtrack? My goodness, nothing short of superb. Each and every world design was so unique and finely detailed, too. I only hope that Nintendo has a unique and out-of-this-world (pun totally intended) 3D Mario game in the works akin to 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy.

General Gaming / Re: What is your most recent gaming purchase?
« on: January 04, 2014, 07:36:13 AM »
Well, Target recently had a sale on 3DS XL's (including the Zelda and Mario & Luigi Special Editions) for $150, and my dad was fortunate to get Wal Mart to price match and snag the M&L Bundle for me!

I also managed to get a few things via trades from a site I trade games on (GameTZ):

-Batman: The Video Game (NES)
-Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (N64)- one my personal favorite games on the N64, and probably Top 5 SW games ever.
-Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64)- Sadly, I've never played this game, but have only heard great things.
-The Hobbit (GBA)- actually a very enjoyable Zelda LttP-type adventure game. Obviously not even remotely close to as good as LttP, in terms of graphics, music, gameplay and the like, but for what it is, I loved it when I originally played it upon release. Definitely worth looking into if you can find it on the cheap.
-Punch Out!! (Wii)- I've never played the original Punch Out on the NES, but I have of course heard good things. I've also heard that this reboot was spot on and exactly what the series needed, so I'm looking forward to maybe popping this in over break for a few matches with family.
-Tomb Raider 2013 (Xbox 360)
-The Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds (3DS)- Loving this game to pieces right now!
-Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (3DS)- already pre-installed on the XL that I got! I missed out on Bower's Inside Story unfortunately on the DS. Superstar Saga is arguably my favorite game on the GBA, and while I was a bit disappointed with Partner's in Time, I have high hopes for DT!!!

...also grabbed two games from the recent Humble Bundle Winter sale:
-Gone Home ($6+ some change)
-Dust: An Elysian Tale ($3.75)

Pokemon X! Still have quite a bit of post-game content to get to, but I'm moving on to Link Between Worlds for now...which I've already made it through the first three dungeons! This game is brilliant. From the wonderfully composed music, the great graphics, to the perfectly implemented merge ability (albeit the easier dungeons and puzzle solving, I'm not complaining as I can progress through the game rather quickly and still have a blast doing it), I've already deemed this as my runner up for GOTY.

Super Metroid II: Return of Motherbrain (Wii U, of course)
