Valkyria Chronicles (PC) selling 200K makes me happy.  I really wish Sega would port VC3 at some point in time.

When Steam first started I figured it was the killing blow for the PC but in a lot of ways it's what saved the PC.  Now with both Sony/MS systems being x86 based porting games over is easy as pie.

The Wii U is having a bit of a rough start for first quarter in japan but an new Mario Party game is due out next week so I'm expecting some decent WII U numbers.

Yeah, I'd say that's a lock.  Ironic because the PS4 seems much more designed for the Western market while the Wii U seems more catered to the Japanese.

It's a good remake that sold half a million. That's worth something.

http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=42522

Wii U sales so far in 2015 are 20% higher than the first two months of 2014. Not something to be too celebratory of.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has Lifetime-to-Date sales of 1.5 million. amiibo has an LTD of 3.5 million.

Majora's Mask 3D is the fastest selling Zelda handheld game at 515k. Makes one wonder about A Link Between Worlds.

Lastly, yay for MonHun4U!

*shrugs*

It's the New 3DS' launch month. It's not surprising that Nintendo managed to fool enough people into buying an incremental upgrade that it put it at the #1 hardware seller for the month. Next month, it will probably drop off again.  Meanwhile, Sony's still doing well with the PS4, so "good" on the console front.

As for the NPD Top 10, as a fan of the original Majora's Mask, it's nice to see the dumbed-down version selling well. That game never got the recognition it deserved on the N64. I'm a little disappointed, though not surprised, to see The Order underperformed. I predicted it would at the beginning of the year.  I'm really annoyed to see this year's incarnation of Titanfall (Evolve: a multiplayer-only online shooter) sold well, though.

I just have to ask, what does the 3DS doing good have to do with the Wii U? How is that going to help Wii U at all? I mean good for Nintendo sure because it means more money for them but in the battle between PS4 and Wii U what does the 3DS doing well matter?

Handhelds are an entirely different market their sales should be tracked separately so the charts should be broken down into two different markets. In that scenario 3DS didn't sell better than PS4 because it wasn't competing with PS4, which it isn't.

In the console space 3DS, Vita, 2DS, New 3DS they have no relevance whatsoever. In video games as a whole how can you talk sales and not include tablets and PC's and mobile phones while we are at it?

Dude, this is the official sales thread.  There is no sales thread in the handheld forum. So sales of all systems are discussed here and are compared whatever way anyone wants.  If you want to start a handheld sales thread in the handheld forum and try to maintain it yourself, have fun.

Re: Official Sales Thread
« Reply #10192 on: March 18, 2015, 11:39:45 PM »
Because they are not the same. Whenever someone says Wii U doesn't have enough games someone else always replies with a list of damn 3DS games. I get it some people own both but they are two entirely different products selling to an entirely different audience.

I am not going to start a new thread, nobody would read it if I did why bother? I don't care if the charts are lumped together but how does pointing out the success of 3DS have anything to do with PS4 sales? We were talking about PS4 beating Wii U and a comment was made about how 3DS is the top selling hardware like that had anything to do with the conversation. It always happens too its not just a one off event. This thread is in the CONSOLE discussion anyways I could throw it back at you and say move it to the general gaming forum if you want to get technical. Handhelds are *not* consoles that is why they have their own thread.

There are several threads that apply to both handhelds and consoles that are in Console Discussion for varying reasons. It doesn't really make sense to have multiple sales threads, which as some other things have shown would probably just result in a lot of redundancy and confusion.

Yazkuza Zero, a Yakuza prequel set in the 1980s (I think), takes the top two spots. Mario Party 10 debuts at #5 with 50k.

About any of it or just making a thread in general gaming?

And handhelds are dedicated gaming hardware.  That is why they are lumped together with home consoles which are also dedicated gaming hardware.  Nintendo will probably do a press release touting the 3DS as the highest selling console for the month of February at some point.  Sony or Microsoft will tout their system as the highest selling HOME console at some point as well for the month.

about splitting the threads. Most of what I was saying was just frustration at constantly being told about 3DS games when ever I complain there isn't anything on Wii U as if that has anything to do with it. To me they are different consoles or different platforms and I just get tired of those replies. This wasn't exactly the same thing but it was close enough it struck a nerve is all.
