It's great to see Dead Space 2 sell so well, as it really is a phenomenal game.  It's a pity that Mass Effect 2 PS3 didn't make the list when we have stuff like Black Ops still up there, but oh well.

Mass Effect 2 has been out on the 360 and PC for over a year before it came to the PS3. So it was already an old game from the moment it was released. Its no surprise to me that it didn't chart.

I think I recall seeing that Just Dance 2 was the top selling game when you don't combine the SKU's of games together.

I wonder how sales of DC Universe Online will keep up. It benefited from a huge marketing campaign.

I don't see DCU making the list again, especially after the near-universal lukewarm reception it has gotten in the press.  By the time the NPDs come around again, people will have returned to playing WoW.

Looks like PS3 Move has stopped moving.

Perhaps Sony is okay with not making as big a splash as Kinect is. Judging from the quick looks Giant Bomb is putting out, it looks like Sony is doing a bit of better in supporting Move by having PSN titles come out for it as well as Move support for upcoming or past retail titles. Then again, it's probably much easier to make a game for the Move than for the Kinect. Still, I haven't heard of many XBLA or Xbox Indie games for the Kinect. That seems like a missed opportunity even though it is still early in the accessory's life. I think the first one I've heard of is The Gunstringer.

Indeed.  The Kinect is still selling on the promise of developers actually doing something worthwhile with it.  For all the problems the Move has (and I do own one now, as well as the Nav controller), I can take the thing right now and play games that I actually want to play with it (Resident Evil 5, Dead Space Extraction, Killzone 3).  So long as Sony is earning a profit off the Move (and I really don't see how they haven't by now, especially in Europe), I don't think they walk away too depressed from being outsold by the Kinect.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 topping charts in motor sports loving Europe. Hope they fix those online issues that were present at launch.

Surprised to see Mario Vs Donkey Kong: Mini-land Mayhem! up there as well. It must be well liked over there too.

Xbox Kinect Bundles( > 228k) outsell PS3 Move Bundles( < 53.4k) by 5:1
Is this referring to only bundles or is it including individual kinect and move sales?
It seems to me that people are more likely to buy a new Xbox with the Kinect than people buying one by itself since they save $50 and get a new redesigned Xbox with it.  The PS3 and Move together is the same price as them separate.
It makes me wonder how many moves are actually being sold and are they buying the move by itself or with the Eye.  It's similar to the Wiimote where there are multiple parts and they all make Sony money whereas the Kinect is all in one and only makes MS money that once.

Though I still think the Kinect is doing better based on the sales of Dance Central alone.  That game is Kinect's WiiSports.

On the Player One Podcast they just talked about how the non-Kinect bundles are sold out everywhere, might even be a hint of desperation in those bundle sales.

From the reports we have seen, even the Kinect device by itself is selling very well. PlayStation Move, on the other hand, is not. It's very easy to find and I think even NPD said it was not doing well.

PlayStation Move, on the other hand, is not. It's very easy to find

Meh, the Kinect is piling up everywhere as well, that's not a metric.

Kinect is one of those things that sell based on hype, but once people have tried it and see what it is and also realize that there isn't going to be much in the way of future game support for it, that hype is going to evaporate. In the end I think people are just lazy. Why get off your ass and stand up and move around when you can just sit down and do the same things by just pushing buttons on a standard controller? Not to mention that 90% of the Xbox fan base is there for Halo and games like that. Kinect isn't compatible with their preferred games.

You do realize that's basically word for word the same argument people made about the Wii, right?

I know. But the Kinect is even worse, because at least with the Wii you have the option of sitting down while you play and you only have to move your arms and not your whole entire body.

I realize that Chozo already responded but....
You do realize that's basically word for word the same argument people made about the Wii, right?

Is the same argument until all those same people realized that you don't have to stand up, you don't have to move around and you can just sit there and push buttons.... if you feel like it.

Very few games that use motion actually required you to move more than your wrist and as soon as people realized that, alot of the bitching about it stopped. Now the bitching is more about forcing in motion controls in place of actual button pushes and not the actual having to move to play a game.

Everything about Kinect as far as motion goes just feels kinda forced and the novelty will wear off eventually. With the Wii you have the option of all out immersive<sp> interaction or minimal effort wrist flinging. You don't have that luxury with Kinect. You're either all in or all out, there is no inbetween or alternative options.

The majority of Wii owners, as well as the kind of people who are buying Kinect, never had a problem with full body motion controls; in fact, they're the exact reason those people bought them. People might get tired of it, but the same was true of a lot of Wii owners, and Microsoft, like Nintendo with the Wii, makes a profit on the hardware itself, so they're fine with just those people's initial investment and their inflation of the userbase, potentially attracting more developers to the platform, which would mean more sales of Kinect, etc.

Not to mention that the wiimote also has buttons, so its not like every single thing you do in a game has to be done with motions. Most games involve both motion and button pressing. I don't think there are many Wii games that rely 100% on motion as a control method, but with Kinect there is no buttons because "you are the controller" so everything you do in a kinect game has to be done with body movements. Kinect is 100% motion control; whereas on the Wii I'd say its <50%.

Why did Black Ops jump back up all of a sudden? Was the price dropped or something?

It probably has something to do with the new map pack. You also need to keep in mind it is an awesome game and people are going to be telling their friends to get it so its going to have long legs. There also just might not have been a lot of new games out during this time period to steal that #1 slot.

The problem with Kinect is the lack of good games. All it's getting is ports of Wii shovelware.
