Amazon is offering a sweet offer for US customers who are subscribed to Amazon Prime, in a bid to counter the Best Buy Gamer's Club Unlocked offer.

Overnight, all Amazon preorder games received a 20% discount for Prime members at checkout. This leaves most Wii U titles at $48 (from $60) and 3DS titles at $32 (from $40). The offer is also valid for amiibo, with Lucas and Animal Crossing wave 2  reduced to $10.39. (All prices before tax)

It is not known how long the sale will last, but eligible games will have "Prime Members save 20% off list price" in the details. As well, the preorder price guarantee is listed as applying, which has previously meant the games will get 20% off the reduced price. Preorder titles at Amazon charge nothing until shipment.

The more I read the more I am excited for this offer. It will make a lot more new games reasonable for my gaming budget. I do hope it is permanent. I went ahead and pre-ordered a bunch of games not releasing anytime soon to show my support of this deal.

Wow. Is this permanent? I don't think a one-time sale will do much in the long term... Honestly, this MAY finally be the killer feature of Amazon Prime that finally gets me to buy into their ecosystem. I've resisted every single other thing until now.

However, I do still have a LOT of gamer's club unlocked subscription left with Best Buy, and Best Buy would still beat out Amazon with a cheaper buy-in to their program these days, AS WELL as what amounts to a 2% cashback benefit ($5 certificate after $250 in spend).

This still doesn't quite justify the fact that I'm buying Twilight Princess for a third time, but I'll take it. Amazon Prime is the gift that keeps on giving.

Oh, is this only for Pre-Orders? For anyone doing a comparison, it's worth noting that the Gamer's Club on Best Buy also applies to non-preorder new games too. (And on the other hand, Amazon Prime does more than games)
