Can I point out the possibility that maybe you have to unlock Event Mode?  At the same time or maybe after unlocking King Dedede?

Or, here's a thought...since you're not playing AS King Dedede in that Event, who's to say that you can't still have to unlock him for play?  Just because someone's in an Event doesn't make them playable before or after (ie. Giga Bowser or Dark Link in SSB:M).

Which basically comes down to: just because King Dedede is in the first Event, doesn't mean that either are necessarily there at the start.

Is there any way to edit my Miis on my computer?
Indeed, it appears that intrepid individuals have sought out to do this exact thing. If you have bluetooth setup on your PC, you can use Mii Mega-mall ( http://www.miimall.com ) and the Mii Editor (http://www.miieditor.com ) to transfer your Miis to your computer, edit them to match your new Wii (via MAC address), and send them back to the Wii as being editable. More information about that can be found in the Mii Editor FAQ.
Thank you Pale over at NWR for this information.
Shecky further adds: It probably makes the Bluetooth computer look like a Wii Remote. And you can send a Mii to a Wii Remote as part of the Mii channel. You can even pull Mii's off the remote.

I sent my Wii in for repair, and when I got it back, I cannot edit my Miis! Nintendo transferred them to what appears to be an entirely new Wii, and it’s telling me that I cannot edit a Mii I didn’t create! Why must you toy with me so, Nintendo?
Basically it’s like you no longer have rights to the Miis in question. Use the solution above. I realize that’s not the best answer in the world, but it’s either try that or live in your misery.

I got an email back from Nintendo affirming that the situation has not changed and that Miis are not editable.  At least, not OFFICIALLY.

I had thought to ask about Mii editors before, and I believe me and my brother had experimented with this earlier.  While we can clone Miis with now-matching addresses, the problem remains with all the related saves.

With the popularity of the Wii, why can't I find any Wii save game editors on the 'net?  If I could just edit the saves that are tied to a particular Mii to instead be tied to another one, then I wouldn't have to lose any saves or have an extra Mii of me.

Anyway, I finished the game with 100% on a rental.  Does this make me a bad person, because I want more games like this, but won't buy it because I no longer have any need to play it again?

This is $#^@! dumb!

Not the channel itself, but my inability to use it.  Why, you ask?

When my Wii was acting up, giving me speckles on the screen and stuff, I had to send in my Wii for repairs.  Rather than repair my Wii, Nintendo transferred all the data to a new Wii.  Which is fine, I didn't lose any Wii Points or saves or anything.

EXCEPT for now all the Miis I made on my original Wii are considered foreign, and I can't submit them or use them as Mii Artisans even though I myself have created them!

Oh, sure, you say, recreate them.  I could - but not the Mii that represents myself!  I now dislike how games tie themselves to a particular Mii, if I delete it I will lose the save.  While for games like Wii Sports it makes sense, I shouldn't have to lose my WarioWare and Metroid Prime 3 save!  Unless they say "oops, your Mii is gone - would you like to reassign this save file to another Mii?" - but judging by the constant warnings I doubt this is the case.

The alternative is to make a second Jon Mii.  Sheesh, it would be easier if I could see what I chose for my first Jon Mii, but of course I can't edit.  Silly.

Sounds like a great idea otherwise.  >_<

I kept on saying there ought to be a Brain Age stage, though now that PictoChat is in, Brain Age seems unlikely...especially since Brain Age music is used here.

I was imagining a simplified Connect Maze and/or Low To High where you'd have to watch out for a giant stylus, as where it'd draw might be platforms or where it taps might cause massive damage.  But that might be a little too difficult, even simplified, what with all the fighting going on.

So maybe PictoChat is better, though these days I think the DS is known more for Brain Age than PictoChat.  I can't remember the last time I booted up PictoChat...

Anyway, I hope this stage has lots of variety and randomness.  Personally, I didn't like Poké Floats at all.  Though I guess I never understood the concept to begin with (I don't remember seeing Poké Balloons in any game at all), but it seemed dumb to me that it always had to start on a Squirtle head and follow the exact same pattern every time.

(By the way, the "New Item - Kirby Urchin Enemy Thing" you mentioned in the very first post of this thread?  I'm pretty sure it's called "Gordo".)

Bosses in Hyper Difficulty so far? Piece of cake, I've already faced them once before. (Some were even easier than before, Rundas was a joke.)

But groups of Space Pirates? Not so much.

I'm stuck at the part on Bryyo where you have to destroy the turrets so that the gunship can come in and bomb the shield generator. Only problem is, there are a bunch of Space Pirates around that first one. I have all five Energy Tanks that I can have by this point. Even if I do make it into the first turret room with near-full health (by first spending twenty minutes going in and out of the other room where the containers respawn so I can get health from them after getting rid of the two Pirates in the next room), it's quickly drained as I use Hypermode to waste the Pirates or else take damage while I'm trying to get under there to yank the stupid thing out. And there isn't a whole lot of cover in that room, so I keep moving, but sometimes I'm jumping towards another Pirate who shoots like ten shots during a jump and by the time I land, that's another whole Energy Tank gone.

I did manage to destroy the turret twice. The first time, I headed backwards to go back to the save point, only to be wasted by a pirate along the way. The second time just now, I made it all the way back to the door that had locked - only to find that it's still locked! (And then I got wasted by the Pirates in that room too, of course.) They won't let me go back to save and/or restore my health - so I'm expected to survive, and well enough that I can continue moving forward? Nuts!

Maybe I need to work on my shooting skills, but I think it's stupid that the difficulty level ramped up so suddenly here.

Any tips for, well, shooting and surviving?

You could print the wallpaper compilation of all the areas in Super Mario Bros....  Ian Albert has those, and of course that's in a more standard-proportioned rectangle.

General Gaming / RE:Big question about Metroid Prime 3 Boss difficulty
« on: October 04, 2007, 05:09:01 PM »
I totally blew away Rundas in Hyper difficulty so quickly it almost wasn't even funny.  Just go into Hypermode and make the best of it.

The bosses are easy because you'd have already finished the game at least once so you don't have to "learn" how to beat them, and you're probably super-comfortable with the controls at this point too.

What IS totally tough (for me at least) are rooms with a bunch of Space Pirates.  While you can focus on a boss pretty easily with no other distractions, it's pretty easy to get wasted by even a few Space Pirates if you're distracted for a moment.  I'm stuck at the first turret part, grrr.  That's why I'm taking a break this week with a rented MySims.  :P

If you don't mind me asking, what was the final cost?

Almost too much, but hey, I need to splurge on something now and then.

Since the Canadian dollar and American dollar are practically the same now, these figures will probably have more meaning now (than back in the day when a thousand Canuck bucks was like one American dollar).

The frame came from IKEA, and was $19.99 ($21.19 after tax).

The print came from Riley's, and was a whopping $54.92.  Can't remember if that included tax or not.  $17 of that was some stupid "digital processing fee", probably because I submitted my order via the Internet.  I guess you have to pay for convenience, but I thought it was a little excessive.

And then there's the time I spent putting the original map together, which, considering it was my first map, took longer than it would take me now.

Even though the Dark World wasn't made by me, I'm considering making a correction to it (a cave under a rock isn't on there) and doing a palette colour check, but then I'll be asking for it in a black frame for Christmas.  :P

Isn't that twice that Snake/Metal Gear stuff has gotten a TRIPLE update?

Not that I'm complaining.  I'm just wondering.  It's like, the only known third-party character so far from a series that hasn't had its latest games on a Nintendo series, and one of the two series that anybody at all cares about a PS3 for, gets mega-attention on those particular days.

62

Well, I finally got it done.  I decided to follow along with UncleBob's idea of getting a map printed and so I got printed the first map of VGMaps.com, The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past's Light World!  It's 50 cm x 50 cm.

I chose this basic white Ribba frame from IKEA, 'cause just in case I do decide to print Alex Foster's Dark World map, I can get a matching frame that's black for it, and then put them next to each other or maybe on opposite sides of the same room.

Here's another shot...

The original map can be found on my site here:

Does Lucas keep his DINOSAUR KICK?

Yeah, I played five minutes of Mother 3 and didn't understand a word of it.  All I remember is kicking a T-Rex a few times.

I only just filled out the survey just now, since I thought (as usual) that Canadians would miss out.  But I guess not for this now, hence my late entry.

Any chance I'll still get it?

LOL, and I keep joking that no one remembers Mole Mania.

I also don't think it's a matter of "importance" or "popularity/obscurity" though there certainly must be some degree of value to adding a particular character since they can't add them all.  Mr. Game & Watch was a surprise at the time in Melee, but I'm sure they wanted a wacky character, and even if all the generic Game & Watch characters were never identified as a single person before, there's still some throwback to the pre-NES era so there's some historical value or something there.  The Fire Emblem characters brought interest in the series outside of Japan (if I remember correctly Roy was in a Fire Emblem game not even released in Japan yet).  The Ice Climbers...well, maybe they were experimenting with having tag team characters and they liked it enough to keep in there, certainly they don't have a legion of fans like Pit of Kid Icarus.

But Muddy Mole from Mole Mania?  I don't see him as anything beyond a trophy, and not even an assist trophy.  There are no Mole Mania fans and no chance for a sequel.

And Mr. Resetti I don't see as a playable character ever, as some gamers never have the thought to reset an Animal Crossing game.  K.K. Slider and Tom Nook have a better chance of being one before him.

I don't get why there are so many Mr. Resetti haters on GoNintendo...

No, no, there were poofy guys (Topis?) as well as polar bears.  Polar bears were in the Japanese and European versions too.

Dude!  That's yours!  I never knew!  I love that map!  I've always wanted to print it out and hang it...

Funny thing is, after seeing a co-worker's gift to her mother (and this was like just a couple weeks ago), a large collage of photos printed out and framed, I was thinking of looking into that same printing place and getting them to print out the Light World from A Link To The Past (VGMaps.com's first map EVER) and framing that.

I think many places stopped stocking GameCube stuff because they didn't think the Wii would become the #1 console this gen.

I was talking with another Wii owner yesterday who - get this - has modded his Wii (so he probably knows how to get into the inside of his Wii) but has never noticed the GameCube controller slots that are in plain sight right on the top.  WTF.

The Halberd is making me want to play Kirby: Super Star again, even though I've played it so many times.

Easily still the best Kirby game ever made.

I broke off the tabs at the bottom of the Super NES's cartridge slot to play the Japanese version, and then I rented the North American version twice, and then I bought it...and I'll buy it again on the VC.

The Megaton Punch music should be in one of the Kirby stages, too.  Maybe not this one, though.

I have a Roomba.  I got it for my mom but she refuses to use it.

Now I have trouble using it.  I wonder if the battery or charger is screwed.  Oftentimes the light is red, but when I pop the really hot battery out and back in, sometimes it works, but often it doesn't.  I wonder if it's overheating?

I haven't changed the filter in like forever.  I wonder if I should?
