I think the market that went after Xbox will be the same ones who go for Steam machine mostly. Everyone else will revert back to Playstation and Nintendo will limp along as usual doing their own thing. Sega actually has more than IP worth buying the have infrastructure and they have factories as well as development teams that could benefit Nintendo. Rare would just be the IP. If they went after the entire Xbox division it would benefit them to get their hands on the infrastructure and Live but this new deal sounds like their way of going forward in that direction anyways.

I am pretty sure the ads are tailored to your off site traffic so it isn't what you read here it is what you do elsewhere buddy.

how do you know PS4 won't double as a casual friendly console since it does everything people want in terms of multimedia stuff too? It has Facebook integration built in there is nothing more casual right now than FB.

Casuals aren't going to buy a $400 videogame system to do things they can already do on their PC or smartphones.  Sony would have to create a Wii Sports type casual phenomenon to make these people even think about buying the PS4 and Sony has shown no interest in doing that.

Sure they will, they are doing it in droves. Every sales story says the Ps4 is selling faster than Ps2 do you really think all of that is hard core gamers? The flaw in this argument is lumping all people who aren't hard core into one "casual" umbrella which is erroneous there are a lot of Madden/CoD and Wrestling only "gamers" who will buy the damn thing too. You can say Ps4 won't sell as well as Ps2 all you want while in the real world it ALREADY IS doing just that.

just picked up Elliot Quest on Wii U eshop. Loving it so far.

I can see them going after Sega just to get Sonic and then letting all the rest of their stuff stay locked away for eternity. I can't imagine a scenario where they would want the Xbox division but I can see them going after Rare and maybe whoever makes Fable.

I especially liked the under handed reference to my failed attempt at creating an anti-forum for this place. Wow that was such a joke. I read a lot of comments of people who said they lurked for a long time before posting, I was one of those. I read through the entire Hi I am new thread before making my first post. No way I could attempt that today.

Wow I never knew this is why he left. I think we got into arguments but I generally liked Bill. I didn't care for Mario much I remember he was pretty rude to me as was Hostile Creation. But I do miss Golden Phoenix. This was kind of a long, and somewhat sad, thread to read.

"I disagree with everything you said. Consoles have always existed as a niche of the larger market, have you never heard of Arcades, that is the market mobile replaced not consoles."

Wow.

"PS4 is not only going to sell well it is going to blow past Wii and DS sales numbers before this generation is done. Maybe the reason PS4 is selling so well is it does everything right and hasn't compromised on anything. The games will just naturally gravitate to it and eventually the sales will continue to rise."

Hooboy. Anyway, yeah, all those compelling games are going to gravitate toward PS4, which will have a library just like the PS2. All those novel, moderately budgeted, aesthetically and mechanically varied retail games are going to flow like honey. And not be substantively replaced by indie games that could run on your Dell laptop from college and exist in a nostalgia hot-boxed echo chamber.

"Steam Machine is gearing up to expand the console space as well as it will combine PC and console into one unit, something Xbox and Playstation have been sort of attempting for years."

Yes, Steam Machines are going deliver the Millennium of gaming. They might be almost as popular and influential as the Steam Controller is destined to be.

"Its not like in the 90's where gaming was a niche today it is pretty mainstream and consoles do a LOT more than play video games, well unless you stick ONLY to Nintendo consoles and then they barely do more than just video games and well sometimes they barely do video games."

Certainly having access to media streaming and social networking services that come loaded on toasters nowadays is a sterling and insurmountable advantage. Also, too, recording videos of yourself playing a video game is a feature that will reel in a massive audience of people who don't already live inside the present population-growth-adjusted stagnant or declining "hardcore gamer" ecosystem.

So what because you prefer Nintendo that means nobody else is allowed to like Playstation? News flash Ps4 is not only selling really well its gaining a lot of praise from everyone who isn't a fanboy.

I need to read the fine print to believe that, I am pretty sure it states somewhere that you should always use spoilers as a precaution. The only exceptions are Disney films because everybody alive has seen those, and foreign films because, who cares.

They irritate the crap out of me. Why can't we, as a culture, stop using stupid commas all the, damn time? I mean nobody ever uses them correctly, we just throw them around willy-nilly, so why can't we, just stop using them, altogether, I mean damn.

Because they are not the same. Whenever someone says Wii U doesn't have enough games someone else always replies with a list of damn 3DS games. I get it some people own both but they are two entirely different products selling to an entirely different audience.

I am not going to start a new thread, nobody would read it if I did why bother? I don't care if the charts are lumped together but how does pointing out the success of 3DS have anything to do with PS4 sales? We were talking about PS4 beating Wii U and a comment was made about how 3DS is the top selling hardware like that had anything to do with the conversation. It always happens too its not just a one off event. This thread is in the CONSOLE discussion anyways I could throw it back at you and say move it to the general gaming forum if you want to get technical. Handhelds are *not* consoles that is why they have their own thread.

Well it didn't work out exactly. I decided to wait until August to leave so I had to turn down the job and stay here. I will apply again over the summer when it gets closer to the moving date. I just didn't think I could make it work right now I need to get school settled first. The good news in all this is we had one guy up and quite in the production department so that means I get to pick up some of his shifts for the time being until they replace him. I also spoke with my summer employer about returning this season and they put me on the roster so I will be back to doing the wedding thing starting in May so I should be able to save up money for my big move hopefully.

General Chat / Re: Should I report to Amazon?
« on: March 18, 2015, 11:17:49 PM »
Well I got it worked out. I called Amazon support and they gave me a discount to order the CD brand new from them and gave me free 2 day shipping. They also sent a notice to the seller reminding them of their policies. I don't know if anything became of it they were from the U.K so I don't really care I won't buy from them ever again anyways. But I am kind of glad I was able to get a new one for the same price I was getting for the used one that never came.

General Chat / I need help- support group thread
« on: March 18, 2015, 11:13:23 PM »
Alright long story short, I need to get in shape. Recently I had gotten off soda and worked my way down to a respectable weight. Now I was doing fine, buying new clothes, working a great job, met a nice woman, even bought a new car things were going fine.

Things were going good and then juggling school, work, and girl friend began getting to me the stress and all. So I withdrew from school shortly before my girl friend broke up with me. Needless to say back to binging on soda and junk food I not only gained all the weight I lost, I went a little too far in the other direction. Its not an easy thing this life stuff so I am asking for support, someone or group of friends who can encourage me and keep me in check. I normally just turn to my sisters or cousins but they have lost the ability to affect me as well they all suck so I tend to tune them out these days.

I am moving to a new city and starting a new school, and new job, in the fall so that gives me from now to August to get back in shape and try to turn things around.

If anyone has tips, advice, suggestions, words of encouragement please share them here. Others in the same situation feel free to make this a support thread for those who need support.

Movies & TV / Re: Rate the last TV show you've seen
« on: March 18, 2015, 11:03:29 PM »
I am almost caught up with season one of Agents of Shield. I just watched the one where Hydra is revealed and I think there is a flaw in the show right there. While connecting it to the greater Marvel universe works great for people who watch the films and series, its kind of odd if you only watch the show and miss what happens in the movie. It is like watching Torchwood without Doctor Who, some things are just going to be completely lost on the viewer.

It felt like they really rushed through it in the Tv series because they just expected you to have seen the events of the movie. Yeah I get that it is a tie in but that seems like it could be a hindrance to the shows creativity. I still like how it references the movies but that story arch seemed like it needed more than half just an episode to set the tone, if you watch it with The Winter Soldier it adds a lot too it but it feels empty on its own.
