Maybe they are working with Konami on making MGS HD.
To be honest, I was surprised to not see Twin Snakes on the list of games in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection that just released on PS3, since the original MGS was too old to port to HD. Maybe Nintendo owns the publishing rights on that game?
As for Silicon Knights, I won't shed a tear for them if they close up shop. In this industry, you don't spend as much money and take as much time as they do on projects, turn out mediocre to poor product, and expect to still be in business. They've had some good ideas and concepts from time to time, but if another company like Nintendo or Konami has to prop them up to create anything approaching a worthwhile product (and even then, their work doesn't approach the quality of something like a Retro Studios game), they're not worth keeping. A company with a longer history of quality product should buy out the IPs and the staff worth keeping, and get rid of the rest.
