Ok, so maybe i did exaggerate a little. However, the point of the message is first and foremost, you older posters aren't mods, so stop trying to act like them.  It's not all of you, just a select few.  Secondly, just treat others with some respect for bob's sake.

I think if you go through every locked thread you'll see that someone, as in an older poster, has "flamed" (or whatever you want to call it) the creator of the thread.  The threads were eventually locked anyway so there is no need for anyone to even leave a message in the first place.

Thanks for proving my point Bill...... I have a complaint and I am told to stop exaggerating.

I'm surprised I haven't seen the 'who do you think is hot?' thread yet, as it would seem like it is next to come.

Don't take this the wrong way because it's not just directed at you manunited4eva, but it isn't your job to tell others what they did wrong.  The moderators can handle that themselves.

I see a lot of people complaining about "newbies" making these boards "bad."  In my opinion it's the users that have been here longer that need more moderation.  Post after post I see older posters bashing newer users and even other older users.  Too many of you think you can get away with saying whatever you want to others and think that you are exlcuded from the rules because you've been here longer than most.  You should be setting the example for the "newbies" rather than acting like you complain the "newbies" do.
Not once have I said something rude or crass to another user and I'd appreciate the same in return.
Quite franlkly, the ingorance expressed by some of the users is making me dislike these forums.

The character designs are exactly as they were in FFX.  The only thing different is their clothes.

Nintendo Gaming / Actual Wind Waker Sequal News
« on: December 31, 2003, 09:14:56 AM »
The time is drawing closer to when Nintendo will be leaving little hints on purpose or accidentaly concerning the sequal to LOZ: The Wind Waker.  I've decided to start this topic because I didn't see anything similar to it on the hylian legends forum.  This is for actual news articles and information based on the sequal to the game.  This thread is not for speculation or rumors or your opinion ( well, unless your opinion is concerning the articles or news)

You're encouraged to scour ligitimate news sources and give a summary or tell us where to go to find the article.  Of course, please don't steal bandwidth, and more importantly, don't plagiarize.

If this thread in any way violates the forum rules, then feel free to lock it mods (Of course, I don't have to tell you guys that, but whatever).  I apologize in advance if it does.

I have FFx2 and i like it.  It doesn't have the feeling of a final fantasy adventure though.  It's like one big sidequest.  The missions are fun though, and it's enjoyable earning new abilites.  Although I have to say, some of them are kind of a waste because they take so long to execute, i never use them.  This game is incredibly easy though.  It's incredibly short as well.
One thing about the abilites that bothers me is that there isn't much different from ffx.

*KINDA SORTA A QUASI-SPOILER*
Also, to those who are dissapointed that there aren't summonings, don't be.  Let's just say that something makes up for it.

I liked the game a lot but did find it easy once I got a feel for the kind of puzzles in the game.  The best part was showing the effects of the sanity aspect of the game.  I would purposely run around with no sanity just to see what would happen.  It was great.

You could also play as Freddy.  As Freddy, you would only be in the dream world, and you try and keep the dreamers from leaving.  Leveling up gives you different death skills, different forms and different traps and different dream 'arenas' .  Everytime somebody escapes you, you lose some power.  I wish i could explain it better, but Denis, you can do the rest.

Although you have a good concept, the sanity meter is one of the unique aspects of Eternal Darkness and SK should keep it unique to Eternal Darkness, and the hopefully the ED series.

Well, from a non-virgin, and post relationship point of view, i must say that both relationships and sex are over-rated.  Just my opinion though.
CONFIDENCE in who you are, no matter what you like, is what girls like.  Trust me.

Woah, woah, woah...First you say that the theological view doesn't play a part in whether you like a movie or not, and then you say that you didn't like the ending because it was religious...I think it's quite obvious your religious beliefs(or lack thereof) played a role in your dislike of the movie...As I said before, if you aren't of the Christian faith then in no way, shape, or form will you like Signs...

You're wrong.  I'm an atheist and I liked Signs.  I thought the acting was good and it was just clever how everything was tied together in the end.  I didn't like however, how a species that could travel light-years in space crafts had to come onto the ground to take the people from their homes and could breath our atmosphere yet couldn't deal with a little water.  I think shamaylan was more worried about the religious aspect that actually being more realistic when it comes to the science of it.  Other than that it was a good movie.  Especially when compared to something like "Ghost Ship," which was the worst movie I can remember seeing, ever.

On anothrt note:  Bill, I didn't like the Idea of Depp playing wonka until I saw Pirates of the Caribbean.  I think he could definitely pull it off.  He has that wierd eccentricity that encompasses the whole Wonka feel,  yet still maintains an acting style and character portrayal much different from wilder which i think will be an excellent twist for a remake.  I'm sure this movie will be great. I know I'll be seeing it on opening day (like 2 years from now, probaly). Then I  remembered it was he who played edward scissor-hands, so now have complete faith in him.

GO HARRY POTTER!.......excuse me, i don't know where that came from.

Hrmmm... at first i didn't even think i could come up with five, but now i have like 20 but i'll only post my 10, so here goes.

1) Hackers-  my favorite movie ever.  I can watch it over and over and never get bored.  Besides, Angelina Jolie is so hot, and she can act.   It also didn't have any cheezy diaglogue normally found in movies that stars teenagers.  It's almost epic.  I  can't believe no else, especially from here, has included this on their list.

2) Riding In Cars With Boys- I know this is a "chick flick" however, Drew Barrymore's character is strikingly similar to my mother, it loosely paradies her life and my own in a way.  It really hit home with me and nearly brought a tear to my eye. (nearly, but didn't).

3) The Craft- Magic mixed with girls who have pms; what more could you ask for?  Seriously though, it's very well acted, but sort of hits that teen drama bull,  thankfully it follows more into the occult.  I also can watch this movie over and over.

4)  Donnie Darko-  Great plot and great acting.  It's very clever too.  Jake Gyllenhal is a great actor and versatile at that.

5) Ever After- Another Barrymore flick. What can I say, I'm a fan of the Drew.  Plus, I love the Middle Ages in Enlgand.  If I could choose any time period to live in it definitely would have been in the Middle Ages in England. Of course I would have air-conditioning, so maybe not.

7) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory-  This movie is great.  One of the first movies i can remeber watching. I wanted to crawl inside my tv and eat all the candy.  I can't wait for the remake with one of my favorite actors, Johnny Depp, and my favorite director, Tim Burton.

8) Girl, Interrupted- Winnona Ryder, Angelina Jolie, and Brittany Murphy all in one film.  This movie was just great... I don't know how to explain it, but it's very intelligent.  The acting was magnificent, of course anything Winnona does is great.

9)The Others-  it moves really slow and for a purported ghost movie, you never really see"ghosts" (or so you think)but the acting is great, and I was especially shocked how well the children in the movie acted.  They were just as good, if not better than some seasoned professionals in the biz.  The plot twist is what put this movie up here. If you haven't seen it i recommend you do before asking someone what the movie was about. It really is a piece of work.

10) GATTACA-  this movie was great.  you have to see it if you haven't.  Uma Thurman rocks my socks.

On a side note, if you haven't seen "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" go see it.  Even though it's a remake, it's very good.  Much better than you're average gore/shocker film, and much better than the first two IMO.

Majority of what people?  Everyone can say they want it yet if the sales dont back up that talk then thats what a company is goin to go by.  If internet gaming is what the majority of the consumers ( which is the group I guess your assuming to when you say majority) then why havent the ps online aspect been a success and the xbox live kits?  Everything is out there for the majority to get what they want yet they arent getting it, I wonder why.

Actually, I do mean consumers but not in the context that you're making it out to be.  I was actually talking about the market of people who want internet gaming and/or LAN.  Of course, that's obviously implied, sorry I didn't clarify that for you.  When people say they want something then I feel they're classified under that market even if they don't purchase anything.  However, I feel it's important to emphasize that it's more than a matter of want when it comes to whether or not consumers purchase games for use on the Internet.  I'm sure there would be plenty more people using Internet gaming vs. LAN connection if money were no object.
In threads about what "Nintendo needs to do", I see many users complaining about lack of support for internet games from nintendo.  However, on other forums no one ever complains about lack of LAN connectivity for the PS2 or Xbox.

General Gaming / RE:Is FF7 over-rated?
« on: October 16, 2003, 02:02:54 PM »
I'm just perplexed as to why you would site an article which claims one of the worst aspects of FF7 is the materia system because "It really deemphasizes individual characters and abilities. One of my buddies said, "Materia makes magic and abilities too interchangeable, so the characters fade away and just become materia slots. So the whole point of characters becomes their limit breaks, which is sort of lame" yet you boast that the job system in FF5 is "awesome," when the job system makes individualistic aspects of the characters completely non-existent.  In FF7 at least there was some variation between characters based on their weapons.  With the Job system everyone can use everything.

exactly.

however, maybe nintendo isn't worried about being industry leader.  I think their philosophy is along as enough people are buying their product to keep them from being in the red (i know, it hasn't been working recently) that they won't be changing tacticts.  When they realized they were posting losses, they figured it was most likely from low software sales, which prompted the cube price cut.  Nintendo will be around to stay though.  Although the gaming market has been around for over 20 years, nintendo, and almost all the companies are still working out the formula for coming out on top, and sony just happened to stumble across it first.
