That reminds me, the tie-in ratio doesn't include eShop games. We don't know how many of those have been sold.

Mop, Amazon has Chrono Trigger for the DS for only $19.99. I don't know if that's a game you already have or might be interested in, but its an RPG and many regard it as the best RPG of all time.

Or you can just buy the original SNES version off the Wii Virtual Console with the original translation & sound effects for significantly less.  I don't care much for the DS version, myself, though it was a fine port when the horrible PS1 port was the only other version available.

That is true, but frankly I am personally hesitant to purchase anything on the Wii's download service because its uncertain whether you will be able to migrate those purchases over to the WiiU later on. If I buy something I want to feel secure I will be able to have it forever, but with digital goods (and especially on the Wii) I'm just not sure. It may cost twice as much, but at least you have a tangible DS card that you will always have as long as you take care of it.

I have to agree completely.  The Wii has its own problems because of the lack of account but I think that the people who assume the other systems will migrate their games are deluding themselves. You should doubt that any system is going to migrate your games.
One of the biggest advantages consoles have sales wise for the makers is that their backlogs essentially get cleared every few years so people need to buy new games and this would hurt all future downloaded games in that sense.

I expect a few of the most popular digital xbox games to move to the 360 while the others stay in limbo for some reason until MS basically says they have finished with it because of lack of interest.  Think about 360 bc with xbox.
The gen after I expect 360 live games to be cleared entirely because of lack of interest.

Unless I hate playing a certain VC game on the Wii, I don't worry about migration. I don't intend to sell off my Wii so it will still be there with all of my purchases for years to come. I also have a back up of all my games on an SD card in case of system memory failure so I can place them on a new system.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be assuming they'll let you transfer stuff over, since they've already done just that with the DSi to 3DS.

You can also transfer games from 3DS to 3DS so you don't have to worry about that if you want to buy the eventual revision.

Mop it up, Amazon has Chrono Trigger for the DS for only $19.99. I don't know if that's a game you already have or might be interested in, but its an RPG and many regard it as the best RPG of all time.
I already have the SNES cartridge. Since my favourite thing about the game is the music, I don't think I'd want the DS version as the quality of it is worse.

I also have a back up of all my games on an SD card in case of system memory failure so I can place them on a new system.
You can only play/transfer games from an SD card on the system from which they originate, so if your system breaks, you can't use those games on another system. You can, however, call up Nintendo and have them transfer your account to a new system, so you don't even have to worry about backing up your digital games.

Resident Evil: Revelations doing nicely. Shame on Soul Calibur 5's slow start; looks like Namco Bandai might need to think hard on how to make the series special again. Armored Core V still sticking around which is nice for From Software; that 48/100 reader review average for the game isn't though.

Looks like Vita's starting to stabilize at the mid-to-high teens. And ouch at Tales drop; not unexpected, but bad week for Namco in general. Hopefully that means future Tales games will be on the 3DS instead...>_>

And Revelations is doing okay. It might crawl to 300k, which sounds like a reasonable figure.

Yeah, there's no way the Wii is going to beat the PS2's numbers with it dropping off that drastically. PS2 had a nice and smooth cool down, but Wii... no way. That's a sharp drop-off.

I'm also amazed to see that the 360's numbers are climbing. Holy crap balls. Kinect?

Nintendo should consider dropping the Wii's MSRP to $99.99. At that price it would be sufficiently cheap enough that it should be able to sell steadily for the remainder of its life despite the lack of new games.

Yeah, I gave up on Woi matching PS2 numbers a couple months ago. The DS is the real successor to PS2, just look at Japan!

Still, it'll crest 100,000,000 and that is nothing to be ashamed of at all, especially considering all the forces of gaming establishment arrayed against it.

Meanwhile, the PS3 and XBox 360 are proving that the userbase DOES exist for a multiconsole marketplace, and that a ten-year lifecycle is not a complete PR slogan, even if they don't actually make 10 years.

What'll be interesting about the next generation of consoles is that the market and economic conditions will have so completely changed since 2006. Thrre's much more competition, price sensitivity, and consumer wariness now, things wil definitely play out differently.

10 year lifespans exist.  Look at the PS2.  It's in its 12th year and it's still selling and making Sony money.  That means 10 years is easily doable, especially if they wait even longer to release the successor.

The Wii version is a little different, so they may be counting it separately from the other versions. The DS version isn't counted in there for the same reason.
