Zelda The Wind Waker (boat)

After I completed Dragon Roost the boat tells me that I have to get in and go to the forsaken Forest, But I can not get into the boat, the only place around the boat to press the A button is to speak to the boat.  


Can anyone help me with this silly problem

I think you have to either jump on it straight from land, or get in the water, swim to it's side, and intuitively climb up into it?

Go to either side of the boat, and press A; it should work..
